You need to take the axle out.

You just need to take the axle off. For normal axle, insert a 5mm allen key in each axle end, undo the axle end, remove the bearing preload adjuster, pull the axle out, then just pull the freehub out. With the HD axle, you need to undo the pinch bolt on the preload adjuster on the axle, with a 3/32" allen key, unscrew it from the axle, pop axle out and pull the freehub body off. Easy.
