  1. Mine never came with the standard pads as I bought them used so I'm unsure which ones are actually supposed to come with them? Is it the 8.P (Performance) pads? And do you use the 2x larger pads or the 4x smaller pads in each caliper?
  2. lol, what pads do you use then because I'm going to have to swap mine for something else?
  3. Ok so I'd say these are almost bedded in but I have one question, how on earth do you guys manage to modulate these brakes for stopped and manuals etc?! They are insanely powerful and pretty much on/off lol MT7's with Magura Storm HC rotors with Jitsie pads on the rear and Trialtech pads on the front.
  4. That was a fun one to do down big long hills.
  5. I thought that might be the case, I've not ridden trials for about 15 years and when I did I always had my gearing just a tad lower than what my current bike has so it all just feels a bit light to me. I'll kind of stick with it but for the sake of a low cost I will try a 15t as well just to see. And yeah I thought about taking a link out already with the 16T so would probably definitely need to take one out with a 15T.
  6. Mine has 22T front and 16T rear which I believe is standard and it seems just that little bit too high a gear for me, if I roll up to something at walking pace there is not enough gearing for me to kick it up something using the drivetrain, there's only so high I can hop without using the pedals. I find myself having to go very slow and do a full 360° pedal to get up even the smallest obstacles. I haven't taken the sprocket off this bike yet so I'm unsure what sprocket I need for the Hope Pro 4 hub and the KMC chain? Would going down to a 15T on the rear make enough difference? (A bit subjective I know) What tool do I need for removing the sprocket? Would I have to take a link out of the chain to tighten up the chain tensioner? Can I split this chain with a regular chain tool?
  7. New rotors and pads installed, will bed them in tomorrow morning but already they feel better.

    Injury Advice

Any specific help for exercise to prevent tennis elbow? I've had it twice in the past from moto trials riding and each time it took just over 12 months to stop hurting, was unusable and agony at its peak :-( Had to give up the moto trials because of it, hoping mtb trials won't make it flare up again but could do with some preventative measures. Also I'm pretty sure I have shoulder impingement in one shoulder which is also very painful when it flares up, so any advice around that would also be very helpful.
  9. How long should it take to bed in the new pads and rotors?
  10. Yeah I'll do that actually before fitting the new rotors and pads, nice one. I did wonder why the front hose wasn't routed through the steerer so I did that too.
  11. Well I now have 2x Storm HC rotors on the way, 1 set of Jitsie pads and 1 set of Trialtech pads as that's all I could find in stock anywhere. Hopefully I shouldn't have a problem once those are fitted and bedded in.
  12. The previous owner may well have added the Magura's as these look like Hope discs to me? I may well just put a full set of Trialtech pads and Magura Storm HC rotors on it then all at the same time to avoid any contamination. I'll try some water first though this afternoon.
  13. After playing about on the bike some more the rear brake definitely isn't up to scratch and the front still isn't right either. Calipers are pretty even over the rotors and there is no rotor flex when the brakes are applied. Already have a set of pads on the way for the rear so I'll see if I can find another set for the front. And if that still doesn't work then I'll get some rotors ordered as well.
  14. Thanks, I actually just robbed the grub screws out of my pedlas on my MTB and it's already much better. I'll get some ordered anyway because I'll still need some obviously.
  15. Just noticed my pedals have cap screws in, they're not standard right? Should they have grub screws in for maximum shin damage? Slipped off the pedal once already today and caught my shin, wondering if these shiny cap screws are causing a loss of grip?
  16. Just started again myself, haven't ridden trials for about 20 years! I'm a young 39 now so figure I still have some trials years left in me. I also completely suck now, used to have no problem bouncing around on all manor of things and could manual until I ran out of momentum, not any more! It doesn't help that bike geometry has changed so much in the last 20 years. Like you I've been playing in my garden so hopefully it'll slowly come back to me.
  17. I haven't ridden trials since around 2001, this Fourplay is a far Cry from the old modified jump bikes I used to ride with, very twitchy and wants to throw me over the bars all the time (steeper head tube angle than I'm used to). I need to put some hours in in my garden to at least get comfortable on it before I hit the streets in public and look like a right pleb. Spec is just standard Team spec with Magura MT7's. For reference this is what I rode street trials on back in about 1997 (Azonic DS-1 custom build):
  18. Nice one thanks! I believe the bike came with Magura brakes and Hope rotors as standard but I'll definitely get Magura rotors is I need to. So far, sticking the rotors and pads in the dishwasher then manually cleaning with fairy liquid, rinsing off and drying has made the front brake almost perfect. The rear brake still has a little give so I'll get the pads centered up for now but I have ordered a set of Trialtech Sport pads which I'll put in the rear brake when they arrive.
  19. Awesome thanks. If cleaning the current rotors does not work today then I'll order some of those.
  20. Nice one! I'll try that today and just in case it does not work all I can find in stock anywhere are Magura Storm HC rotors, will they be ok? And I've found 1 set of pads online in stock so I've ordered those and I'll keep searching for another set. Hopefully just a set of pads and a good rotor clean will do the job.
  21. Just picked up a used 2019 Fourplay Team (MT7 brakes) and the brake pads were contaminated by the previous owner recently so they put a full set of new Aztec pads on for me but either the rotors are also contaminated or the pads need bedding in because the wheels won't lock completely under load. I gave the pads a very light sand on a flat surface and cleaned the rotors with isopropyl alcohol but it hasn't really made much difference. Can someone tell me what rotors and pads I need and where to get them from in the UK as I'm assuming the only thing I can really do now is replace them? I believe my current rotors are Hope Trials Zone V2 so should I stick with those again? What pads should I go for?
