No, it just kind of dripped off it. It's quite difficult to short something out. Most things are "splash proof"

I think they all look lovely.

I loved that, I'll be watching that again. I really liked your front wheel gap to manual. You look so smooth and controlled on that bike. Might have to slow this down and analyse your front wheel technique a little
-
Are you coming on to me?
-
Certainly was Sneaker Pimps. Quite into IAMX at the moment too - so if you like SP, give them a listen, it's the same singer. http://www.spodesabode.com/discussion/66/i-am-x-iamx

Yeah, new frame, cranks, hub, 74 kingz, bits and bobs. It's basically identical to my other bike now. Those hooks were really hard because the run-up is tricky - I have to carve into it and it really puts off my pedal strokes. Not to mention I kept hitting it at an angle - muchos dangerous in the snow! Still if I can get it in those conditions, then they should be even easier in the dry

Discs love the cold weather. They were a little squeeky mind you, you have to rub them a little to get the surface water off. Surfaces were nasty - I had a couple of close ones! I'm working a lot at the moment, but I'm sure I'll see you soon!

I don't mind the cold, rain or snow. It's the wind I don't like!

Thanks guys. I didn't let the train situation get to me. I hadn't ridden all week and I was so looking forward to it! I'm looking back at it now and see some extra variations I should/could have added in. But that spot is deadly in this sort of weather. Hit it at a slight angle from a spin and it just slides out from underneath you. I don't think I mentioned this, but I edited it using the Open Source "Kino" which comes with Ubuntu. http://www.spodesabode.com/discussion/127/...s-video-editor/ LOL. Oddly, I keep saying the same thing about you

Well, I don't know about you - but I got screwed over by the trains today and couldn't go on the London ride. So I got my trusty tripod out (not that one) and filmed some of the local lines in Tonbridge. Wet, cold, snowy. Perfect weather for lock on grips, ribo shoes and dual discs http://www.thinkbikes.com/video/thinkbikessnow

When am I being invited round to "play"

CHAI KNEES! Yeah, I get a little crazy. More annoying that anything. That's why I don't drink much anymore!

London On Ze 6th Of April! Sunday
spode@thinkbikes replied to Simpson's topic in Member Organised Rides
I want to But the trains are shagged. Train to Sevenoaks and then a replacement bus service -
It's not creepy, it's just using a search engine If you search for "Index of" and then an artist you want, you can often find entire MP3 albums in the web listings of people's sites that have been indexed.

Awesome I've always wondered why people with 20" ride them like pogo sticks, yet considering they are the closest approximation to a BMX, THEY should be the ones doing the funky jazz That my friend, is how a 20" should be ridden. Danny - we saw him sidehop a good couple of times. That's good enough for most people
-
Even better than when I had it I see you kept the stickers on

I have two, so one picture of each

I used to KILL the disc mounts on those things. So be careful with those - keep an eye out for cracks. I pulled the rear end off a couple of them. This made a big difference, but eventually the disc tabs came off. I then had the whole tab section re-welded and it was lovely. Sprayed it up blue too. Although I then stripped the BB thread and gave up on it...

I know from my time in Cisco, there are plenty of spots to ride, and masses of concrete - so that's not the issue. But in the UK, people living out in the sticks often given up because there isn't anyone to go riding with. In the US - I imagine it's even worse. Generally, a rider has at least one other rider to go riding with, so that they stay in the sport. Maybe that's the issue in the US - population density. Once enough people are into the sport, it'll hit critical mass and kick off. So I guess it needs some promotion to get people interested

"mod Is Cheating"? Discuss...
spode@thinkbikes replied to Aziraphael's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
I wouldn't call it cheating, but I have to admit I've never thought particularly highly of Mods. Unless you're young or very small, I just think grown up bikes are the way forward For me, my roots are in mountain bikes, and I started riding mountain bike trials, not trials. Stock seems to open up a lot more doors in terms of technique and flow. Every Mod I jump on, I feel like I'm on a pogo stick! -
Standing at London Bridge station, I have to really control myself. I really want to side hop up to the platform from the rails. There is also a section where there are these 1ft across platforms, two of them, that would be sooo nice for a front wheel gap.

A List Of Reputable Trials Related Shops And Products...

The banner ads on the top-right of your screen are a useful helping hand. As I'm sponsored by Tarty Bikes (www.tartybikes.co.uk) - I'm naturally going to push you in their direction, but frankly most people will - great range, prices and service. But as someone who has been riding nearly 10 years, I fully understand your worry. I took a sabbatical for university, suddenly discovered trials-forum and found this whole "new" world of trials. The transition was weird - lots of new techniques and a better selection of components, and being branded as "old school". I wouldn't worry so much about what is old/new school. If you're getting back into trials, it doesn't matter what you're using as long as you have a working bike. Frames have gotten smaller and generally longer, with bottom bracket rise (which feels very strange at first). If you're looking for something that feels more like the bikes you used to tide - consider going 24" as these are about the length of say an Orange Zero Rowan Johns was still running Kool Stops with a smooth rim until recently, so you can still use them, but there are 101 different companies offering brake pads. All of them vary depending on if you're running a harsh/light grind or tar. My personal opinion is anything you have to go to that much length to get working isn't a good braking system - which is why I run dual discs However, give the guys at Tarty a ring and they will be full of good advice on what to run. Advice is free - bits aren't -
London This Sunday 9th Of March?
spode@thinkbikes replied to Simpson's topic in Member Organised Rides
That white mark is where my disc hit I thought, I know, lets do a rolling gap to two wheels and get my wheel stuck in the gap Gave it a few tugs with my hands and everything was fine. Doesn't need replacing -

From what you said, not only did you feel the urge, you went ahead and did it! I feel a bit rough this morning - might be coming down with a man flu.
