but still, it does protect the hdd... imagine being an important businessman with important businesswork on the computer.. you drop it. you want the files back, but you don't care about the screen, just the files. you are an important businessman. i saw a hack somebody did, having virtual desktops and literally slapping the screen to change between them.

Thing is, it's piss easy to change ram/hdd in the macbooks. no real need to upgrade anything else. also, remember you're paying for mac osx. stuff like dashboard and exposé is pure genious, can't live without them now that i've gotten used to them. i do agree you're paying for the name and the white plastic, but many people overlook the fact that osx is so much nicer than windows. also the macbooks have the nicest keyboard i've ever tried...

Teenage Angst Communal Agony Aunt Thread

i pulled a 26 year old on saturday. got her number and everything. i'm 18. i may text her in a bit. -
you can get so much more pc for the money of a mac. it's not the same though, cos you don't need a super duper graphics card to run osx, or most of the software avaliable anyways. also, the macbook is a sweet computer. 13" screen and fairly thin means it's easy to bring to wherever you wanna use it.. charger is nicer than any of the pc ones i've seen too, magnetic connector so you can trip on the cord and not break the charger/computer too.. oh and you can haxx in the unix terminalz. also there is like 1 virus for macs, and no spyware. i only restart my mac when it has updated something that requires rebooting.. stays on for weeks at the time, and never feels sluggish like the pcs ive used before. maybe the newer ones are better, but i doubt it.

sunet (swedish uni network thing).. tenner a month, 100mbit (more like 40-60mbit, but faster on the internal network though), 15gb allowed each day. i use a gig or two every day, some times more, some times less...

i really like my mac. i used PCs for all my life but when i moved out i couldn't take the computer with me, so i had to buy one. i bought a macbook. the screen is not the best ive seen, it does look good, but you can tell that the backlight is not 100% even when you watch movies with very dark night scenes for example. can't say i notice it other times. the mac works really well for me. i do mostly basic stuff like internet/music/msn/films but it works fine with matlab, and ive got final cut pro up and running too. lovely little machine. some things bother me though.. like that you cant cut files in finder (equivalent of windows explorer) so you have to copy and then delete, or drag and drop, which annoys me a little. and the fact that there is no decent cad software out, but if i really want to i can just walk 5 minutes to uni, or remote access a pc from college over the internets with the magic of the unix terminal and x11.</geek>. i bought mine because it looked nice and i had heard good things about macs. and i never play games...

i did "technology" at college.. basically maths, physics, mechanics and stuff. then i started studying mechanical engineering in the autumn last year, enjoying it, but it is a lot of work.. never had any doubts or problems with choosing what to do.

being bored of xc, evolve, internets and mbuk search for a trials star... rode for over a year without even seeing another rider in the flesh.

i have got sigs turned off, they are annyoing. i am on 100/100mbit line for a tenner a month. i am capped at 15gb of transfers a day, i get to keep quota that i don't use, up to 60gb totally. pretty sweet..

so jealous of peter.. bitch gets a nice mid term of riding, while im stuck in sveeden with no money or time. nice vid though.

lots of people here use back protectors for comps. my mum made me wear one for comps, but i didn't like it at all. it was a ufo one, got at an mx shop. i am sure ive seen peter bäckgren use his indoors, and he seems to get along fine, and it is definitely doable.

the only good thing about monty shoes is the sole. and they're also glued onto Ribo shoes, which are a thousand times more comfortable to wear. i could never walk properly in monty shoes, it was very uncomfortable. the ribo shoe is a nicer fit and much nicer to walk in. also, i think the sole is a bit thicker on the ribo, flexible but not so thin that your foot hurts, like my feet did with monty shoes... i am on about the red/black/gray ones, which were just like the clown-theme shoes but different colours.

i want to, but i dont know if i have the time or money. i will do my best, seeing as it's back on the right location again, and last time was a great time.

you kids are up to some crazy shit.. i ran over a car once, when i was out of my face. it's about the worst thing ive ever done i think. i am such a good boy. -
haha, i remember the discussion on OTN when that was brought up a few years back.
-
i use amsn... it is the only one that does full speed file transfer, though it crashes pretty often for me. adium looks nicest, and if it had file transfers working well, it would rock.

nearly all small pc speakers connect with a 3.5mm plug that goes in the headphone jack on the computer. so it's always easy to disconnect the computer from the speakers, just pull the plug. there are millions of speakers on the market, go to a shop like pc world and have a look.....

maybe it's time to thank our friend global warming for the low temperatures and the snow? and now i understand about the scools better. can imagine kids going crazy about it if it never comes, we have like 3 months every year of it, so a huge part of the novelty of it has worn off, as you can imagine. last winter someone made a 7ft snow cock outside a mate's house.
