Thanks for all the comments guys. Yeh the song is Golden Touch by Razorlight. Just thuoght I'd try soemthnig differnt to my usual rocky/punky type music choices fror vids. Its not apparent from that angle but on that rail line at 1:23 I am still gapping to the rail but to a smaller slanted rail on the far side of the more prominant one in the foreground. I want to do the proper one, its possible, but I'm scared. lol. Thanks again :bunny:

Just to Sam really, but to others too. I know I said i was gonna go, but logistics of sunday trains, and engineering works means its not gonna really be possible for me. I'll just save my energy and money for the roadtrip rides. Sorry.

I like to tend to stay out of discussions liek this one, but I thought this might be a worthwhile post. I am not trying to put you down or fight here, just show my side of the story. To clarify where I stand: I got EMA, due to my parents earning near the to £30k boundary between them I got £10 a week. I can see that some people may misuse this benefit, but it is usefull and worthwhile to many. I had to get the train to college as I live in a silly new town with nothing but houses and more houses. It worked out best to get a train pass which was £10 a week, admittedly my parents gave me £5 towards that, so I had £5 a week of EMA to use for what I wished. I will admit this just went in the with rest of my money spent on sweets biking etc, but it was usefull. You say your parents have to pay for your sisters uni, school lunches and buses. They dont have to they just can due to thier income level. My parents did admitedly help me with trains, as above but they cannot and will not help me thuogh uni, if i go and I only had 1 school meal a week due to costs. The rest of the time I had packed lunches. You say you get £50 a month allowance. After the age of 16 when I got a paper round I got no money from my parents as an alowance, only £8 a month (£2 a week) from my gran. I have to work to afford all my biking stuff , any clothes I dont need and put lots towards shoes etc. Basically what i'm saying is that becuase your more well off you can have more things that you migth take for granted, you parents can give you £50 allowance, even thuogh your getting a job. Some of the people getting £30 EMA might not get much if any allowance. So they have every right to spend it on sweets and going out etc. I see no problem with it. I think some people get a bit sour grapes about it when they miss out on effectivly free money.

Links down for me too.

Surly that 20mm difference in wheelbase has much more to do with personal preferance and height than which competition you ride? And in the UK you would only be riding BIU competitions too, so does that mean we all need to run 1065 or shorter? Sorry if the post is a bit rude, it isn't meant to be, but might sound like it. I just personally find this obsession with whether people are BUI or UCI a bit annoying. Ride what you want how you want. Back on topic....... Get the GU. If YOU want it, try it. You'll never know how it suits you till you try it, it maybe that with hindsight that it was a bad move, but you'll never know that unless you buy one.

Cool. I'll see you guys tomorrow in Oxford and probs thursday and friday :shifty:

372 IMO. I had 384mm stays on my Leeson mod, with similar bb height and head angle and a wheel base of 1020. And it felt lovely. Longer stays mean harder to hold on backwheel, but feels better for gaps/sidehops etc. Seeing as its a mod and therefore really easy on the backwheel anyway, longer stays can be run without too much difference to control, just nicer to gap I found. Short stays as someone said above can mean the bike becomes very twitchy and "pogo-sticky"which means they are very easy to place on backwheel and to hold there, but also easy to mean if your not totally incontrol you can bouncy off sideways or all over place. Its up to you really. Go ride some bikes, try mods witrh long back ends and short backends and see what you prefer. Personally I'd go for the longerstays of your choice.

Well thats wasn't easy (Y) , but I think I did OK on it. I answered every question and felt like I got ok answers for most, but I was working right up to when they take the papers off you. Hopefully I did well enough to keep on target for an A , I did pretty well at AS got an A with a good margin and I did well on other modules so fingers crossed they will make up for any mistakes on this one. How did everyone else find it?

Chrome does work, and it isn't as bad as peole seem to say with the wet. My set up with a chrome rim with Plaz Spanish Fly pads is a relly nice brake I think. Its fairly suseptable to grease on the rim, so need to be carefull when handling the bike, but when the rim and pads are clean its really good. In damp weather its even better, and if its raining lightly aslong as i drag the brake every now and then to clear the water it works fine. But once a substancial amount of water gets on the brake surface you cna forget about brakes, as people saw at the memorial ride in Abingdon. No brakes is just a challenge :D And yes it does feel like you speed up when its really wet as you expect to slow down but dont.

Yes, I've been there, done that. A couple of months ago I misjudged a nose tap on the top of a bank and went over the bars to land in broken glass and grvel, cut up my p[alms and finger tips nicely, end of ride, end of riding for that week. I havent really ridden without gloves since.

:shifty: I went from an Echo Team to a B20 when I used to ride mod. It was the best move I made I think. I was tending towards the long low silver type of riding and bikes on my Team, and was getting bored really. I cracked my Team and wanted a new frames, so I got a second hand b20. I was such a contrast to ride and sooooo much fun. And although tyhe frame was less suited to big gaps and ups I was ridingf better as I was enjoying myself and riding more. This said it did crack on me after just over a month. Though it was seond hand, and I dont know what abuse it went through before hand. I got it welded and it lasted another month or so before recracking. But as far as I know its never broken, I swpped it for and old X-hydra to keep me going with Mr Monty, and I believe he may still be riding it, or atleast he was a few months ago. Just follow your heart :shifty:

Engoediee offer a free serice, which for many people seems to work perfectly well, while for others doesn't work so well. Basically it seems a little rude to phrase your post as you did. Just think a bit.

I'm really impressed with my chrome rim. Works good in dry, great in damp. If itsa raining lightly as long as i drag it every now and then it wors great just like in damp. If its raining heavilly or lots of puddles, its useless, might aswell ride deathgrip, or just do frontwheel moves only. For me iots a great brake that works well and look bling. For someone else it might not be as suitable depejnding on what you like to ride. i.e. get mud on it and you would kill surface.
