Just changed brakes to a new set of zee's. Think rims are a bit narrow so looking for pimps or stiffys. Not sure yet about colours...
-
Ask chain reaction, would post them with brakes so no extra postage costs
-
I've found a place in Cardiff with macaskill edition ones for £49.99 each. They build wheel sets also. I've just emailed to see how much to build wheels onto my hubs.
-
Does nobody like the atomlab pimp?
-
They seem slightly untrue now, kid I bought the bike of said they were as strong as anything. It's not an immediate change, it's just something I'm looking at if they turn out to be to thin/ weak
-
Good choice, don't think you will be disappointed
-
Now I've changed the brakes from slx to zee's and new discs I'm happy with the bike apart from want to change rims. Quick spec is 2012 fourplay, team forks, hope tech evo hubs, Trials rear. Hope bb and headset. Slx cranks, Inspired riser bars, trial tech stem. The rims are pimplites in white, look nice but very thin. Could I just buy rims and use same hubs and spokes? Or would new spokes be needed? Trying not to spend a fortune as just bought the new brakes
-
Yes I'm learning, always played around on mods but wasn't very good, lol. Fancied a go on 24 so saved and bought the fourplay. It's weird getting used to it but fun. The brakes feel nice, soft lever that you can lightly pull to slow down or a little but more pressure for total lock. They will only get better as they bed in aswell
-
I bought the zee discs as the ice tech that were on felt fairly weak. Either way for brakes would be good. I liked the zee set up and was pre bled so just bolted on. I'm not sure I'll even go for the 810 levers as I'm finding the zee ones good. Brakes as I've found out is all personal preference. Just depends if you want the diy route
-
Also leisure lake bikes have the 810's in stock ready to ship for £135. That's where I got my zee's from and they have good customer service
-
You could try what I've done, buy zee set up, I paid £87.99 for each front and back. And then order 810 levers when you see them on offer anywhere. That's I'd you don't like the zee lever. I personally do but I'm a beginner
-
Wiggle is selling the front set up 810 for £112
-
I want to get the bleed kit as want to thread front brake up through the forks. It's the rear hose that has a lot of extra hose. It's not in the way for now so I'll order a kit
-
Also need to shorten rear hose but haven't got a bleed kit yet so that will have to wait
-
Haven't been out on it yet, just stood on it in kitchen and held brakes. Lever is sift but bites well, haven't noticed any rock yet. Will try and get out in it later and then I can say more

Yes I saw that, apparently the saint is a bling version of the vee. I have just left my lbs with a nice new set of vee's so will put them on tomorrow and post pics. I've also bought some new vee discs as the ice tech feel very flimsy to me, I may be wrong but they're contaminated anyway and thought I'd try the vee discs to compare. Thanks everyone for input Zees, bloody auto correct on phone...
-
Also don't want second hand as don't know how they have been looked after, seals etc can't be bought for the shimanos
-
That wouldn't be bad, buying the zee and if needed could buy 810 levers at later date. Thanks
-
Thanks, I'll have a look at the zee tomorrow at my local shop
-
Good idea, where are you getting similar price on saint and vee calipers? I'm getting vee a lot cheaper. Is the vee lever no good?
-
I meant zee, I've heard they are harder to lock up compared to saints also hardly any adjustment. They are £100 a pair cheaper though but don't want to get if will regret not buying saints later on?
-
No it's slipping, been told slx isn't good for trials at all so thought should upgrade. Don't want to spend extra money on new pads etc if they're not a good enough brake to start
-
There's 180 ice tech on at the moment front and back, been told they will be good enough?
-
Hi, I've just bought a 2012 fourplay, it's got slx crank arms on hope bb and slx brakes. I'll upgrade crank arms later but I think brakes need doing asap. I can't decide between the saints or vee's, I can get a pair of vee's for £100 less than saints. Are saints worth the extra cash? Thanks if anyone can help
