^^^^ thats a very good point that i think some TF users dont really grasp or so it seems engineering is really just problem solving in the end... if you make thins and work in someoned factory/workshop ypu'll most likely be working for an engineer but not be one yourself.... and therefore most likely lose a good cut of the money. If you feel you can do it, go to university for the particular profession because its an incredibly competitive business... 5 people have been told to leave my course and were told that they just dont have what it takes.... and these were very intelligent people! :( oli by the way i scrapped A levels and did an AVCE in engineering.. managed to get into a 320 ucas point requirement university degree with 120 ucas point purely because I had a specific knowledge of engineering.

ah but did you know that some aeroplane wings are glued on as a primary fixing and nuts and bolts as a secondary? kinda scary? I did engineering/art combined foundation degree ( although i had to do flippin mechanics 2 which is NOT foundation ) to gain uber knowledge going into a product design degree... im so ahead of the class.. its cool as hell (Y) oli

there's no beneficial effect from smoking... but those who do know it's just nice to smoke.... and yes we all know it's killing us and we know that no one likes us doing it and we're very sorry but its what we do. If you can afford to live away and the course in that particular uni is genuinely better than at home then go... will be an unforgettable experience. anyway remember it'll be you 12,000 in debt not yur rents oli

thankyou all so much for the help but i never said i needed a brake... i already have the brake/lever/cables/pads i wanted to know if there were any tricks to setting them up so they lock a bit better. new pads may help and im hoping to get some chromes when i run into some cash. oli

I've always thought ( whether accurate or not ) that it's not at all possible to physically possible to travel through time... this is gonna be hard to explain.. basically, to me, time is something that we use to measure.... er... time we measure a distance in metres.... so its like we travel along metres the same as we a we travel along a timeline.... we dont travel through metres and likewise can not travel through time. I know this is really vague but its my theory thingo ?? time is a non-physical thing that we created and therefore is not a conduit for us to travel. oli

Everyone at work yesterday went into the centre of the zoo and had the silence there... i stayed where I was.. I think making a public show of it [with notices telling the customers and stuff] was a joke. the respect comes from taking your own time out to remember what happened which i did and especially because it affected me directly. oli

I was wondering when the annual 'anyone smoke' topic was supposed to happen. I still smoke... not exactly proud of it... not thinking of quitting yet... ask people EVERY TIME I HAVE ONE if its ok for me to smoke near them my addiction not theirs... i think i hate hardcore anti-smokers just as much as they hate smokers not saying its right but the only way people can live together in this world is through acceptance and tolerance... im sure there are things you do as non smokers that piss me off as much as my smoking does for you... you may argue that those things probably arent detrimental to my health but thats the way it goes. and can you all please learn to spell... please! oli

I startred with a desktop and loved it... got the top spec compaq presario on boxing day with a 700 squid reduction (Y) i use lots of cad and 3d modelling programs and a desktop is definitely superior ALTHOUGH I spunked 400 on a second hand laptop [which is awesomely powerful] but nothing beats the old desktop? as far as i care its more power for your money if you buy a desktop and there's a lot more you can do with them. up tp you but id go for a desktop oo and more space for music too .. i have 78Gb on mine now ho ho ho make sure you gert i-tunes and my-tunes on your uni network. oli

I know I'm probably the least affected by all this as I missed the train to liverpool street by like 3 minutes ( lucky ) but I would have been on the northern line underground ( moorgate and kings cross which were both affected ) around the time of the explosions. oli my thoughts go out
