Oops, should have mentioned the frame... First post edited (Y)

Right, I snapped my Koxx Forxx off at the steerer (how predictable... bonded steerers suck!) and so I need some new forks. The KOT forks look rather appealing, but they're about 20mm apparently. I was wondering what sort of affect this would have on how the bike swaps/pigeons/whateveryouwanttocallits for example? So if anyone could tell me how they would affect the riding or make other suggestions for forks then go ahead (please bear in mind I don't have too much money to spend here, and anyone suggesting anything with a bonded steerer will be stabbed). (Y) EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to mention I have a Koxx Levelboss 1100! Silly me... Cheers guys, Ben

They haven't left a mobile number... I can see you're on a reply spree, but read a bit into things first?

I do keep trying, but it just keeps ringing out, there's not even an answerphone to leave a message on. (This post is a lame excuse to keep this topic near the top of the board, in the vain hope that someone here knows who it is, someone must know surely! Ask your friends' friends' cousins!) Help me out here, I really need a bike!

You tart! Depends how fast you want the frame I suppose... But waiting for another colour just seems daft to me! If you're bothered spary it and get some new stickers.

Have done, but apparently all they have is that number, so they're in the same boat. They've said they'll try and contact him too which is great of them. BUMP for this post! Ben

Right, basically I've seen a Koxx 1065 advertised on cleanbikes' Nu2u section here: www.cleanbikes.co.uk/BIKES/Nu2u.htm (It's the second bike down) I really want to buy this bike, but after many attempts at phoning the number that's there I can't get through, it's just keeps ringing and ringing! So, if anyone knows who this Karl is and can point me in the way of an email address or tell me if he's on holiday or something, that'd be great. (Y) Ben

Great stuff Cheers for uploading it!

Seconded, I hated mine. If you can get hold of the Fat 66 version though you need never worry about pinches, the sidewalls are erm... beefy to say the least. Slightest bit of moisture and they turn to ice though, you're waaaaaaay better of with Michelin/Maxxis.

I know Sam Wheeler had exactly the same problem (well, he kept reducing his ankles to a bloody mess on his rear magura) and I think he bought the 661 Ankle Biters, it might be worth sending him a PM? Ben

I'll have about £800 if the insurance company coughs up (i hope to god they do! :shifty: ) I know most people will think a higher spec t-rex is the best bet, but it's not really what i'm after, i'd prefer a shorter bike along the lines my previous zebdi, i was gonna start saving for a leeson (thinking sort of like: 1045, level bb, 390 stays, 72 degree head angle) but i need to buy a whole new bike now! :P So if anyone feels like making some suggestions, feel free :rip: Ben

I think i can see magura mounts on the mod, but then again it may just be the rear dropout... both look fairly pimpy (Y) at least they're not silver! :S ben EDIT: Having had a closer look in photoshop it would appear to be too high to be the dropout, looks like it has magura mounts to me! (don't sue me if i'm wrong)

Ah right. :( It should be fine if they do a proper job and re-heat treat it as well, so make sure they do! If they don't the frame will be as brittle as crisps. Ben
-
Depends what it's made of, where it cracked/snapped and who'd be welding it again. A bit more info and we're much more likely to be able to help :( Ben EDIT: If the frame in question is the one in your gallery, it's probably worth trying to pick up a second hand frame instead! :)

Fatmike runs 16:15, but it actually doesn't feel insanely spinny (pretty spinny though). All I can say is you'll have to try it for yourself, there's very little we can say to help I'm afraid :D Definitely don't run 16:15, as you will be likened to Fatmike :P

the way i balance on two wheels without hopping is trackstanding, which gives you that little sideways roll from the front wheel to correct your balance sideways (obviously forwards and backwards shouldn't pose too much of a problem :- ) but you can't do this on the back wheel! i think someone further up said that the main problem is going to be sideways, back and forth shouldn't be too hard... might be worth a try to learn, i can see it looking very controlled, although if you need to correct your position (the main reason people hop around?) it falls apart a bit. /ramble  ben
