  3. cheers guys, big help so far!
  4. Evening I am wanting to get all serious with comps and training for next year. I have joined a gym (and been going regually) but I havn't been given any one to one info. I am probably going to book a personal trainer for an hour or so but I am after some help first. Does anyone know of any videos that show decent slow motion of moves like sidehops, gaps, well, any move really that give a good example of the muscles and body positions used. That way I can concentrate on working what I need rather than what I don't and adding extra weight. I could also show the trainer exactly what it is that I do. I have seen some videos that show vertical jump training (for hurdles and basketball), do you think the same muscles are used on the bike? It looks different from some pictures of positions on a bike I have seen. Cheers
  5. I say 20+ as I was a manic depressive from 12 to about 19, but thats just me.
  6. had a ride on it today and I loved it, don't get me wrong, its very long, but it felt easy to ride. Plus its very light!
  7. I emailed Roger last year asking how it was official, he avoided the question. The way I see it, only British Cycling can decide who should be in the team, no one else, so when I ring Roger I'll put my case across one to one and see if that helps rather than face the lottery of the "qualification" rounds.
  8. What I am saying is, don't say its an official UCI comp if there are no officials there! At a local comp I'll definately forgive the observers, I know how much effort it it to observe (my mum used to do it for nearly every Tyke comp for 5-6 years? plus I have observed a couple of times as well), it just frustrated the hell out of me trying to qualify for the team (which we didn't have to do last year) at a comp thats meant to be official yet I saw riders cross the tape with no penalties, touch feet and not get a dab etc, maybe I should have complained but thats not really in my nature (untill now). As for the combining of the rules, that seems pretty good. (wish they wouldn't call it the National Champs though, gets confusing when talking to people who think its the Britich Champs)
  9. hmmm, not happy. Firstly I was REALLY annoyed with the whole "team selection" shambles last year. 1)why did people who were already (for some reason?) already picked for the team ride these "qualifying" rounds last year? Top 3 riders at the events were picked for the team, yet two of the top riders in the country who were already picked, rode as well reducing the "qualifying" position to just one. 2) One rider who did get a top 3 position was not chosen to ride for the team, as far as I heard he did not get contacted about it at all. 3)I was told these "qualifying" events were official UCI events, yet an official UCI event needs UCI trained observers, course setters and more. I did not see any and did not get an answer when I asked how it was an official UCI comp. I saw some blatent dabs and 5's going unmissed. I just got fed up with the lot of it and stopped entering. 4) not all of the positions in the team were filled last year, why not when that position could have easily been filled? I will be phoning Roger at some point to put my opinions across personally.
  10. if I used a maggie, I would have to run water simply because I get stupid amounts of arm pump with normal fluid. Also, liquids can't be compressed, so there's no difference between oil and water.
  11. I liked Its amazing how much the cheap bikes flex!
  12. pretty sketchy, but I guess its a wee bit different to ride with a brake lever instead of a clutch. I was however REALLY impressed with the moto trials!! The static gap across the road was ace as well as the 180 and wedges!
  13. I'll say yes, only to see you crash again though!
  14. its called a pigeon because you nod your head like one when you go for the move When your front wheel is hooked over an object, thats called a "batman" or a "slug" < to keep with the animal theme. I don't like the name "wheel swap", there's so many moves where your wheels swap positions that it gets confusing (especially when riding natural)
  15. I would deffo go! I would personally prefer a UCI comp styled event, sections with observers etc. I am not really a fan of judged trials, but I still think that would be better than no event at all

    Pad Advice.

rockpad blues are sweet on a smooth rim, plenty'o' power and quiet too. I do believe thats what Danny Mac uses.
  17. wow! I'll tell you what though, I bet its 10X more impressive in person, you never get a true feel for just how big these moves are from vids! I would love to have half his skill. The editing and music was also amazing!
  18. quick answer....yes, they are very good!
  19. I was laughing at the jeans rather than the drunk
  20. I really cant wait! Should be a good laugh with iolo going too, I missed him last year I wonder if that wild boar is still there? Or the wolf? or the snakes?

  22. Hey, Ads was pretty busy today with a VIP visit, so some email replies may take a tad longer. If you want to get a hub service, then yeah, its perfectly fine to buy the service online(taking into account the price difference between a hub or a full wheel(for returning postage costs)) and then sending the hub in with your order number. you could do it over the phone as well (you will probably talk to me anyway) and I'll make a note in the workshop that your hub is on the way. Postage back to you will be £6 for a full wheel. This is a guaranteed next day service which is trackable. Hope that helps Ali
