  1. alpine stars jet, i think they are, the older version anyway, cost me about £26, they are great, i can feel the bar, but at the same time not too thin. Theyve also got leather pad things below your little finger on the palm of your hand, thats where mowst gloves first rip, like my first set of alpinestars gloves, IMO bloody great gloves. alpine stars kit just click on the gloves bit and they are on there. i would put a pic up but its a flash site and i cant be bothered to doa print screenetc.
  2. its a load of bullsh1t, the government and other organisations that have absolutely no hobbies what so ever, accept for drinking scotch or somert are stopping us doing everything, its ridiculous and i for one am fed up of it, it does say that cycling along designated trails will still be ok. anyway, i dont see how they can enforce it because the land that most of the sports happen on is private land. then again...... i spose its like the whole fox hunting case, thats all private property but its still being stopped. hmm..... well i for one wont be stopping riding trials, sod that.
  3. may i just say that battery acid is not sodium hydroxide, for one thing sodium hydroxide is an alkali/base, not an acid, in bateries it is sulphuric acid, no wonder its a good paint stripper its a very strong acid. sorry just had to be said......
  4. alls ill say is 'GOOD GOD, they actually made something like that' ;) thats disgusting
  5. why not use it on the trail, ive used my t-raptor on the trails, cant go very fast unless downhill but so what, so yeh i should have thought youd be alrighht.
  6. i run a 2.6 inner tube in my maxxis at about 25 psi and i ri my wheel all the time, prob because im just a rough as fook rider.

    Water Bleed

yeh a bit of ptfe tape would work but you dont need to buy it off of the net, just go to any hard ware or DIY place and they sell it. and its not very expensive.
  8. yeh i saw some of that, then when i was watching vanilla sky i recognised the film, even some of the lines were the same, yet i hadnt seen vanilla sky before....took me a while to click. personally i thought they were both crap!

i agree that is unlikely that trek actually invented the material on their own but they may have employed people to do research into new materials for their frames to make their bikes lighter stronger etc, and they make and test the various materials that were thought up. trek is a massive company so probably have a big enough budget to be able to afford something like that. the other option is that they heard about this new metal and then bought the patent for the material. somebody said above that Ti isn't as expensive as people think that it is, to be honest i cant say asi agree with that, the reason why Ti is so expensive is the production cost of extracting the titanium from its ore, this is expensive because about 97% of the energy used by the process goes into makng Mg(magneisium), its also a batch process which means it starts ans stops, so it again costs more money. sorry about the ramble there..... :">

    Mod

yeh, thats prob the best length to get, it doesn't matter if its a bit longer but youll have clearance on pretty much any frame.
  11. i got shit loads of technic lego, its still in all of the original boxes and occasionally ill get one out and build it, did anyone see the white space shuttle, now that was a mint model it did loads of stuff. i had a couple of sets of mechano but i used to get annoyed with it, it never seemes to work as well as lego for some reason and i never had knex for some reason.
  12. to be honest the colour isn't my cup of tea but i do like the shape etc of it, i would definately agree with some of these other people, in my experience i have rounded more straight blade and philips/pozi drive bolts when tightening them up, this is becasue when doing them as tight as poss as the screwdriver slips out.if i was you id get some stainless steel allens. :)
  13. ive always used 1 finger on my lever, i#whenever i try 2 i cant do anything because i cant get a goood enough grip on my bars. your tpa adjusts how far the pads are away from the rim, so therefore how far your lever moves, to move the actual lever in but not adjusting the tpa there is a little grub screw on the outside of your lever near where it fastens to the master cylinder, wind this screw in and you find the lever will move towards the handlebar, this will make absolutely no ajustment to your brake.(i think) hope that helped.
  14. i just want to say that them mech mounts are designed to bend so that when you hit the mech it bends that rather than your frame, if you put a steel one on it is more likely to bend your frame...which is more expensive to replace than a little mech hanger, thats my opinion anyway.

    Koxx

halfords sell koxx, just tell them what you want and theyll order it for you.
  16. super tacky (42a) gets my vote, ive had my high roller on the rear for about 6 monthes, and it now needs replacing, so its worn great, and i usually have to ride on average bout 4 miles to where i ride most of the time, so its been great, just one thing, if you want them to last dont do skids (purposefully) on tarmac etc because that just rips the tread off of them. so IMO get super tacky just dont do skids.
  17. booster looks great, i didn't realise how thick it is, now you should get yourself some proper spacers machined rather that using nust like that. it would look really good then, also how did you go about making the carbon fibre (if you did) because i thought that when you make it youhave to bake it at very high temperatures so that all the layers lock togeather giving it its strength (or something like that)

    Chain Life

i not sure what 9 speed chains are about but bloody hell, how much are XTR chains. everything else that says XTR on it is damn expensive for what it is.
  19. they are called do gooders, they think they are doing the community a favour (somehow), i mean the ones that stop you riding trails etc, not so much the cheesewire ones, personally they just piss me off. i hope they catch the B*****d who did that and lock him up, he should be dont for murder, not manslaughter because he went out with the intent to harm other people. suprisingly, things like the cheesewire thing and that haven't been done in my area, but now its been mentioned, i will be a bit more cautious.
  20. yeh, i probably would have done, but as i dont have a pic.....
  21. on saturday, my mates bike was stolen in the tunstall area of stoke on trent by a pair of chavs. the bike is very distinctive, 04 scott yz1 silver dmr sidekick forks. blue club roost handle bars, snafu pedals sticky finger tyres rear wheel, deore hub on mavid x221 rim (something like that) red brake pads ground outer chainring (the big one on triple chainring sets) anybody in stoke on trent area please look out (i know that there are a fair few people from stoke on here) please look out, its a very distinctive bike, thanks alot onzamad
  22. thats something ive been wondering about, are freehibs ment to have much grease in them or do you generally run them fairly dry. thanks
  23. yeh. thats how i was thinking of doing it, just bodge something under the pawls to keep them on the same engagement points in the freehub. the only prob is, them engagement points could get worn you fairly quickly, especially for trials so you may have to take it apart again and put the pawls on different engagement points. hope that helped...
  24. well, i dont know any figures, but my guess is, just have it so that when you press the chain in between the front and rear sprockets, it should be firm but not super hard to do, sorry i cant really explain it any better, thats my method anyway.
