  1. fixie without spd/toe clips is dangerous. imagine if the foot comes off the pedal at speed, it will get mashed by the crank and pedal.
  2. Try and get adam@tarty to have a look. He knows his way round a King hub pretty well... Kings are temperamental, if not kept nice and tight they start skipping and being shit.
  3. i am pretty sure it does, yeah.
  4. i am blind and stupid. sorry for my ignorance, will check the other thread. mods know what to do...
  5. I have taken one pedal apart in my entire life. I have a set of v8s that i haven't touched since i bought them, which was a year or two ago. I figure they need greasing and tightening, so how do i do it without failing? </noob topic>
  6. was thinking of this subject the other day. Watched MacGyver.. If they remade it, the show would be super hightech with lasers and shit. But back then it was all simple, some basic physics and some modifications of the laws of physics.. he didn't even have a cell phone. luckily i don't own a TV and i spend all my time around music, which will never become boring.
  7. Removing the non driveside bearing is kinda tricky though. And for the record, my hub has been fine since I did the full ghetto service. Skipped maybe twice... But don't do it! I have mad King skills.
  8. Another mech. engineering student here. Finished my first year in may, and it's been brilliant. I don't think I rode anything between august and december. Had a handful of rides in the winter, and maybe 10 rides before june? I've been way too busy studying/being drunk to ride, which is something I need to work on. I think I'll cut my studying time down for riding time. If you make time for trials you can ride as much as you want. It's a good idea to study harder/more efficiently during the week so you can ride/relax during the weekends, instead of being a giant slacker and having to do all the work when it's sunny, like I did. Oh and I keep my bike in my 1 room apartment. If it's dirty it goes in the shower.
  9. to uni: i live on campus so it's about one song (3-4 min) to get to the actual room or whatever I'm supposed to be in. to work: 4 miles, takes around 15-20 minutes on bike depending on how hard i push it.
  10. yeah. i have posted my ghettotastic king service pics on the forum about 10 times. they involve a hammer, a screwdriver, a socket and some force. It's not good for the hub, you might break the bearing or even deform the shell. The least damage you'll do is just denting the spring retainer (which is fine). i attatched the pictars. i take no responsibility for you or your hub, PLEASE don't do this unless you REALLY have to. I did it because my hub was skiptastic due to f**ked drive/driven rings. and as with anything round being pressed in, be methodic, gentle and be sure it goes in straight, or you'll ruin the hub.
  11. word. variety is king, even though i am a tgs whore.

    Live Earth

just watched some live earth vids on youchoob. - razorlight were sloppy, johnny looked even more silly than usual. - rhcp were alright, chad overplayed everything though. - taking back sunday were ok, adam could not sing properly. - bloc party sounded like they were struggling for some reason. - afi were boring.

    Pad Reviews

yet another set of cousts wth alu backings. used on a grind put on in december, so it's pretty old but sparingly used so its not too bad. took about 10 minutes before brake worked really well, now it's like always, loud and grabby, hold could have been a little bit better but i don't mind. should be even better when i put a new grind on.
  17. of course. audio quality is supposed to be worse on an ipod compared to the creatives/irivers too.
  18. that's way off. the freewheel screws on the same on hubs and cranks, it's right hand thread. anything else would be retarded. the lock ring however, may screw on either left or right hand, depending on the freewheel. doesn't matter that much, keep it tight and threadlocked and it'll be fine either way. I used normal ACS freewheels for ages on the crank, just needed tightening every few rides.
  19. itunes is hit or miss with a pc. for me, it worked flawlessly but for some people it never works. heard that some creative players won't work with macs, like the new stone. dunno if it is true or not. as i am a mac whore now i'd like it to work.
  20. the zen is about 100 times thicker than the ipod, looks like some kind of cheap tacky toy, and the buttons/touch thing is useless compared to the wheel.' plus, itunes is great.
  21. you can't get the macbook screen higher than 1280x800.. you can always turn the brightness to zero on the mb screen, and i have heard you can wake the mb up from sleep with the remote for example. not tried it on my own but always worth a go.
  22. get a rack tom and get a new bottom rim and some kind of snare mechanism? you could go crazy with something like an 80's sonor phonic 13x13" or something silly.
