  1. its put on as a plasma jet (not a paint) which is a very expensive process. As I said, people class trials rims as almost a throw-away-able item. Rims are so light weight and so minimal it would seem a little crazy to add a $150 coating for the rim to be replaced in less than 12 months.
  2. yeah, this was something you could get years ago, I remember it being on goatwheels.com. I haven't personally tried the Plazmatic coating, I have tried other types (less harsh) and they are pretty sweet. I think for most riders rims are too expendable to consider having the treatment though.
  3. yeah, I hate poisoning my brake, makes me feel really guilty plus I hate it when all the paint inside comes off and clogs the brake up..... .....oh wait?
  4. in my eyes, the Der Kaiser is the best tyre out there at the moment, it has the best grip (fact) most puncture resistance, most stability and best wear life. It is a little heavy, but that's one negative out of 4 positives.
  5. have you actually read the thread?
  6. I don't remember the actual moment, or my age, but I do remember the bike, so blue little 12" jobbie which did have stabilizers at first (I remember getting stuck in puddles) but at some point must have had the stabilisers taken off. The first bike I remember properly riding up and down the avenue on was some Moto GP style bike with pedals on, I think that was the bike I had when I leaned to ride properly on, after that I had a "hedgehopper" I think by Apollo from a local bike shop, I know that never had stabilisers on so I must have been near 8 or 9 by that point.

    AMAAAAAAZING!!!
  8. good riding, boring video though.
  9. they would have a standard 4 pronged freewheel tool if they have any in stock, that would do the job
  10. if you had ordered one from Tartybikes earlier when you first mentioned it, it's very likely it would have been with you tomorrow, too late now I guess. I would pay halfords a visit.
  11. The whole point about their feature is that it's new videos from that week that have been posted that people might have missed. Because there are so many media outlets for 'normal' MTB stuff it's easy to miss, so they collate the best to give people a decent selection of them. For trials, there are only a couple of places videos get posted (this forum being one of the main ones) so there might not be quite the same requirement, plus planning up to 4 weeks ahead seems a little strange as by that time you'd hope there'd have been some better videos posted somewhere.
  12. Doesn't work like that and you missed the point.
  13. to quote Tartybikes: "These freewheels may appear to 'rattle' from new - this is down to the bearing system. It would be possible to add an extra bearing in and stop the rattle, however this would then cause the freewheel to lock up!"
  14. I hate getting in trouble in anyway at all so I'll usually avoid places I know I'll get kicked off, however regarding how I'll react depends on how I am treated. Isome security guard comes up at insults me or is aggressive, I'll normally give as good as I get, if they are nice and treat me like a member of society I'll treat them with respect. Today I got told to "fall off" when riding along a wall by a group of lads above me on a slope, I treated this one with a show of my middle finger as I HATE people who want me to hurt myself. Dicks.
  15. would the cutouts be for looks or weight saving? Either way I wouldn't bother, you'll save ~5g, is 5g really going to help with your riding? there would be a risk of the hub failing, it depends how well you do it.
  16. you'll still need loads of stackers, but yeah, those bars are pretty sweet!
  17. 3x isn't overkill at all, the hub will thank you for it too. As said, don't bother with ti spokes, get some Sapin double butted instead. The echo TR axle is an M6 thread. Ti Rotor bolts are OK, make sure you use a good quality tool with them though to stop them rounding.
  18. rolling the bars forwards usually puts most riders into a really nasty "elbows out" riding position. sure it makes the bike better on the rear wheel, but bikes are not pogosticks and should be setup to be ridden, it's not like they are hard to backhop with the bars in the correct position either.
  19. but yeah, forwards sweep on a streety bike is a no go.
