  1. Who wants to read about a ride 3 weeks after it happened? A lot of the people on here can't write properly. Even professional writers have sub-editors. Running/starting a magazine is a lot of work and needs a lot of dedicated people. Writing content is actually the easiest aspect of it. Maybe the trials-forum approach is best.
  2. Why are you doing this in print? Magazine sales have dropped immensely over the past 5 years - by as much as 75% on some of the magazines I've worked for. If you did it as a website, you could trickle feed articles as and when. Coming up with fresh content for each issue in a scene such as trials, would be very hard. It's also a lot less work - doing layout for magazines is very time consuming. Doing it for a website is usually as simple as a word processor Something to think about. You'll get a wider audience on the web, and some Google Ads would probably pay for itself.
  3. Captured the day nicely And as usual, Tall_Rob was on his knees in public.
  4. What's wrong with a direct link? He's just showing you where to get his bike... Looks good Chai - glad to see you've gone dual disc. Your old rear brake had zero hold! I look forward to our next ride
  5. I'm 24, Dave is 28/29 I think. Start now and you'll stave off old-age!
  6. It's easy to blame the bike for this, but It's partly a technique thing. It means you've got more momentum in your hips than in your arms. You need to throw more with your arms, or less with your hips - whichever way you look at it Covering them with some sort of sponge would help, but if they are bruised - let the bruising heal. It's not good to keep bruising a bruise. It can damage the tissue.
  7. Hope you have a good one Adam. I took an executive decision and threw your pasta away
  8. I just assumed you liked to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQoJo81lujk? What can I say, I was wrong
  9. Have fun out there. This is not the end, this is only the beginning!
  10. Well, I'm thinking train. Rob is wondering about Car.
  11. Well, that says enough really. Me, Tall_Rob & Bessell confirmed so far. Who else is in?
  12. I'm not particularly big on awards... but I will take part in the factual ones. Surely Tall_Rob must be in the runnings for tallest at 6ft 6? And if not, why not?
  13. The point is, to get the most height on the front, you do push into the ground first for pre-load. Ash is merely saying it's possible, not recommended, to do without. He's right - you can just lean back and pretty much pull into a manual and hop straight away. It would look slower than most bunny hops - laboured if you will. I think that's the point Ash is trying to make - it could be done. It's academic, and somewhat misleading to the thread. So it's not so much wrong that you're springing off the forks, because the action is correct, but if you were putting any effort into it, you'd be getting more height on the front than that. You are currently relying on the spring to get you up a little. Nothing to be ashamed about, just something to consider next time you're trying. You need to work on shifting your weight back and forth.
  14. That's nasty.. I find the wait in A&E not worth the time. I've got a scalpel, I can cut away the dead skin. I've got pain killers if I need them, and you can always tape the wound instead of stitching it.
  15. I had one almost identical to that and they refused to give me stitches. They told me the skin on the shin is so tight that putting stitches on would just pull straight out. You must have really fat shins My shins are a mess. You really do just get used to it. And the top picture? You think that's bad? You WILL get worse. I'll do something like that and will say nothing more about it. If I don't have scabs on my legs, I haven't been riding enough
  16. Well mine was better. Because it was mine
  17. Which is the video where he "dents it in, with his ass!"? But I agree, it was a LOT harder back then, not only in terms of bikes (I used a 16" Univega Alpina 530 XC bike..) but also in terms of learning material.
