Ashtons are medium long, and they are very popular for a reason.. I'd give one a go, they're quite common now, so should be no probs finding someone with a bike you can try... It's easier to be flowier on a shorter bike as there's less length to chuck around, but most of the flow and smoothness comes in the body motions, and often lack of brake usage. Go on a big ride and try many bikes out, it's the easiest way!

I've sorted it now, kind of. It feels loads better, not 100% like new but I'm happy anyway! I bled the brake with oil, let it sit for an hour, blew out with pump, bled through 3-4 times with water, then I replaced one of the slaves, which was the real troublemaker. My brake now has a silver lever, one silver slave, and one red slave. Looks horrible but feels much better!

Hey, My maggie is being really slow. It feels sluggish, and not nearly as snappy and "easy" like other water maguras. The bleed is often OK, I've tried to lube the pistons up the usual way (tpa all way in, press lever, spray lube) but to no help. When I bled it now the lever wouldn't even return properly, that's how sluggish it is! So what can I do about it? Am I able to pull the pistons completely out, to clean the whole brake out that way? Help!

I hear clear evans g1 are nice for reso side. i use some crap noname resonant heads, fairly tight. i use evans g2 coated heads on the batter side, with a piece of moongel (best damping EVER) fairly close to the rim, just to take the worst off. i like a bit of ring in the toms! I suppose you could go all 80's and remove the reso heads from the toms. I ran mine like that for a while, very interesting sounds..
