  1. I highly doubt Rockman made those tubes
  2. lol, Martyn told me that the Hex is almost exactly the same geo as his old Cannondale frame, the only difference being the bb is 20mm higher, he felt all oldskool when he first rode it.
  3. because round tubes are a very good shape to make stuff from, making round tubes with better butting will be lighter than some random hydroforming and wont have any places for stress risers to gather (which that frame looks like it has).
  4. there is nothing wrong with a bike being a little heavy, I feel you are kinda shooting yourself in the foot riding a bike this light. Firstly it's never going to be that strong or stiff (proto super light front rim with fewer spokes? No thanks). Learning to ride with a super light bike is like learning to drive in a super car, sure it will feel nice, but when you ever ride a heavier bike (because lets face it, you wont always have a bike this light) it will feel like shit to you. Because the bike is so light, you won't have to put as much energy and technique into riding and it may feel like it's improving your riding, you're actually doing yourself harm. I think you should give the weight saving obsession a rest, get some more practical parts and use a super light bike for when you are in the world champs. (mainly talking about tyres and stuff her) Other than the bike not really being practical for every day use, it is pretty good looking.
  5. hydroforming has it place, it means you can make shapes of tubing where it would be impossible before and allows frame companies to make frames stronger and lighter. Unfortunately what Rockman seems to have done is find some interesting tubing in a factory and decided it could be used in a frame. I very much doubt the frame is lighter because of the tube shapes and I very much doubt its stronger either. Green is a nice colour though
  6. almost 22 now, but getting very frail.
  7. from what I have seen of london, it has tons and tons of great spots, loads of fla tbanks, random 70s architecture and mazes of housing estates. The usual places people go are really over done and misses out on some amazing places. Oxford was one of the better places I have been too, seemed to be quite a lot of good stuff to ride.
  8. Street: London Blackpool Liverpool Bristol Oxford Natural Shipley Glen (west yorks) Addingham Moorside (west yorks) Lee Mill Quarry (east lancs) Heysham (lancs) Back Cowm Quarry (east lancs) Kebs (west yorks) Blackstone Edge (possibly the best natural in the country east lancs) Porthcawl (s wales) Matlock Quarry (midlands)
  9. Chris REALLY needs to get a higher front end!! But yeah, nice one guys, keep it up.

    Bar Height

from memory my bars are around 1040mm (41") and my bb is +20mm so that leaves the difference at 84cm
  11. riding tech lines with minimal hops = f**king hard and amazing to watch.

    Bb7 New Style

yeah, when I took my stem off I took the hose off the brake and didn't need to re-bleed. Setting up a hydro through the steerer is the same hassle as cable.
  13. you got lucky, they are probably the worst shop I have ever dealt with.

I always found cable brakes feel pretty crap when run through the steerer as there are usually pretty tight bends for it to fit. I have a hope with the hose down my steerer and I have taken the stem on and off a few times without having to re-bleed.
  15. I agree with Mark, that riding was pretty nuts. I pretty much hate mods, but that vid almost convinced me that they are acceptable for adults to ride.
  16. I have had a Flux, but I found it a tad uncomfortable and I thought it looked pretty bulky too. I then bought a Hex (to match my bike lol) and it's much smaller looking and way comfier...win.

    Facebook.

I don't understand how people can get so addicted to it? I go on every other day for about 5 mins just to see if anyone has done something interesting, sometimes I update my status, sometimes a friend will chat to me, but for the most it's pretty boring. Perhaps it's just that I am not the most social person in the world.
  18. I won't go into great detail, but trials riders are definitaly weight weenies! a lot of riders will sacrifice the rideability of the bike just to make it lighter. A good weight for stock is around the 10kg mark, that's doable with a smart choice on quality parts saving weight in some places, but putting on weight in others, much lighter than that then it either costs stupid money for top parts, or you need to modify what you already have. My bike weighs 11.5kg, I would like it lighter, but I havn't snapped or broken anything on it as it is.

    Danny Macaskill

repost, but was worth another watch.
  20. I imagine not, then again I imagine in Spain they don't have many wet logs and if he was to enter a comp with the potential for wet logs, he wouldn't run those tyres.
  21. normally I would take the piss about weight saving too, but this is justified, Benito is the best in his class and the weight saving will actually help in comps rather than some kid just riding in the streets. The bike is very....silver.
  22. Pros: Opens up some new moves like bunnyhops Easier to do static hooks More fun Better on two wheels Cons: Harder to tap large up to fronts are a tad trickier slightly worse on the rear wheel (though this is very dependant on the rest of the geo and what components you are running)
  23. with a frame with a bb in the clouds like that, yes, you will need a high rise stem
