Ive been driving just over a year now and have just gotten my 3rd car. Its is by far the best car ive had and has cost me a alot of money for it, and the insurance. Its MUCH faster than my other cars and it surprised me alot when I first drove it. I can tell you now, I rag it much less with a faster car. But it is great to really blitz it sometimes. I dont have a problem wih speeding, and a day doesnt pass when I dont do 50 in a 30. I dont see anything wrong with it. I dont mean down peoples streets, but main roads which are 30 are just stupid. I wont overtake on these kind of roads just so I can do 50, but if Im at the front of the pack I will. Its a very touch and go thing speeding. Some people are more dangerous even though they stick to the limits! Its a very individual thing imo

Make sure you do something to tire you before bed, I hate not being able to sleep

Nick Im quite intrested in this whole airstrip/track day thing for when I get my new car. If I were to go to a track day it would probably have to be a technical track to exploit my car to the max. Ie. its not the fastest car top end but will be alot of fun lower down. What sort of days can you attend? What license's do you need? Helmet? Etc etc. Im excited lol

Elephant was my best, and Ian, seeing as you live close it would be worth trying them. Im at £1400 TPFT on a fiesta zetec s

While were on about techniques, does anyone use engine braking more than foot braking? Ive basically been told this does no harm what so ever, as long as you dont whack it in 2nd doing 90mph. Nick?

Gearbo syncros take a hell of a beating, especially if a woman has been driving the car (Y) And to confirm what prawn said, the legenday syncro on my escorts 3rd gear is a load of shit, therefore i blip

Same position as Mark really. Finished A levels and couldnt wait to leave. Ive ot myself a place at British Aerospace as an apprentice for september which is classed as one of the best in the country. I really cannot wait to start. This is something which I feel will intrest me and has great prospects. I wouldnt even consider going to UNI now unless it was just for socialising

That makes me laugh......... Every quote I do I put in less than 5000 miles per year Put the value of my car as £600 Tried over 30 insurers online in the last 2 weeks. Confused was crap, best they got me was from Admiral for £2200 Try your details, exactly the same, but put the postcode as L215JU, house no.5 See what that gets you........ Should be intresting

I know! Its bloody good!!! lol I WISH!!!!!! Just renewed my insurance, 1 year driving but no no-claims and mine is £1145 TPFT on a 1.4 N reg Escort. No where near as quick as yours. 0-60 in like 17 secs lol

Where the hell do you live?!

Que automatic "scooter" response:- Get a road friendly bike. Ie a road bike or bmx. Save the money and get a good car If you think im talking crap, your wrong and will regret it (Y)

You dont miss power steering if you havent had a car with it already Eeven if you have lessons in a car with power steering, you dont properly get used to it. And will only take a day driving a car without to forget about it. Plus the polo isnt really a heavy handling car
-
Get some good pics up! VWs are great cars and WILL last forever. Not to sure bout stripped out and exhaust though as this seems a bit over the top but If you wanna do it, go for it. Isnt it REALLY loud though? Most track day cars have so much engine/exhaust noise it would be unbearable for eeryday use? I can see you putting them back in very soon........well as soon as you drive on the motorway for more than 2 mins lol I get my new un at the end of the week, cant wait! Does it put the power down properly? I mean they dont have the best tires etc as standard do they!

Get some sense about you and change the keyboard back from the American crap that its set on

Think Ive settled it down to a Fiesta Zetec-S Tis an awful lot of car for the money. 1.6 Zetec Puma gear box 0-60 in 10.2 secs Good looks Apparently very fun to drive, nippy and good handling

Nick, nick, nick!!! You dont think I wouldnt love a A3!!!! lol ESPECIALLY a 1.9TDI one!!! Ive been getting insurance quotes of 3/4/9!!!k for 1.6 focus' TPFT. I cant check insurance for a A3 now as its too late but the best I got for a 1.6 focus was £1440 tpft. I really dont think I should have tpft with a A3.........Its like a crime! Its the L postcode. They just laugh at you. Only had 2 quotes under 2k both tpft. Ill check insurance in the morning and see what it says but I live in hope of someone saying "ooo yes have fully comp on your enzo for £100"

The ginger shit. Hes still 12 aswell, or has been round that age for the last 4 years lol

You only have to look at the likes of James Porter to see that long low frames give a better ride. He went from a Curtis to a echo pure. And although he was good on his curtis, his riding exploded, well imo, when e got his pure. He can still throw it about a bit aswell. So I say long and low

i think the recommended is actually 40hours................ I put in for mine after 15 ish lessons, but it was about 25 lessons by time i passed 3rd time, robbing bastards. I did 3 point turns 2nd lesson, so it swings and roundabouts. Get AS MUCH driving in as you physically can. Experience is the key And when you pass, the real learnign begins :)

If we remove that word, would your statement still apply??? Dont really want a estate!!! But focus is still my fave at the mo
-
Lol Tarty, the 1.4 focus was the same as the 1.4 escort........shite lol. Nobody really bought them due to their pooeyness. 5.5K is a bit too much really for me, as I am gonna be bummed 1.5k on insurance aswel......... Just been for a drive then and the 307 is an ugly car lol. Well compared to a focus anyways lol.
-
Yeah the only reason I want leather etc is cos, well I want it lol. If im gonna be driving it everyday for AT LEAST 2 hours, i might aswell make it comfortable as possible! And anal, I want something that I WANT!!! lol Dont want an estate either :- Which HDI 307 is it with 110bhp? What size engine? So what do poeple think then? Petrol 1.6ish? Turbo diesel 1.8/9ish??? Defo dont want a standard diesel cos theyre slooooooooooooooooooooooooow

Right, in september I will start doing quite a few motorway miles. As a result of that (and also it being crap :- ) the escorts gotta go for something newer, nicer, more reliable and more economical. Heres the stuff I need/want Nice car for one At least a 1.6 petty or a TDI would be nice, but not a ford TDI (and cant afford a TDCI) Alloys Bit of funness inside, Air con etc would be nice, ford Ghias come with leather.... Must like motorway miles. Ie. cant be drinking the juice while doing 70/80mph I was looking at a Focus Ghia. Very nice cars to look at, drive, well built and have alot for your money. Wanted a diesel really but have been advised that the older TDIs are poo and the newer TDCI, whist AMAZING are outta my price range at the mo. So I was advised the next best thing in focus form is the 1.6. Any coments on this??? What cars can peole comment on? My price range is between about 4 and 5k. Bear in mind this is big investment for me Thanks
