petrol mat i think its only on more modern cars (that have oxygen sensors) i know my golf (1989) does'nt have one but my seat (1999) has, have you looked into changing the sensor yourself steve, i bet it would only be a days work, and would save you a fair bit of money. EDIT: its only a matter of screwing one out and plugging back in, must be more than just replacing the sensor for it to cost £300

you have a skoda dont you matt?. you can he get some pads online from www.gsfcarparts.com or go to the nearest branch, there pretty good a gsf, iv got loads of stuff from there, and thery sell at trade price i do belive (or very close to it on most parts) seeing as though your changing your pads, yo might want to check the disc condition, as it might be worth geting new discs aswell

please don’t use caustic soda for getting paint off, if you mix it too strong it will eat into your frame and weaken it!!, im talking from experience, i put some onza vp pedal cages into caustic soda to see if it would take the paint off, it did take patches of paint off, but it then got under the paint and corroded the aluminium , they are now about 1mm thick!!, super light lol, just use nitromorse (i think the green can is slightly better than the yellow, the yellow is for household paints like emulsion ect) and either some wire wool, or other abrasives
