If you want to go full pimp, then I think the Light Bicycle carbon rim is the ultimate choice. Tyre-wise Conti cant really be beaten for grip and lifespan

If I was going to buy either I'd be getting the PS5...I've played on an X-Box once and hated the controller setup and that put me off them completely (irrational I'm sure). I've always had Playstations so I think I have a brand loyalty that I don't with the X-Box...I imagine a lot of the people buying the new PS5 might be similar. I don't even know the specs of each and I wouldn't even read up on them, I'd just get the PS5

I've never seen that before, that's a decent sized hook even with the slope...pretty sure that's close to chin height! Yes the slope makes it easier but I still never considered that tappable!

are standard hub mounted free wheels compatible with freewheel cranks?
Ali C replied to DanielClark's topic in Trials Chat
I was a little lost on how it worked too but that explained it perfectly, nice one -
Funny looking back on his riding after a few years, you automatically assume the size of riding always progresses but those are still some of the biggest hooks and taps I’ve ever seen. bunnyhopping F T W

saw this topic, instantly thought of exhausts too. I live in Glasgow and every night I have to put up with shit sounding cars blasting up and down. The worst ones are the ones that "pop" and "bang" every time they let off the accelerator and there's one car in particular that has an insane "gurgle" that lasts until they accelerate again. They always do this at night time and this is a built up area...all I can think is that they are just horrible people. I also don't get the intensity of some team supporters. I love watching downhill and can get quite excited but I never jump off the sofa and shout. I also ride myself and would race if there were local events but football supporters get so excited for a sport they don't even take part in. They'll go out into the street screaming if their team wins. I just don't "get" it.

Issue with chain tensioner - New inspired Fourplay Pro 2020
Ali C replied to ichabodcr's topic in Trials Chat
Not sure what advice Tarty gave you but I’m glad it helped, one thing to note in case they didn’t mention it (and to save others from calling them) that chains do stretch so after a couple of hard riding sessions the chain/tensioner should sit further away from the frame which would help fix the clearance issue -
it's been a while since I fitted mine but they did require some stretching if I remember correctly. A good way of putting inserts on is the Cushcore method (I made a video but I'll try and explain anyway). Essentially you put the insert on the rim before the tyre...it makes it a lot easier to get a hold and stretch it when there's no tyre in the way. Next place the wheel inside the tyre (bead not in the rim). Then choose one bead to work on and try and seat the tyre...a good technique is to use a little effort to get the tyre bead underneath the insert (sounds hard but when you find the technique it's actually not too bad). Work the one bead onto the rim...getting under the insert gets the bead into the rim well which gives a looser fit but you might still need a tyre leaver towards the end. Then repeat the process on the other side. I can't stress enough how much easier the process is if you get the tyre bead under the insert! I really struggled with my Cushcore the first time but eventually I could fit it by hand without tooo much issue, the Rimpact is easier than a Cushcore. I hope that helps!

Not sure on the ply of the tyres but I certainly remember the soft compound version and the tantrum I had at a Clan show with them because I couldn’t get the speed to clear the jump box because of the drag lol

Haha yeah, I assume that’s the wrong way then? I don’t do them much at all and I’ve no idea which way I’d rather do them now

This is my earliest video, from around 2002. Filmed by whoever I could get to hold the camera and edited by James Hyland (because we were both sponsored by Cleanbikes and he had editing software. The quality is super potato. (and yes, I had recently learned X-ups :P )

Total beginner. What style bike and wheel size?
Ali C replied to Kitemouse's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
to throw a spanner in the works I don't agree with the Mod as a first bike route UNLESS you're young or used to smaller bikes (BMX etc). If you've come from MTB or Moto then a 20" bike will feel straaaaaange! I think a small 26" hardtail or a street trials bike (24 or 26 inch) will be easier to get used to and swap between. The 20" mod might be a little easier on the rear wheel but at the sacrifice of familiarity...so you'll be able to back hop it easier but anything else might just feel too strange and despite a bigger bike being slighty more work, the fact it's closer to what you're used to means it might be easier to pick it up and get riding without needing to get used to a completely different feeling. I started on an 18" XC bike when I was 13 and I really believe having a bike that was a bit more work to ride taught me a LOT on body positioning and techniques. -
Pffft, backhops and rear wheel hops are the same thing. Hopping backwards however...

Replacement rotors and pads for Inspired Fourplay? Brakes slipping.

I can't which is why I don't run those pads haha! -
mainly Ricky TBF, he really helped speed the process up as he knows people at YouTube UK from when he went down to the offices to help get Danny's channel fast tracked to being verified

#bringbacktaps That was great! Seems most seatless trials riders these days have pretty comp style set ups and concentrate on single moves rather than linking stuff together (I'm guilty of this on my latest Echo build) so it was really cool to see you ride like people used to and to a high level too (especially when you're on a bike bigger than you're used to). Good work

UPDATE: Channel is recovered! I still have all my videos and surprisingly most of my subscribers too! I'm just waiting for Google/YouTube to finish their checks and then I can make all my videos public again and continue as normal...I'm hoping it will be ready for today's upload but it's out of my hands for now.

I can confirm this had nothing to do with Patreon. It was a targeted spear attack by people posing as a video editing company asking me for paid promotion in a video. After a couple of emails they asked to talk further on WhatsApp (which isn't that unusual, I had the same from some of my other sponsors) so I gave them my phone number to add me. After some chatting on WhatsApp and agreeing a price they explained the process to me and provided a link to their site with a download for the app. The site had a padlock in the URL so I thought it was safe. Clicking the download instead downloaded a cookie sharing virus which could gain access to cookies saved by websites including saved log ins such as my YouTube one. I assume they then used my phone number to get access to the password reset code and reset my password locking me out. I'm now talking with google trying to get it back but I think they blocked my device in the process so I can't even begin the recovery process just yet. I've been told it can be recovered and they've shut the channel down to remove control the hackers had, unfortunately this has lost me over 20,000 subs so far which is frustrating as I was just a few hundred away from 100K. Looking back there were some red flags I failed to see...the first email was basic to say the least and I even shared it with Mark as it was quite random. I took the bait though as I have had emails from Asian brands who have sent questionable emails in the past but have been legit. The other red flags were bad English spelling for what was an American company, I assumed it was an agency working on their behalf and again just assumed they were Asian and just miss pelt some stuff. They also wouldn't reply with direct answers to my questions and just had copy/paste replies but again not unheard of when dealing with an agency (even Google now are giving me some copy/pate responses). Lastly they let me set my price and they didn't even flinch when I asked for more than I thought I'd get, normally they have a set price and only have a small wiggle room. At the end of the day I'm a bit embarrassed I fell for it, the good thing is the virus doesn't multiply so it didn't spread from my machine (and I've now removed it) and I don't believe this type of virus gives them access to any sensitive information like card details so I'm hoping no money was taken (I've cancelled my business card anyway as I used that to buy my new anti virus software so had to enter the card details before I knew what the virus was). It's frustrating losing that many followers especially being that close to 100K but I've had messages from people saying they un-subbed temporarily and will re-sub when it's fixed so I'm hoping the damage isn't as bad as it looks but we'll have to see...I don't want to get my hopes up too much.

caustic soda only effects aluminium, you'd need paint stripper to remove the paint, it won't effect any metal parts so no stress about the threads
-
It's been a while since I've fitted Arcade cranks so I can't remember the specifics but if I remember correctly you don't need any spacers on the bb threads (like fitting a 73mm bb to a 68mm shell)...the tube goes in the middle of the bb and stops the bearings from binding and the rest of the spacers are used to centre the cranks so the arms are equal distance from each chainstay.

That's the best generation Avid BB7 MTB brake (they didn't have a road version back then)...such good brakes!
-
It was a road bb5 I fitted but I didn’t realize it. Don’t fit the road version with v brake levers as it’ll be underpowered... it would work with Bmx levers though. Stick with the mtb version if you’re going to use a v brake lever.
