  1. I forgot who told me it doesn't help with strength, but it was looking at it from a trials point of view. How often when you preload (for taps, gaps etc) are your knees past 90 degree? Going past that in training will only add mass to other muscles that are not being used and putting on pointless weight. Going past 90 does help with core muscles, but I can think of other exercises that help core muscles more than squats

    Road Cycling

just did a 22mile ride on my new roady, its not the logest ride in the world, but it does include the longest gradient road in England! Cragg road I am very happy with this as my bike is single speed and I didn't stop once.

its not a lama, its an alpaca!
  5. my understanding is that going below a 90 degree bend in the legs has no advantages to strength building than just going to 90 degree. My maximum squats are at 140-145kg with 10 reps, but thats with knees at 90. I do jumping squats with 40kg, I think I could do heavier, but any more than that and I struggle to get the weight on my shoulders.

    Injury Advice

Over a year ago I fell off my bmx and tore a ligament in my ankle. I got Si to look at it and put me in a cast for 6 weeks, after that its always been back to 100%. Just over a week ago I fell off my trials bike and folded the same ankle over exactly the same way as on my bmx. I am pretty sure the ligament isn't torn, I can feel it there, the swelling was/is nowhere near as bad plus my foot sits in its natural position when limp. I am still worried though, its been over a week now and its still noticeably swollen and it just constantly aches! Its ok to walk and ride on, but I can't quite get the same range of movement I normally can, plus it hurts when I jump off the bike. What are peoples thoughts? I am reluctant to go to the hospital as they did nothing last time when I tore it. Will the swelling go away soon? Is it worth getting an xray? Its getting really annoying now.
  7. wish it was closer Plus my ankle is still bad, I REALLY want to ride, but I probably shouldn't
  8. I would love to have a shot at the big bit, but thats not saying I'll make it
  9. I have been using a rubber queen at a higher pressure than normal recently, yesterday I tried my other conti tyre at a low psi, I was setting up for a frenchie and I held it on the back wheel with no hops for a good ten seconds or so! Wish it was filmed, although I didn't land the frenchie

  13. pretty sure most people are right footed. Ashton vince Kenny and wes bealey Gilles and Giaco Coustellier Benito is left footed I am also right footed, its just what seemed natural.
  14. Back when I was younger Danny Smith was one of my biggest influences. I had never seen riders go as big, I know when I saw him do massive gaps that some day I wanted to be that good! Also, probably before Danny, I used to look up to Chris Wright and Chris Akrigg when at comps, I was always blown away with their riding. More recently I would say that Stan Shaw is a good influence, he can go so big yet so smooth, I try to get his riding style into my own if possible. I also look up to the best riders like Kenny, Vince and Giles. They always remind me of whats possible and give me goals to aim for.
  15. mine too, but I'll still be there!
  16. the man has great style and can go big....I like!

    What Stem?

trialtech Race if on a budget otherwise The trialtech sport is probably the lightest and strongest stem out plus the geo would be greats for your height!
  18. it was good, but it didn't really connect with me. I would have much rather watch someone do fewer combos but with more style. However, I did love that foot stall thing at the beginning and I agree with Rowen, decades should be used more!
  19. rolled both my ankles! Drove for over an hour to the riding spot and then rolled them after ten mins of riding, very annoying. Fortunately no ligaments ripped, I think I just stretched them, I was very worried though!
  20. Kenny and Wes said you were good, they don't lie! See you at koxx days?
  21. one min of enjoyment.
  22. I am aching like mad today from the gym on tuesday! It was my leg workout doing squats, calf raises and squat jumps. I have been gyming since early december and it seems to be helping with riding. I am also planning to go to pilates lessons to help with flexability and co-ordination
