  1. ride brakeless, the only way you should ride a bmx
  2. My fave setup is: Avid SD7 lever (light and has useful speed dial adjustment (I used it all the time)) Shimano LX arms (non linkage type, they are light, stiff, have strong hardwear (no snapped pins on these) and are slim so are easier to use with wider rims) Shimano SP5 cable (I just WONT use anything else, nothing comes close! It is oversized gear cable that can be bought in 7meter lengths so can be cut exactly to length, it doesn't compress and is the smoothest cable I have ever tried) I used the Neon adaptors with no issues, but for the ultimate solution I drilled and tapped the lower 4-bolt mount to accept an M8 vee brake post. It kinda ruined the frame for magura use, but it is the lightest, stiffest and best fitting solution for a vee. I also use TNN vee brake pads, these are pretty much the slimmest and best performing pads out, highly recommended! I also recommend using a booster even if the brake is plenty stiff enough already, a booster will improve the holding power of the brake ten fold, the best being the Shimano XTR carbon and the Slasa carbon but both are pretty rare. As for the front brake, I recommend a vee over a magura. A Vee is more adjustable, more powerful, lighter and vee forks don't snap as easily as magura forks.
  3. the Airbag would be cool, but a load of trials riders with a top speed of 8mph wouldn't exactly make the best use of it lol

    Foam Grips

I use foam grips BECAUSE they are grippy when things are sweaty. They are much much much grippier when hot than rubber grips that have sweat stay on the surface.
  5. Ali_C_Hex Currently have mgs4, Red dead (though I found the game pretty crap) and gta4
  6. some streety stuff? A quarter would be cool

    its RODE not road gaahhhhh!!!
  8. you can bleed a hope with no bleed kit at all, it's very easy. obviously take the rotor and pads far away from where you are working. Tip the lever so the resivoir is horizontal and remove cap. I'ts also worth stuffing some meths soaked paper towel into the caliper to help reduce the chance of any dot fluid getting in there and getting on the pads in the future. Now all you need to do is undo the bleed nipple on the caliper, pull the lever and while holding the lever pulled, tighten up the bleed nipple, then let go of the lever. you will see the fluid being sucked through the brake. repeat this until no bubbles come out of the caliper (remember to keep the resivoir topped up so it doesnt suck any air in). Once satisfied, fill the resivoir back up and replace cap and diaphram. give the caliper a VERY good clean and make sure it's dry, re-fit pads and it should be properly bled with no air.
  9. that Orange thing never really left the drawing board I think, I was on the Ashton team when that happened but I don't think any frames/imports actually came about from it.
  10. Martyn was wearing one at the cycle show, I must admit I wasn't blown away with how it looks.
  11. some old clips from Shipley Glen back in 2008 (I think). I planned on making them into a vid (got about 40 clips all together) but I don't particually like my style and a lot of the riding looks scrappy. These are the only ones I am partly happy with:
  12. now there's an insult if ever I saw one
  13. you two have the skills! Nice one.
  14. I wouldn't mind going sometime, would be good to meet up with you again Chris!
  15. little harsh.. I know it's tricky to make frames different, but these tubes don't look like they have taken much advantage of hydroforming, They could have made the tubes join so there is more contact between them to make things stiffer or something, as it stands they are just weird shaped tubes with more chance of cracking. I think it could have been pulled off better that's all. Maybe if the downtube was the other way round, perhaps the two tubes could be welded for most of their length untill the tube tapers away, that would look different and make the front end stiffer too.
  16. don't think you can patent custom things what with them being custom n'all
  17. was around 9.3kg I think, the lightest bike I have ever had
  18. I was entering comps including UCI world champs, hence the light bike.
  19. narr I wasn't having a dig, but is there anyone who isn't still learning? I bet Gilles learns new stuff and I know Mr Macaskill learns new things often.
