  1. Some locations mentioned here https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/new-akrigg-vid/
  2. My first outing on this tonight, enjoyed very much, owned it for a day now. Taking some getting used to after riding MTBs for the past ten years or so, and the closest thing to it I've ever ridden was BMX somewhere around 25 years ago. Looking forward to making some progress, still on the low level basic stuff.
  3. Found SteezyStern's channel on youtube the other day. He has a bunch of 27 howtos.
  4. Could do with some body tip cues for trackstand. Guessing I should aim for a fairly natural body position... Stand tall rather than bent over? Not too forward or too backward? Slightly bent legs? I mostly practice trackstand on an incline, and would quite like to fakie out of it. Any tips on this?
  5. I've been doing the trails basics for a few weeks and sometimes try with my lead foot backwards instead. On the one hand I think it might help diminish imbalances, on the other I suspect it's just make things more difficult and wasting a bit of time. So when I do try I'm not exactly committed to the idea. Should I be or should I just not worry about that until I'm competent?

    Boring riding you say?
  7. Slight language barrier with some of them. YT autotranslated closed captions "hilarious". How does one "Empty set before stopping to stop and frying"? Forgot about Seths Bikes Hacks
  8. Detoured on my commute home along coast starttng Pegwell bay, definitely a variety of spots between there and Ramsgate harbour. Maybe not so much if you're ultra pro, I don't know, I only see stuff within my capability and not much further beyond my ability. My ability being that of a beginner at trials on a rigid 26" mtb but having ridden mtb for years. Then a few spots suitable for beginners along the cliff tops (see image) heading toward King George park. If you're pro trials then ride down these steps turn left at the bottom and along the beach are some big rocks broken concrete structures. Actually, you can see then in 3d map view if you move out over cliff tops and rotate around. Might need to wait for tide to be out not sure I don't go down that way much. Beach is a bit unrideable down there (ie loose sand and/or flint stone & chalk rock).
  9. Cheers Mark, great info. Would rather avoid proprietary parts. But then at the same time I probably won't be needing to replace parts as much as with a regular geared MTB given single speed's robustness (so I hear) and it won't be mud churning through the Winter and I probably won't want to do my 8 mile round trip commute on it too often either. So still tempted by the Czar ION, it's lighter, disc brakes no extra, and I mostly wear shorts . I did wonder if the SLX brakes might not be quite right for trials, so glad to have asked that. It might come down to how much the cost increases with disc brakes are on the Flow. I haven't used non-disc brakes on a bike for years, can't imagine going back to not stopping in a hurry, but they must work well enough for trials right?
  10. Thinking about getting a street trials bike, budget has led me to look at 24", namely Czar Ion, or Inspired Flow. The Ion has the edge at the moment as it comes with disc brakes. Can swap to some hydraulic SLX from my commute bike. Am I right in thinking there's not anything cheaper than these two bikes for riding street trials? Are there any other bikes I should look at at similar price point? For some reason I thought Canyon might do something but no - any other fairly big name brands do them?
  11. Where's the promotion? This google search only shows me one website listing the event, and that's a dedicated trials website so pretty niche and targetted. There's YouTubers riding trials, who also ride mountain bikes etc, with tens of thousands of subscribers, so there's people interested in watching it, and a small proportion of those might even have a go. Why not push it to the attention of the mountain bike press?
  12. Hi Senna, There's some videos here that should be helpful to you:
  13. I can't do trials (yet?), don't have a trials bike (yet?), but here's a picture of me doing my best ever bunny hop. Just to say hello mostly.
  14. Rigid 26" (old Trek 3900, frame & seat clamp only original component) 1x9 hardtail for commuting. Exotic carbon forks. RSP dropper. SLX brakes. Built up last year, Bird Zero TR 650b/27.5" hardtail. 130mm Yari. E13 TRS+ 150mm dropper. 1x11 SLX groupset. Tubeless. Fun. Lastly, 26" Canyon Nerve XC 120mm FS, UST rims, KS 125mm dropper.
  15. Margate rider myself, regular cyclist, mountain biker not a trials rider, but trying to get into street type stuff on the MTB to make doorstep rides more interesting. Current goal is to gain bunny hop height. There's loads of stuff around the Turner centre, and Walpole bay clifftops of various heights which I'm slowly working my way up, either to hop onto or drop off of.
