  1. I'll be there with bells on! ...I'll start thinking of excuses now
  2. I do the same. The lines have started to wear from 0-80mm, so I measure from 100mm, and just take 100mm off the measurement. The tip on mine has about 2mm of movement too, so its not accurate at all. Reading all that back, it's probably time I bought a new tape! Seats look good though, that's some speedy work! Didn't want the crotch strap then?!
  3. Set yourselves a decent several hours. Took me most of the day by the time I had the pair of old seats out, seatbelts out, airbag plugs resistored, everything measured and cut, all of it bolted together and in. You won't do it in just a couple of hours, if that's what you're hoping!
  4. And to add to that, taking the back seats out and fitting buckets does not maketh the track car! Soooo many people have a "track car" they use to go to work in everyday, and see a track maybe once or twice a year...very annoying! Girlfriend's '14 plate Corsa she uses as her driving instructor car has just been in a 6 car pile up. Not a great start to the morning! All caused by a f**king German woman with a puppy loose on her lap while driving. She pushed 2 cars out of the way, flipping them, before ploughing into the back of Lauren, who then hit a new Fiesta, who piled into the back of a Range Rover. Gonna be a right old game for the insurance!
  5. I want Adam to take mine out. Honestly cannot see how he can get such a good time with such a piddley little car, he must be superhuman
  6. I don't really have free time, lol! Only just finished a house re-wire which I did for 3 hours a night...took nearly a month of working every day after work...that meant leaving the house at 6:45 in the morning, and not getting home until 8:30 - to say I'm tired is an understatement! In all honesty, I never really meant to get quite as in depth as this, haha. It's kinda spiraled a bit out of control, but it's meant I've got rid of LOADS of unnecessary wires due to removing the A/C, so its no bad thing I guess. Got a TFSI turbo the same as Prawn, but have got the added bonus of a ported and polished head, uprated exhaust valves, uprated exhaust springs, and a bigger charge pipe (and different air intake pipe, which is much shorter). Hoping to get to as close to 400bhp as possible, and steal Prawn's glory
  7. Not updated on here for ages! I do loooooads of stuff to my car, but I've never been much of a "build thread" kinda person...love reading them, but suck at actually making them! Anyway, in my quest for ultimate scene-fag points, I have decided to do an engine bay clean up, and have removed as much as I can, and have hidden wires etc wherever possible. This was partly due to a massively overcrowded engine bay, which I have always hated and wanted to do something about, and the fact my new turbo setup is the mirror image of the original, so lots of stuff needed to be moved. I went from this (well...almost, I didn't have a totally up to date picture, but its basically the same apart from this picture is missing a catch can and heatsheild for the air filter): Part way through, and I had this massive mountain of wires (this is just the passenger side, there was probably another 30-40 wires on the driver side)!: I am now probably 70% of the way through, and am left with this so far (I still need to cut off all the old brackets to neaten it up): Wiring is cut/extended where needs be, and is run through the top chassis rails, and comes out either side by the headlights, out of view (this was the "easy" side, the passenger side probably has 5-6 times as many wires!: Its taking forever, but I am finally now starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Hopefully its worth it in the end! Washer fluid bottle has been relocated to the boot next to the mater/meth injection tank (reduced in size to a 1L instead of 3.5). Coolant expansion bottle has been removed in favour of a typical Jap style expansion cap. Power steering fluid reservoir will now live under the winsdcreen scuttle on the passenger side.
  8. I have the same seats...lovely things. Not much difference between them and the REAL!!! Recaro Pole Positions I had...other than £1200 in your pocket!
  9. I have already followed suit...I'm partway through a TFSI conversion, lol. As I said, it all depends on the budget, and what the existing modifications are. If stage 2 modifications have already been undertaken for a K03 based car, to convert to K04 replaces all those, so its spending money twice. If you don't have any mods at all and have a blank canvas, then it may be more cost effective to go bigger turbo if you can afford it. TFSI isn't a straight forward swap at all, compared to just bolting on a hybrid. There is lots of fabrication work involved, and its a bit of a pain in the arse to be fair, as is doing a "big turbo" swap. So really it depends what you want from the car, and how much work you are willing to put into it...
  10. So where's your evidence to back this statement? What about the turbo that's been on my car and Prawn's (and now onto its 5th owner)...that thing has been abused to high heaven, and is still in perfect condition, Not even a fraction of a millimetre of movement, no blade damage, no cracks in the housing. Get a turbo from a decent supplier, and it will be fine...where you've got this 20k lifetime from I don't know You could argue the bigger turbo will be less stressed, which will cause less heat...but it won't, because 290bhp is still wrangling the balls off a K04. 290bhp is nearly the limit of a K04 turbo, 300+ is the limit of a hybrid...so whats the difference?!
  11. Incorrect. A K03 hybrid will be a FAR better drive than a K04. My friend's stage 2 K03s @ 230bhp was so much more fun to drive day to day than mine @ 300bhp. Much more punchy, like a jack russell compared to a bulldog. Yes it ran out of puff at the top end, but it was amazing mid range. It depends on what mods you currently have on the car as to where you go from here. It will cost about the same in the end to go K03 hybrid or K04 (or even k04 hybrid for a bit more...although then you will need rods). If you get a K300 hybrid from Beach Buggy Turbos, and have a decent flowing setup with wmi, you could be pusing as much as 310-320bhp. In your postition, I would go for the K03 hybrid, having driven 2 cars with similar levels, then K03 hybrid delivers the power in a far more exiciting manner.
  12. To be fair, you haven't even used the tyres you are saying are the best. You might get them and hate them Also, if you are slating PS3's for their wear, NS2'R's are really not the tyres to be getting, lol
  13. I didn't know either of them though, that's the point I was trying to make. Like you say though, I guess it depends on the circles they are in. It sounds like you were in the wrong group. It is pretty cliquey (I remember you experiencing this at Santa Pod one year when I met you, and you were parked up with a big group, but being ignored), and unless you have something special, you tend to get brushed to one side.
  14. Well done J-Rod, I bloody love my NS2-R's!
  15. I love the VAG scene. A guy I have never met sent a £725 turbo setup, even though I had only paid £500 of it (had the rest to pay the next morning once a cheque had cleared). Very trusting! Also, another total stranger to me is sending me a cylinder head for free (other than postage) so I can mock my pipework route while my head is away being refurbished and ported. Love it
  16. I accidentally another turbo. ....whoops.
  17. That's a good idea, but you will probably find you will need to put a flange on one end of the cat to bolt up to the downpipe section, then a piece of pipe flared on the other end to join the rest of the system. There more than likely won't be enough room to fit the cat in the area you have highlighted. If you do it the way I have said, you can then just swap the cat in and out at MOT time.
  18. Today I bought an LSD. Winner. Bring on the traction!
  19. Trying to yeah! The seller/company is pretty slow at replying! I asked a couple of questions about if it was opened up to large port etc. They suggested they could port and refurb my head for £350, so I said I would look into it, but I think my head is now a bit beyond saving! I like the idea of just dropping a new head on though, so will chase them up a bit.
  20. Just burnt or cracked valves or seats I think. Took the head off and poured water into each inlet port, and on cylinder 1 all 3 inlet valves drip like a tap. Cylinder 2 & 3 are ok inlet wise, cylinder 4 has 1 leaky inlet valve. Each cylinder has 1 leaky exhaust valve. Pretty sure that's the answer to my misfire problem, and explains why I had one very sooty spark plug (in cylinder 1) compared to the rest. Refurbing cylinder heads is expensive (looking at £500+ at the very least to get it back on) ...track days are expensive
  21. Soooo...out of the 20 valves in my head, 9 of them are goosed...bugger
  22. Makes sense! I did this on a couple of corners (Esses and the end of Coram), found that was the quickest way through, basically unsettle the car on the way in, then power it through for the way out. I also felt I had a good line for Bombhole (this was where I passed most people). My line through Coram always varied, and I'm not sure which was quickest, lol! I think if I could tie Coram up, and the first corner, I would have a pretty smooth lap. Sear is always a bit difficult to get perfected, I found I screeched a lot, no matter what I did, this is the main place an LSD would help me I think.
