can't generalise all of them deng pads. but they are bad... except zoo pads but they really only work with smooths. plus i think they changed the compound last year or something now they're harder... steve
-
welcome dude. steve

i think a lot of people are missing the point. on tarty and trials-uk it is stated as a comp frame. so for sensible comp/natty riding (which is what the frame is marketed for) then i don't see why it'll crack in places, unless you start doing massive drops/drop gaps and hooks. its like your xc marlarky, scott for example make their CR1 carbon in their scale/spark series soo light so its SUITABLE for their high end competition uses. and even the high end ransom come in their carbon (though might not be CR1 carbon) you wouldn't use a road bike for off road will you? people need to look at what the bike is aimed for.. steve

oh my god check out the x-tort's bb and length of the chainstays. anddddddd is it me or those giant look pretty swish in white/blue/plain black?? they're sex steve
-
if you can afford it the SKF is the best ISIS bb you can get. heavy but probably last you a long time and i mean it. truvativ has bad bearings...so i wouldn't go near them. depends if you want light bb or heavy ones, obviously the heavier pack more pounds and maybe extra bearing so they last longer. echo external are ok but mine didn't last, plus the tool is absolutely terrible...(didn't even fit my cups) but it is a clever design. finally. maybe wait for the Hope external ISIS bb? steve

Any Old Skool Giant Fans Out There Please
Gandalf the Yellow replied to CRANK BRO's topic in Trials Chat
i had the electric blue 04' version and it was lush. it had slightly tweaked geo i believe, but pretty much similar to the original version.. its pretty light, geo's great for street/some natty but not so much for the TGS stuff.. get 1. steve -
so whatever happened to orange ashton?? they never really produced anything together apart from that 24" entry level street bike?? lame. sounds like they might be able to fire up something good with martyn on their frames though. good luck to rowan and ben steve
-
who cares about aussie accent. she's buff ting!! anyway. good tv coverage. 4 mins of pure trials basic knowledge its pretty good.. defo should do something like this over here...maybe at a time when people watch it too. steve

Rob Clarke's Custom Painted Czar
Gandalf the Yellow replied to rathergoodpie's topic in Bike Pictures
i love these custom paint jobbys. looks so neat. can i ask how you drill out the headtube? i want to try but don't know how to go about doing it! steve -
mine are creaking...eeek! don't like the look of them bent ones steve
-
nice adam. whose that guy on the mod? i ain't seen him before. loads of flashes. i like it. and 3rd and 4th pic. you gapped it from the rail?? cos thats sick. steve

i got 1 coming my way. not liking the sound of things but meh mag is brittle so yes like alu alloy frame it'll snap. and most probably have stress marks where its been fatigued. but you can't really tell till someone's actually tested 1 properly for trials. its too new. but we need new things to keep us evolving other bikes will look and ride the same for the coming years. steve
-
overkill. there's no hole and its super thick. steve
-
thats sweet. i want to see some 26 inch as well. steve
-
generally i think coloured forks make the bike look cheap, but thats my opinion. white will look best with the red forks though me thinks. steve

What Should Beginners Practice?
Gandalf the Yellow replied to Chandler's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
you need to do good trackstands (balancing on 2 wheels) i think thats is the fundamental of trials, every move/line will be starting off from a trackstand, in between 'tricks' (if thats what you want to call them) to regain balance etc. but following that stuff like bunnyhops, backhop, kick hop (gap) then move on to something like pedal hop. go buy yourself a copy of tricks and stunts as well. really good stuff in there and everything's in order steve -
Heatsink Coust Or Standard Red 08 Pads?
Gandalf the Yellow replied to Gandalf the Yellow's topic in Trials Chat
i think thats the decisive post for me. and sounds like a few people are not 100% satisfied with the coust when half worn in and for the money as well. the only reason the Reds aren't winning in the poll is because they're pretty new and i'm assuming not a lot of people have them compared to the many coust users on the forum... i'm sure there's a good reason why Steve bought out the 08 Red's. steve -
where's the headtube?? and oh god look at the flanges!! steve
-
really enjoyed that. sweet streety video. steve

Heatsink Coust Or Standard Red 08 Pads?
Gandalf the Yellow replied to Gandalf the Yellow's topic in Trials Chat
can i ask for those that voted for the snowy's, tell me whats good about them? because they're softer compound and quieter? looks like the coust is what most people prefer.... steve
