Heh. never noticed that. I think they are supposed to be pectorals - like a reeeeal man.

I haven't touched it since I wrote an article on it: http://www.trustedreviews.com/gaming/revie.../Second-Life/p1 Has nakedness in it! I had some awesome screen shots of me humping a girl while still on my BMX. I wonder if I can find them.

Well, aside from the fact installing OS X on it would be illegal, apparently it runs like a dog. The Linux install on it is very good. FireFox, ThunderBird, OpenOffice, Amarok Music Player, Mplayer. What more do you need for day to day use? The extra storage is useful if you want lots of music and videos on it. But you could always buy a 4GB SD Card, which is plenty of extra room. I love my EeePc - it's awesome. I've started taking it with me when Rob and I go pallet riding and use it to play music, the speakers are deceptively powerful.

On the topic of Hoodies - has anyone picked up my thinkbikes.com/streefurnituretrials.com hoody?? I think I must have left it someone's bag at a ride - been missing for months. -
I'll mail a few people tonight. Maybe Sam Wheeler can make it...

Awesome I did text Phil King about this, but I didn't know the day at the time. Bring on the pheasant!

We've all to do something

Since I've slowed down my writing for magazines in favour of coding and thinkbikes.com, thought I'd convert my old technology reviews site into a blog. http://www.spodesabode.com Clean, maybe bland, but exactly what I wanted. The forum software is very swish. Being able to block an entire forum category in the "view new posts" is a god send that I wish this forum had If you want to know more about the site, read the first blog post.

True, it's not traditional to prepend a zero, but it's still a valid number FP knows I don't mean it, I'm trying to draw attention away from the fact he still hasn't had his full body massage from Darren "Lee" Hill. -

Tendonitis is an inflammation of the tendon - usually from overuse. So it kind of makes sense to rest it and take some ibuprofen, so the swelling can go down. But you'll usually find that unless you've torn it, a couple of days is enough rest. I suffer from this a lot. They inflame because I'm putting a lot of force through them - it's eventually going to cause upset! However, the one bit of useful advice I can give, is I find moving the levers in, so that the biting point is a lot closer to the handle bars. This puts a lot less strain on my fingers. The more my fingers hurt, the less power I have to pull the levers - hence using disc brakes. I physically can't make a rim brake lock! I get pain through all the joints and fingers - possibly made worse by doing a lot of typing However, as a few people have suggested - if you're actually worried about it - go to a doctor rather than taking advise online. But a GP will have very little training in this area. He will probably feel your fingers and check for anything funny, then tell you to go home and rest and take ibuprofen. If you ham it up a little, he might do an ESR blood test to see if it's something else, like rheumatoid arthritis. The other piece of good advise seen above, is to see a physio. If you go to your GP, he can refer you to a physio and it won't cost you a thing. Alternatively, have a chat to Si Physio on the forums - who I highly recommend

Swish Phil, swish.

A fixed size Swap File will perform better than a dynamically expanding one too. I would: - turn the swap file OFF. - restart into safe mode. - defrag the computer. - boot up normally, turn swap file back on to a fixed amount. Probably 1GB. Or, if you're not fussed - that error is nothing to worry about, and you can just carry on as normal. But yeah, it's a sign that you could probably do with a little more RAM, or that something you've got running is chewing it all up!

I think it's a sound idea. Personally, I can get the same nostalgic feel by visiting locations that I used to ride, that I don't anymore. I sometimes think back to my Orange Zero, and how I could do things back then I can't do now. But then I remember that there's things I can do now that I couldn't do then. As one thing improves, other things are likely to get worse. It's very easy to get stuck in the past, and the grass will always be greener on the other side. Instead, I've tried to embrace the new school geometries and work with them instead of against them. Change isn't always a bad thing.

Yeah, the easiest way to achieve what he wants would be to have a fixed width, rather than dynamic. If he posted up a URL, I'd take a closer look, but nothing is sprining to mind as I don't generally advocate background images But in this case Javascript would be a bodge. Ideally, sites should function without the need for Javascript. Javascript should only add to the page. So needing Javascript just to get the layout right kinds of fits in that category..
-
A little bit of Javascript would fix that, but it's an ugly solution really.

I haven't read the entire thread - so don't shoot me if anyone has suggested this. But try turning Aero Glass off. Vista has trouble coping with Overlays when Aero Glass is turned on.

Can Be Closed Unless People Find This Useful
spode@thinkbikes replied to Barbara Logan-Price's topic in Chit Chat
On Windows, I use AVG. I've never had an issue - but then I'm not sure I've ever had any infections to deal with as I'm pretty careful with what I download etc. I'm on Linux now, so Viruses, do your worst! -
Who's Matt Black?
-
Good topic.
-
Well. The person who won the bid, might have backed out or been a scammer. So he relisted it. Or, he used a second eBay account to artificially raise the price of the bike, and went too far (i.e, he won the auction himself). Either way - why not ask him?
-
Well, just going by the eBay listing, it suggests he knows what he's doing. Pictures of the bits people want to see, and a decent spec listing. So to say he doesn't know much about the bike is contradictory.... Certainly worth flagging up if someone has had something stolen in that area - but it doesn't SCREAM stolen.

Don't bother trying to get it privately repaired. Small stuff is repairable by hand - but yours sounds like a large fault. All that stuff going run generally means the motherboard is screwed. Which is an expensive and fiddly repair. Your 2 year warranty is there for a reason. Shipping it won't cost too much either. Generally, if you pay for shipping TO them (use something like parcel2go.com) they pay for shipping it back to you.

Caustic Soda is pretty powerful. Rob and I made the mistake of adding boiling water rather then cold water (against my advice ). It almost exploded!
