  1. not true, Stan has one black pad and one CRM on his 24" and its one of the most powerful brakes I have ever seen! Its like he has tar, mega loud and bitey as hell! Danny Mac came to tartybikes a few months ago, he tried some tnn pads but found them too powerful on his smooth rim!
  2. personally I don't think the ultimate arms perform any better than any other arms. Infact, I always found the bearings go notchy and then its hard to dial in the arms so they move at the same time. I recommend shimano arms if your setup needs more clearance, or the Avid sd7 if you have room. Attach that to an SD7 lever (they have a good speed dial adjustment rather than XTRs crap version). Some Shimano SP5 cable and some tnn LGV pads. Oh, a booster helps LOADS for hold, if you havnt got a booster on TRY IT, your brake will be 50X better at holding with one.
  3. the key most important part is to keep your weight forward and go fast, the rest of it will just happen automaticly if you do it right
  4. If I'm reading what you're saying right, then surely pretty much every time you pull your brake you'd basically be lubricating those points? In any case, like I said before - you can lube sticky pistons wherever they may be on your brake using a spray of GT-85 or similar. It's easy to do, and works fine. Completely cured any problems I had with sticky pistons when I had them last (which was years ago now). Other than that, water isn't going to be any harm to your seals or virtually anything in your brake, so there's pretty much no reason to not use it... Mike - re: contesting your posts, did you see the bit where Psycholist pointed out the lubricating properties of water, something you said it didn't possess?
  5. I used to ride one of these - they're good frames! Nice geometry, pretty light, pretty cheap - all good. If it's of any interest, there's an Atomz AKT full build on the Tarty countdown sale. It's about half-price now. May be worth a check if you're thinking of properly mixing up your setup EDIT: By OBM!
  6. Hate to be a pedant, but it's a hang nothing* *Hang 10 refers to 10 toes hanging off your pegs, like a hang ten in surfing. No feet on no pegs = hang nothing!
