  1. yeah, I remember he went from a bin onto some kind of shelter and it was f**king massive! More of that would be awesome!
  2. I'm reluctant to post my reply as it'll make me seem negative when in actual fact I like Jack and his riding is obviously good (plus glass houses and throwing stones etc) but I feel the tone was a bit weird. (plus the name of the video has plenty of innuendo) Starting with Mohamed Ali quotes was a bit on the pretentious side personally...I feel his manager/trainer had a lot to do with this video rather than Jack and he does come across as a stereotypical personal trainer, loud and boastful. I've met a load like him and they do wind me up a little...on the other hand I've never met him so who am I to judge? I'd personally rather see a really high riding edit from Jack in the streets or at least somewhere impressive and relate-able, everyone knows how big phone boxes and other street stuff is, less so rocks and logs. Maybe comp guys like the gym training side of things but outside them it's pretty skippable material. With Jack's skills he could link up the most amazing street lines and really blow some minds...I'm crossing my fingers the second part is less of his trainer/manager trying to sell Jack to the world and more Jack's riding doing it for him.
  3. That was such a good point I actually went and tied a string to my bike and got Jane to stop it from falling over. I now know the answer!
  4. But it would be parallel. All parallel means is the angle of the string is fixed horizontal the same as the floor, nothing to do with start and end points or distance away from the floor.
  5. there was no bit saying the puling point of the string was a set height, if anything that description means the string is no longer being pulled horizontal as soon as the crank moves. If the string is being pulled horizontal to the ground that means horizontal the whole way allowing the crank to rotate the 90 degrees
  6. wouldn't make any difference how long the string was would it? (within reason). The string would naturally pull the crank to the centre of it's arc (9 o clock looking from the drive side) which is 90 degrees rotation. Rotating the cranks clockwise would drive the bike forwards until the crank stopped in said position. The string would then be trying to pull the whole bike backwards but the engagement system in the hub wouldn't let the rear wheel turn leaving the bike stationary unless enough force was put through the string to break the grip of the tyre. Unless I've missed anything that seems right to me?
  7. the bike would move forward until the crank rotated 90 degrees then it would stop
  8. Just booked my first ever actual holiday as an adult (as in nothing to do with bikes or holiday with parents). Will feel weird without a bike but it's a 5 star all inclusive adults only trip to Kos with Jane (found a deal at 58% off and including flights and transfers) so should be good!
  9. pretty happy generally just got a few first world annoyances lately. 1) tried to open a business bank account last month, all seemed to go well but not had my final account paperwork yet and this lead to my next issue 2) got an accountant bill to pay, my card is blocked for on-line use with my bank due to their home card reader messing up and giving me the wrong code which blocked it. This means I can't pay my accountant. 3) I've a couple of big invoices I'm owed and would like to put into my business account but can't yet 4) I need to get the money from these invoices to pay myself 5) Jane wants a holiday and we've seen one we like on Travelzoo but I can't afford it until I've been paid 6) my laptop is on it's last legs and it's becoming increasingly difficult to edit...I need to edit fridays video today or tomorrow 7) I can't afford a new laptop AND go on holiday Time to get on the phone and try and sort the bank issues, I'm not holding my breath.

kiiinda new but I've used it before...it's my Gopro Hero 5. Danny gave me some tips like using super view to make sure I get more in and getting the correct angle, I also turned Pro Tune off and let the camera work out what settings to use, seems to work better for changing conditions rather than setting Pro Tune up and then have it suffer when it gets darker. I was sure people wouldn't like this episode too much as the riding is quite slow and doesn't actually look that steep but I'm pleased to be wrong and people seem keen
  11. I actually can't remember! Possibly 23-18 at one point...If I were to build one up now I'd run 22-18
  12. I'm super short sighted and need glasses to drive legally but I hate wearing them for riding, I can't stand the movement and warped peripheral vision. It means I don't ride at night as my depth perception goes out the window and I struggle when things get faster but so far I've just dealt with it...would be interesting to know what it would be like to ride and be able to see every detail though.
  13. I'm amazed how much you fixed me Mark!
  14. Nope, Chris Wright I think...one of my first riding influences
  15. be aware that bike weights don't necessarily mean that's the final weight...once padding and protection is added it soon gets heavy, my bike bag (which is a bit heavier than a box) + padding + helmet + shoes + tools + a few bits of clothing gets to around 30kg on it's own. Going over weight sucks too, I had to abandon my clothes bag in the Philippines as I was 14kg overweight, they wanted $750 to put my clothes bag on too, make sure you bike is booked!
  16. "DT Swiss calculator and prowheelbuilder.com said 230mm for rear and 228-230mm for front. " That'll work great..you normally have a bit of movement either side, I think I use 228mm on the rear with no issues.

    * *most definitely a lie
  18. I used contact adhesive, I think I put foam in too to protect the tyre and rim but I can't remember for sure. You can still seal your drilled rim with tape though, you can get Gorilla tape in pretty wide rolls...you could just tape the rim as normal but the holes would show the bare sticky side of the tape and it'd collect mud/dust etc...it'd be tricky to do but you could cut the tape wide enough for the rim and then stick a narrower strip sticky side-sticky side to cover the holes...but then again the tube method seems to be working so far so that might just be easier. You will probably find it'll lose pressure for the first few days/week as the tyres won't be tubeless ready and they'll be porous, the sealant will seal them eventually but how long depends on how porous they are.
  19. yeah, streety bikes are waaaay harder to gap and sidehop! As Andy said you just don't get the leverage or the room to move your body like you do on a longer bike...plus the harder tyre pressure makes it more difficult too. I used to static gap around 9ft on my comp bike, now I struggle on things past 6ft and my sidehops have lost nearly a foot too.
  20. They're actually really really close to matching in real life, especially when it's a little dirtier
  21. Loving mine so far, not burped any air yet however I don't really feel I've pushed the limits of sideways landings yet. I'm pleased it's worked for you Ben I was hoping it wasn't just a fluke that I got mine to work...Danny really struggled to get his to seal with Inspired rims, Spank seem to have a more aggressive "bead bite" system that holds onto the tire harder and creates a stronger seal, Danny tried again with Spank rims and it seems to have worked.
  22. I think this is one of the nicer ones I've seen
  23. More vids from you is always a winner in my eyes! The things with views though is that unless you've built up a fanbase with other social media (facebook and instagram) not many people will know you've had a video out, then you're purely relying on one going viral which is less likely to happen anyway if fewer people are sharing it. If you're riding for fun then I'd recommend you don't worry about views, hunting for them is a full time job and not guaranteed to pay off. Make videos for your own satisfaction and if they get popular then that's a bonus.
