    Injured :-(

I am 6 weeks into at least 8 off the bike. It sucks. I broke my foot so I couldnt even carry anything about, been stuck in my house for pretty much the whole time.
  2. did you know you can also use Paypal at Tartybikes too?
  3. The Eno freewheel has sealed bearings, and as they bed in they ooze grease onto the ratchet mechanism. If you take the lockring off your freewheel, you can clean out the pawls and springs and that'll get it working much better.
  4. they never do Mine don't anyway.
  5. probably the axle is longer than the dropout, so the bolt is tightening up against the axle instead of the frame, a quick fix would be to pop a washer over the axle between the hub and frame, the better way would be to file down the end of the axle slightly. both will fix your problem. the skipping feeling may have been your axle, but it was more likely the chain was too long like your friend said, if you managed to get 3 links out that deffo sounds like the case! the position it's in now it fine, but you could remove the pin behind the main bolt thats pressing against the hanger, this will allow the tensioner to sit even closer to the frame increasing the wrap around the rear cog. Edit: Just seen the other pics, you should deffo get the tensioner closer to the frame as I mentioned with removing the pin, and there is still room to get another link out of that chain I should think. you should also try and have quite a lot of spring tension if possible.
  6. laddering without someone holding it at the bottom is so much more exiting, you need to try it to really understand it
  7. "you can see the fork doesn't catastrophically fail" Yeah, as he is holding it in his hand, a few hooks however! I would rather ride the dented steel forks than the carbon ones. I am sure these forks can be made strong enough, but the way I see it, they are made for maybe the very few riders who choose to compete at the very top. If you want to buy these forks to just go and do normal every day riding, then that's pretty stupid. I doubt they'll be any stronger than Trialtech forks, they are the only 4bolt forks I would recommend for every day use. The ideal situation for these forks is for someone who has two bikes, one for every days use, then these forks would go on the comp only bike.
  8. may as well get an Inspired Hex.

    Disc Brake Help

I mean some disc tabs on hubs are not drilled all the way though, but the Try-all's are, so you can ignore that. Hope pads do tend to knock, have you taken the pads out recently? If so did you put them back in the same side of the caliper? The back of the pads gets a slight indentation and the paint gets removed by the piston, swapping the pads over could mean they do not fit on the pistons quite as well and could result in movement in the pads. If you did take them out, try putting them in the other way round.

    Disc Brake Help

could the bolts be longer and bottoming out? (some hubs have closed ended disc tabs). What disc is it anyway?
  11. REALLY annoyed I didn't get to ride with you! Looked like you had a good time with other people though, that vid was cool, good riding as usual!
  12. there is more than one gear ratio for stocks.
  13. I think disc cleaner is ok for motor use because they get up to speeds and heats hot enough to burn though any film left by the cleaner. I am pretty sure most cleaners either have some sort of rust inhibitor or simply move all the gunk from around the brake onto the pads making them shit. Clean water gets rid of almost everything, it impossible to get a brake back working to 100% once it's contaminated no matter what tricks you use, but water works as well as anything else if not better.
  14. nice one Will, looks like you are getting on with your new bike pretty well! I would love to go to Ogwin again, watching it just now brought back good memories, such a nice place!
  15. I sometimes ride with music, usually a mix of everything and I ride with the loop style ear plugs so they can't fall out. I won't listen to music if I am with friends though.
  16. there is no way I would put disk brake cleaner anywhere near my brake! Clean water every time!.
  17. pretty sure that depends on what tyres and forks you are running more than anything.
  18. yeah, they have a level bb, not +40
  19. I think a mod stem would be a bad idea, I would just try either a longer stock stem, or some higher bars (like Trialtech hi rise).
  20. Pretty sure most cycle tracks (like velodromes) go anti-clockwise.......just sayin.
  21. I think he means it was a walk in the park for him
  22. from (my vague) memory, they are: 1090 72 +10 380
