Hey, thanks to everyone whos posted pictures. Still looking for photos of snapped mech hangers on frames though!

Im ok at using solidworks to design the odd part and two but when it comes to tubing I dont have a clue... Im not sure how to interact tubes with eachother etc.. Any chance someone could give me a quick lesson on making a simple bike frame?? I know about the bikeCAD on bikeforest but I want to try and use solidworks. Thanks, Dave

Hey, just doing some research for my custom frame peoject and have found many frame builders buy in and use Lugs for attaching tubes together. Just wondering if anyone who has made a frame before used lugs? If not, what did you do instead? Thanks, Dave

Try and start with your back wheel closer to the wall/pallets. This will make you more parallel with the wall and will help. Make sure you go straight up and then to the side.

Thanks for the replies. For your bass quitar how are you showing the design problem? I have to use photos/sketches to show what the problem is so I am wondering how I can show the problem of the lack of frames with geometry which is specific to me?? (if that makes sense) Thanks Dave

Hey, basically I really want to make a frame for my A2 DT project. I am confident in working with metals/brazing and I think I have the commitment and time required. The only thing holding me back is that I have to think of a design problem with current frames and solve it...The only thing I can really think of for trials frames is wheels slipping but this has already been solved with the creation of 360 dropouts. I am looking for other ideas of things I could do. I think I can just say there is not a frame that fits the client perfectly so I am going to make one with geo for them but I will have to check this. Has anyone else made a frame for their A2 DT project? Any help? Thanks Dave EDIT: Im now thinking it doesnt have to be a trials frame, could also be a 26" street frame.

I seem to remember ages ago a few people coming up with crazy ideas of putting the rear mech above the chainstay so you dont bash it while riding. I think someone said there would be a problem with shifting as more chain would be wrapped around the cassette?? Basically im looknig for more info on it as I am planning on designing a street frame for my A2 DT cwk but I need to solve a problem which currently exists with frames. (I am thinking about the problem of bending mech hangers) Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks Dave

Try using the macro function on your camera (flower symbol) to get the photo's more in focus
