well, firstly it doesn't. Secondly it was designed and made that way so there is nothing to put right. It's not like the race is half way up a gradual curve or anything. Rather than make a crown with sharp angles that doesn't cope well with flex they designed a small radius to eliminate a week point. Hundreds of forks sold, not many returned = job well done I think?

to clear things up, the Trialtech fork doesn't have an integrated race. secondly, there may be a gap under the race when installed as the Trialtech fork's crown race has a curved cut edge for strength as a lot of forks with a square cut races end up snapping.

The bit he hooked was at an angle though and with a downhill run up you can get some pretty explosive power. It is pretty crazy though, but perhaps not as impossible as people may think (as he proves).

your hub is a "freehub" rather than a "freewheel". A freehub has the engagement system built in (usually ratchets and pawls) and a splined area to slide a cassette (or single cogs) onto with a lockring to tighten them up. A freewheel is a single enclosed engagement system (again with ratchets and pawls) with threads which allow you to screw it onto specific hubs or cranks. it sounds like the engagement system in your hub has broken (not surprising as it's a cheap hub and trials puts huge stresses through them). You may be able to repair it but as everyone else is suggesting a full hub upgrade would be worth while. Af far as the cassette is concerned, it looks fine to me? The bottom two cogs usually don't have plastic spacers and just have a wider base.

don't see why it wouldn't work, both run dot fluid so no issues with seals. Sure the hope lever may have a different leverage ratio, but all that will do is effect how firm or spongy the lever will feel. The difference would be minimal anyway so I am sure the lever would feel fine. You may need to buy specific fittings from either Hope or Avid though

not a fan of Ultimate calipers (or levers). They are wider than Shimano's offerings plus I found the bearings couldn't cope very well with the fore/aft movement trials dishes out. My bearings always ended up notchy making the brake impossible to set the brake up so both pads hit at the same time. At the time of press, my fave combo is: Avid SD7 levers Shimano LX/XT calipers TNN LGV pads Shimano linear cable Shimano carbon booster.

yeah Ben that was sweet! I am so glad you went to street as now I get to watch you wizz about the place doing massive hops and sweet lines. Keep it up.

I am not a fan of maguras by any means, in my eyes a couple of maguras main selling points are ease of setup and fast returning lever (though that does have it's downsides too). This brake now has twice as many bolts, cant fit on frames that have wonky mounts or rims that have angled sidewalls, the pads rub like a magura with sticky slaves and the reservoir brings in issues about storing the bike upside down. So not only has it taken away the two only good things about maguras, it's added new problems too (small bolts to strip for an example).

As far as I can see, it's taken all the good things about Maguras, and replaced them with bad things.

I have a Hope Pro 2 front hub, I got the 15mm axle option, bought some alloy bar off ebay, turned it down to 15mm and tapped it to take M10 bolts (same as hope hubs) so now I have a hope front disk hub that takes 8mm bolts
