  1. Sorry lads, I think Simpson changed his mind at the last minute. My number is on thinkbikes.com, and I didn't get any missed calls... Best part of the day for me - eating this carrot, and hooking that wall
  2. That's half the challenege. If you're technique is right, it shouldn't be an issue Some of my best rides have been in the rain.
  3. I spoke to Adam today. Wet weather riding is awesome Especially with dual discs
  4. Going to London. Happy to chaperon.
  5. Well, my number is on thinkbikes.com. Going for a quick ride in the industrial estate now actually
  6. Go for it. Nothing wrong with two rides. Sounds like the less amount of people go to Victoria, the less chance we have of trouble too Adam and I ride the sloped walls A LOT.
  7. If things looks bad, grab your bags, scream "CHEESE IT!" and never come back.
  8. I'm afraid I'm heading into Nodnol to ride Victoria park
  9. Most of those long posts were poorly written, poorly structured and could have been summarised in a few short points. "Waffle" is the keyword I'm afraid. If it isn't read, you may as well not have written it. So the hugely complex lengthy posts fell on deaf ears as most people looked at them and scrolled straight down. I don't hate whomever it was that rode in that video - In fact, I would say he probably hadn't even thought it through and made a decision to ride on a grave. He instinctively saw a good line and went for it. In hind sight, he probably knows what he did was erring on the side of wrongness, but he isn't man enough to admit his mistake. Instead his response of not caring (etc.) did very little for his reputation.
  10. Tonbridge has lots of spots. Come for a ride with Rob and I and we'll show you around. Scopse is from Hastings. There are quite a few in the surrounding areas. But I find it easier to take the train to London and ride there than go to most of the places in Kent nowadays. Herne Bay, Hastings, Folkestone, Tenterden, Maidstone are all good. There are plenty of riders around And I'm 24! I'm not old yet.
  11. Any quantification of "savage"? Under what law too Either way, we should probably keep numbers and noise to a minimum.
  12. 11 at Liverpool St would work for me. Takes me 45 minutes to Waterloo, and then I have to ride to Liverpool St.
  13. Well, you say that, but a lot of people here don't really have a lot of knowledge of their anatomy or how it works, and the attitude of "riding throught it" doesn't help either. Deciding not to go the doctor because you don't think it is serious enough is entirely different to trusting someone elses opinion on what is wrong with you, based on limited knowledge of the situation.
  14. I'm joining Ads for Victoria park on Sunday, and brining along Rich (new rider). Ridden Central waay too much and never ridden Victoria. Time for a change
  15. You could argue your post was very similar to mind too. What matters is we all felt the same way. I have to admit, I found myself looking up "solipsistic". I'm sure a simpler word could have been used, but that will come in handy next time I play scrabble
  16. I think you're going a little too deep here and in doing so, have evaded the real issues. Sentimental attachment to objects is human nature. Although these logically solve no purpose, if it helps keep someone mentally stable, where's the harm? We are unfortunately complex beasts, where logic rarely takes precedence. Part of respect, is learning to respect other peoples opinions, feelings and property. Most other people do attach significance to a grave/gravestone and it is not our place to tell people how they should feel, and we should respect that it is not property of our own. The same goes for riding on people's cars or gardens. Riding on a public wall is generally a victimless crime and damage is at a minimum, and easily repairable due to the uniquelessness (yes I made that word up) or the brick/cement used. I'm sure if I was on the other side of the argument I could argue as strongly in the other direction - i guess that's empathy for you
  17. Exactly. Riding/walking/dancing on somebodys grave (i.e where they are buried) is fine in my book But potentially damaging a grave stone that is designed to last many hundreds of years, and the only thing left on the planet to remind people that they existed, is just wrong. Besides, those things are bloody expensive!
  18. I often look at graveyards and think "wow, look at the lines", but you have to draw the line somewhere. It's bad enough that what we do is on public property....

    .,

Sponge, any chance of a copy of my Hook clip? I wouldn't mind it with the run-up too so I can study my technique and improve it
  20. I can't believe how many posts this thread has had, when realistically, you should be either: a) Resting Going to see your GP.

  22. LOL. Yes, I see that now - my sort of humour that However, I was taking my context from the previous posts - suggesting it was a fake
  23. So who's at fault? The liar? Or the gullible Journalist? I reckon he had a mobile phone in his pocket and he was using a cheap battery that blew up.
  24. The friction from riding an XC bike to work wore holes in my trousers Rub your hands together fast and that gets bloody hot. Is it really impossible to imagine?
