its great fun. go out for a blast on bmx, session trials when you feel the need. its completely different in the way that you dig a jump back 3 foot instead of getting 1" on a sidehop, really see the difference. the trouble with its just such high speeds which are hard to get used to with a trials background, but alot of fun when you get fast enough. my advice is do it. its great fun, but you might end up taking a couple summers off trials...

dunno if it has finished changing yet, last time i was up there, it was all borded off for building, nightmare, it was the ultimate park. theres still plenty to play around on anyway, well have a good session. who is availible for saturday the 6th of june?

Will be good to see you again steve, we are looking at a reunion ride, when uni closes down for summer and everyone gets back to the bridge. would be better to see some new blood around the town aswell. come along.

Any one still riding in cambridge? summer is back in, the sun is shining, and im almost ready to dust my bike off again. around most of the time, but can be busy, just looking if anyone is interested in riding in the city sometime next month or evenings. there used to be alot of good rides years back, and its time to get them going on again. anyone going to join me?

what days u down? im real busy, but can prolly do weekend or friday night...depending. im out of town tues-thursday and working so mid week isnt going to happen (unusual for working 2days lately) yea im dusting down the old bike lately, should be a good laugh, dunno who else will come, but well find out eh?

yea, sounds like you need a 24" there almost as capable as a 26" for trials stuff, but they feel like abmx, light and whippy for any streety bits. just puts a bit more fun and variety into your ride. if you are thinking of buying a leeson ive got one thing to say. Clive Leeson is a decent, honest bloke and makes one hell of a bike. i do reccomend him. ultimately go round and ride a fair few bikes and figure out what u like. its the only way to decide, cause its all personal choice.

Spot on. i tried it with my old zebdi when i killed my ET, having no money, but being at college i welded on some 24" mounts on the bottom of the seatstays, rode well for a while. it does make the bike feel more "compact" and a bit lower, but not huge amounts of difference, lots of fun. go for it i say, ull be able to experience a 24 without the expense, just a bit lower than a real one. as said before, its better for streety stuff, but "pure" trials is still possible on them.

personally id just replace the one nipple, save yourself most of a day (if your unexperienced) can be done in a couple hours if you know what your doing though. for the building part check out http://sheldonbrown.com/wheels/index.html - wheel building god. if your getting a new hub, youll find out how to build a wheel pretty quick. just take your time, make sure the pattern is right all the way through (1 spoke out can make you start again, ive done it.) then just slowly bring the wheel into tension when its straight (1 turn all the way round) untill there all tight and youve got a strong wheel. basicly replace the 1, then when u get a new hub have some fun.

along with me and his own website. there are alot of slating videos on youtube - they are all fakes or blown out of proportion. he IS hard as nails. so he stayed in a hotel? at the time he's already survived more than most men on the patagonian ice fields. you dont see people slating ray mears because he actually owns a house and doesnt Actually live in the woods all the time. thing is they are too hard to compare, one is a teacher, the other is nuts (in the good way)

Mears... hes doing a whole lot more for the world, the new wild food program is just stunning. getting back to routes, its the way life needs to go. as said, Grylls can get out of anywhere in the world (respect hes f**king hard) where as mears will happily make himself a cushdy life anywhere in the world, chilling in the woods. For me its got to be the sustainibility, intsead of the run away from the scary woods, back to "civilization" yet, as i said, respect to Grylls, he is the hardest nail out there.

abortion is sensible, in the right circumstances - people who cant/should'nt raise a baby. one thing it definately is not - art. really, who wants to see a massive blood stain on a canvas? use a plaster instead.

is very good, gets your speed and courage up, but can feel a bit wierd when you get back to bigger wheels with a longer frame. can also make standing still feel really odd. if you take up BMX it will change your style massively, goes alot more street, worth getting a 24" or a mod if your taking that up. great fun though. Climbing is a good one, if you have a local climbing wall or rocks (better) try jumping as far as possible and catching a rock, does alot for explosive.

Hammer is key. one race in, loose, block of wood under, another ontop of the steerer tube, bosh the wood untill its flush (keep going) then repeat it for the other one. job done, never actually used a headset press, but this always works. if its going in a little squiff, just bash the other side untill its flush.

rear suspention is a good idea... as for the welder, Mig is a good all-rounder, if you are doing alot of welding, get a gas mig, the wire is more expensive if its been treated with flux. http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/choosing_mig_welder.htm check out more here, make your own decision. mine would be an arc with a fine rod. if you like playing with giant, electrofied matches that is. quite a bit of skill involved, if your going arc, get practiced before u get onto your car.

Smart car would be amazing on the rally, apart from the fact the boot can only fit a thimble inside. best way for those ugly cars to go - anywhere far, far away. we are in the process of finding people to email, thing is sponsors need to be real products, things that will help us and the world, i dont like advertising tripe. although, everylittle helps, so we are sending sponsor emails to almost everyone we can think of, that has really nice stuff as for fundraising, its better to come from the people, as it is all going to real people in the end.

Defiantely good to get onto pioneering this rally. there are still places left (far as i know) for Africa Rally - no one wants to do this, its rediculously dangerous. we have teamed up with another Nova, should be good share spares, crap petrol etc. Tom, sounds like an amazing story, beasting the Landys, we are all going for the same reason. ADVENTURE! oh, did you make it? another option would be a Panda 4x4 1000cc and light, which helps in the muddy stuff...
