  1. I remember the 1st time a comp was cancelled....back cowm quarry! I can't remember the date though. I went up anyway and had a pretty cool ride, the sections were pretty interesting with all the snow!
  2. had a pretty good ride there actually made the sections "interesting" anyway.
  3. yeah, its cancelled as a comp, but its still on as a non-comp mess about. I am gonna try and get there, but we'll see when I get on the country roads.
  4. BANANA BIKE no need to badger, I am well up for it.

    Fork/Brake Help

check in the box, there should be another adaptor for the front (at least all the brakes we sell do)
  6. they pull less cable than vee levers and so actually give more power but also feel like shit (real spongy). Get an avid, best levers by far!
  7. I'll be there riding Blue (or possibly black).
  8. lol, this is my kind of topic! Right, lets get things started...Vee brakes are amazing! don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. If they say they are crap thats because they have never ridden with a nice setup or can't set them up for shit. I have been riding for 13 years now and I have ridden a rear vee for 5 years. In that time I have Won world cup events, got into UCI world cup finals and come 2nd in the British champs. I am not trying to be big headed, but just letting you know I am not just a newb. What you need to understand with vee is that they work in a different way to maguras and as such, do not feel like maguras. A lot of people swap from a maggie and and then say the vee doesn't work as well...so remember, they are different. A vee won't have as much bite as a maggie (possibly why a lot of people diss them), but a vee has a LOT of sheer holding power, more than any maggie can give. This is where my love of vee brakes comes in..I mean why do you want so much bite in the first place? the ONKLY thing its bad for is backhopping down slopes, but I just turn the bike sideways to counter that. Holding power is the most important aspect of the brake in my eyes, just think of all the times your depending on the brake....taps, gaps, hooks basicly any move where the wheel is wanting to go backwards, this is where a vee just kicks ass! Other points to remember is that a vee with good cable, is easier to pull than a water bled maggie because you can adjust the springs to be as powerful or slack as you like. The pads last longer because they can't wobble and wear at silly angles, vees are lighter, you can get spare parts nearly anywhere, no pipes to burst, cant freeze, are more adjustable and easier to set up. I think thats everything
  9. the bb is too high for my liking, made the bike ride strangely.
  10. that spring looked like it had too sharp a bend, they don't snap when they bend the whole length. as for alternatives, I always found a cheap wood saw worked very well, its very springy and slightly thicker so can take a beating.
  11. are you using a single ply for the rear?
  12. been driving for 5 years now and not been pulled once. Well ok thats a lie, I got followed to work once and then asked to sit in the back of their car, but that was just to check I had insurance for that car as it said it was registered to a older woman (my mum) and me'n Mark looked suspicious.
  13. I am sure the brake is stiff enough like that (even no booster is stiff enough) but its not about the feel, its about the power, a booster on top is 1,000,000x better than one underneith for holding power.
  14. a booster under the brake won't be nearly as effective as a booster on top, there is a lot of flex from the adaptors and vee posts.
  15. sigh, here we go again...deep breath.....veesarebetterthanmaguraaaaaa! narr seriously, stick with the vees, they work just as well as a magura, are lighter, easier to pull and you won't need heavy adaptors that limit rim clearence
  16. fair play, thats pretty cool! I studied graffic design at college, I would have loved to have one of my designs on a coin!
  17. cheers for the pics Mark! Sorry there wasn't much for you to ride on the bmx, we need to go again with you on your mod or echo. Thanks everyone for the nice comments too!
  18. I used to think those frames are ugly, I generally think curved tubes on 26" looks gash, but blimey, its grown on me!
  19. using the TPA is fine in small doses, but it sounds like your winding it on too much and making the plastic dial come out of the threaded push rod. If you need to do more than a couple of turns, its best to move the cylinders closer to the rim.
  20. well I work at Tartybikes in Preston, so Blackburn is well on the way home lol
  21. cool, we tend to ride after work a lot in places like Burnley and Blackburn, but more local at the weekends (and when the sun stays up in summer)
