  1. Pads: Heatsink Red CNC Time used: 5 weeks Rim used: DOB magnesium Grind: sharp as a kitchen knife (initially) Brake used: magura standard hosing, tryall 08 booster, mineral bleed, What is your opinion of a working brake: decent noise to tell me its working, good bite without using tar REVIEW: initially was rubbish, i had tarty to rim grind my dob but turns out they used a normal grinding disc for alu rims so it was worn away almost within first hour of riding. initial pad wear went down quick as well, the brake became silent (although it kind of make me sounded smooth and stealthy) it just started to loose bite. got a 0.8mm grinding disc and gave that a go, apart from the dangerousness of the grinding process itself (magnesium sparks and crazy bits all over the place was immense) the grind worked well. instant bite and noise, although the sharpness went after a few rides due to the thin grinding disc digging into the rim to made 'deeper grooves' all over (pretty hard to explain) it turns out the rim and pad combo still worked a treat, 5 weeks in and bite is still awesome. only downside of the pad i found was 1 side was made badly, maybe just a 1 off and i was lucky enough to have it, the backing wasn't machined properly where it slots into the cylinder itself so i had to do a bit of filing and smashing to get it in. pad material is top stuff though. steve
  2. you'll find this usefull........ heatsink thread.. there's more heatsink review from other users. and to give you an idea, i went for the reds over coust with that poll, and not regretting it. it is a really good pad with good bite and noise, plus im running a DOB rim with half worn sharpness and it still works mint. onllly weenie problem i had was 1 of the cnc backing wasn't machined properly so i did a bit of filing and smashing it fit the pad onto the cylinder.. steve
  3. thats what i've just done. don't know how P60 works (can't really make much sense of it) so im just sending it all off tomorrow with my payslips and hope to claim £744 over last year and some from the previous tax year... fingers crossed, i need this PAYE back. how did you proof that you're a student? steve
  4. here are some pics i took. sorry for stealing the topic andy hope you don't mind.. steve
  5. i was looking at these, they look good but for the same price i preferred the look of the DOB... much more cleaner and simpler and lighter of course. here's some pics of them built that i found. look aight i suppose steve
  6. good luck dude, it would be one of a kind..... such a shame, they stopped importing them into the big UK trials scenes because the unsuccessful 05/06 model which was crap. they forgot how good the previous ones they made were! 08 would have been a good hit i reckon with a fair price point, i won't mind having to say the least. steve
  7. they're all crap? my tryall was 3 weeks old then it just fell apart because it was so badly made, and there was play on the bearings and cups. im hoping it'll last, it seem to be alright on the bike at the moment..... my echo external was OK, though the tool that came with the f**ker didn't even fit the cups, so i had to smash it in and smash it back out when it was all tightened. and again due to its bad designs it either came loose every 2 mins or i've over tightened it so i crushed all the bearings on drive side. save yourself some trouble and get an SKF. probably the only one thats worth its money. steve
  8. hey fellas, tried a search but no luck. anyway i was wondering if i can get certain videos to play when windows go into screen saver mode full screen? hooooow exactly can i go about doing that?? or am i talking crap and nothing like that exists..? thanks for looking in. steve
  9. my god that took my breath away for a moment. awesome video. the riding was more linked compared to dreams of glass, probably why im thinking this video is 'smoother' and 'streetier'? anyway, top job, really enjoyed it and wants to watch more. steve
  10. oooo my what a gorgeous looking bike, double disc definitely make the rider seem smoother. makes me want to build up my ZHI now with double disc........ maybe my summer project, but im loving the DOB at the moment hehe steve
  11. nice one rob, definitely get some pics in the day to show it off ride soon steve
  12. this bike is mega cool. nice that you're getting back into riding. steve
  13. its great, i mine was a year and 4 months old when i stopped riding it, and thats because i went modstock. needed usual trials maintenance, so tensioning and truing it a bit, but other than that it was great. though i'm sure it would have been a mega good build if it was a mavic rim instead of shitting tryalls and won't need any truing at all! steve
  14. very clean looking bike there.. though what is 'STX on 08 XTR clutch'?? steve
  15. there were obstacles that the riders have to ride over..... pretty good video, he lost most of the time though due to bad start.. 18-15 gearing *** ahah. steve
  16. got an exam the next day, f**k it i'll come anyway for my firsty Dj ride to show some respect, it'll be a break from my revision steve
  17. yep, my house mate at uni has 1.... was totally original spec till i got him to get some new stuff for it, right fun little bike to ride, then i got him to buy tensile freewheel and onza pads and echo booster...best upgrade for that bike..hehe. he's now got my old zoo pads (original softies) and it works mint. only problem is. its bloody short as..... steve
  18. great video, though i preferred the riding he did in Aerial 2.... absolutely mint dvd. steve
  19. agreed, bit of an underrate production considering desmond put a lot of effect into it, went pretty much all over the world, gone through a lot of old footage and research on some legends that are still around... i like it because there's a decent amount of riding, though overall gives me a better insight into the root of trials, not just the modern scenes where it's full of ridiculously massive moves and people trying to impress others (although sometimes enjoyable as well), though it does show how competitive the current pro's are.. steve
  20. like a bear on the bike, you look like a big fella. loads of power in your riding which i like, very smooth as well. steve
  21. one good reason why drop gaps are shit and pointless. steve
  22. its worked much longer than that for me with me 0.8mm grinding disc, had it for about 3 weeks now, get one and give it a go, it really does work. sharpness goes away quickly but because of how thin it is the disc cuts a deeper groove, maybe im not great at grinding i don't know, but for how 'smooth' my dob rim is at the moment its still offering a lot of bite. steve
