French National Champion Marion Porcher (22 years-old) - Bad Crash

Good to hear that! -
Get trialtech/jitsie pads, and avid rotors. Those echo rotors are probably your issue. Mine was even great with an avid rotor and standard pads.

I would guess people don't use them just because "oh, they're mechanical, hydraulic sounds fancy, it must be better". Or they might have a good reason, but I can't think of one(feel might be one though). I've never felt a brake that was better than my bb7, except maybe the same exact brake with an avid ultimate lever haha. Make sure you get odyssey linear slic cable and jitsie pads, they're both great. Finally, if you don't already have sd7 levers, get some. They're cheap and awesome. Just my opinion, you should take into account that I'm young and lightweight, and don't have much experience. Good luck with whatever you get.

Any updates? -
:/ Titanium and carbon?
-
WHAT ARE THEY??
-
Hmm, thanks.
-
Wow those are awesome! And where can I get some of those hubs haha?
-
I've heard that the levers are great and the slaves aren't. Many people I know run racing line levers(some with trialtech lever blades, which are awesome) with magura slaves, and they're all amazing brakes. Also, I've heard that the racing line hoses aren't so great(smaller inner diameter), so go for trialtech hoses if you can.

They're all over eBay super cheap. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Adjustable-Harness-Chest-Strap-Mount-For-SJ4000-A7-SJCAM-SJ6000-Xiaomi-yi-Camera-/141712493904?nav=SEARCH

As JJ Gregorowicz told me, preload! The more you preload, the better your sidehops will be.

Are those the java carbon disc forks? How have they held up?
-
That's a beauty!! I was hoping to make it to Colorado, but I live all the way out in New York, and I'm young, and super busy. Maybe next year. I'm looking forward to seeing pics and vids from it though!

Let's get some pictures of the lightest and/or highest spec 26" comp bikes out there. Titanium, carbon, etc. Post 'em up!

I just ordered the 5000+. I wasn't planning on it, but after seeing a demo of the 60fps slowmo.......
-
Okay. I read that the 720p60fps is just doubled frames, not sure if that's true. Thanks.
-
Okay. I think I'm gonna go with the 4000, what do you think?
-
Okay thanks guys! Do you think the 60fps is worth the extra money for slowmo shots(which I don't do too often)? Or should I just get the 4000? And do the sellers I posted for them look legit? Thanks again!

Hey. I am young and have a limited budget, but have been wanting a small camera like a gopro for filming my riding. Anything better than my phone, which films at 720p*30fps. I can't afford a gopro, but was looking around and found these. Has anyone ever heard of SJcam or tried anything made by them? What do you think? The video comparisons with gopros make these look pretty nice. There's a much cheaper one that only does 1080p*30fps, is the 60fps really worth twice the money? I've been thinking it would be nice for slowmo editing? http://www.sjcam.com/cameras/29-sjcam-sj5000-plus-ambarella-a7ls75-1080p-60fps-wifi-sport-action-camera.html This site has them cheaper than anywhere else. Could it be a ripoff? http://www.gearbest.com/action-cameras/pp_197244.html Here's a link to the 30fps model. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wifi-12MP-HD-1080P-Car-Bike-Helmet-Cam-Sports-DV-Action-Waterproof-Camera-SJ4000-/271759564096?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f4621dd40 What do you all think? Thanks, JN

I second this.

Thanks everybody. And thanks for the offer Damon, but shipping to the US would've been super expensive. I just purchased a MET helmet from someone in america.
-
Thanks so much everyone. I'll look at all of those.
-
I'm looking for a helmet that is light weight and comfortable. What would you guys recommend? Thanks, J

Pallets are always great(that's what have), but make sure you spend A LOT of time doing technical riding(rocks, balancing on narrow objects, etc). I rode only pallets and simple stuff before my first competition, then got there and realized that I could rear wheel hop(I couldn't pedal kick, gap, or do anything useful on the rear wheel), but couldn't trackstand, ride over small rocks, or anything that is necessary in a comp. Also, don't get stuck in the whole "you MUST learn rear wheel hops immediately, they are the only thing that counts in trials" thing. You will need to learn them and you can do that now, but get your basics and 2 wheel riding solid before you rear wheel hop/pedal kick/gap over everything. I'd stick with the 20" for a while. It's a great bike, and will be wonderful to start on. I found that 20" bikes are more flicky and make some moves easier to learn(also great in small spaces, tight corners, etc), while 26" bikes are more stable, and easier to control. I ride a 26" now, and really like it. That's just my opinion, everyone has a different riding style, bike, and attitude. The best thing I can say is try everything, and pick what feels right to you. It isn't about what other people think, it's about what you like. Good luck, Johannes
