Chris Akrigg Video - Please Dont Post Direct Links
matthewholdsworth replied to gateeight's topic in Videos
he takes a simple everyday thing like backwheeling a wall and then makes it so much cooler than i ever thought possible you know those people you ride with who spot lines you wouldnt have seen yourself, well akrigg spots lines those guys wouldnt see. legend -
wouldnt say a 160 rotor is under powered from my experience anyway. go for the mono trial it has a braided hose as standard which not only looks cool inreases the lever feel of the brake and gives it more bite (dont ask how) trial rotor has larger holes to reduce heat build up. mono m4 has long thin pads which can be a bitch to set up right, if the set up is wrong brake feels poor.

i ride by myself a lot, but i always ride the same places, i tend to practice moves over and over again, til im totally nakered and really cant be bothered with it any more. if i can do one line, i try and do it either the other way around or with different techniques. i dont go for big moves, its just too risky incase i screw up and hurt me self. set yourself a goal and try and achieve that, if you do great but you will soon realise if you in the mood for a ride or not, if your not go home and watch a dvd! if you stay out and ur not in the mood chances are ul fall off, and hurt yourself or your bike. major piece of advice, avoid chavs etc who can prove intensely annoying when you dont have other people to help you avoid their attention.

yeah, i used to ride with him years ago, he rode a black orange zero (with xtr v brakes if that helps). he gave up riding because of a serious back problem and sold his bike on. lives up lancashire way but has gone to uni, cant remember which one. sound guy though, but havent seen him in ages, would have been a good rider had he not had to quit. hope this helps

that first level reminds me of a horrible incident in a car park i had a few years ago :P
-
glorified gymnastics without the nice bouncy floor and padding all around incase you land on your head. this stuff is insane, i can land backflips and front flips etc into water, doing high diving course, may be tempted to attempt one onto grass/sand one day??? saw the vid ages ago, i got another one of some russian guys, now that was mental

personally, the echo (as with the hi-fi and control 05) is one of the nicest looking bikes ive seen. lovely finish and unique headtube design, looks amazing when paired with the team forks. it rides very nicely too, i usually ride 26inch so maybe u can ignore that comment. go for the team it will not disappoint u, the polished finish looks so nice. seen a few zonas in the "flesh" and they dont impress me. but hey thats only looks.
-
back to the topic, the echo control booster does look very sweet. i just bought the standard echo one (black anodised one) from tarty its not as big and looks very neat. improves the braking no end, cant believe i lasted a year with no booster at all

if its been sitting un used for a while in a shed itll probs need a bleed jsut to be sure! before this though, set it up properly it isnt just a matter of bolting the caliper on and riding, u need to spend a bit of time aligning the pads so the disc runs equi-distant from them. if it doesnt then your brake will be spongy (the brake will bend the rotor til it touches the other pad to work - hence poor lever feel). poor set up usually explains poor performance

that would be me, yeah ive got the cassette DVD, eddie's section is one of the best in the video. i ride a lot in skipton and have never seen chris out on his trials bike, only his bmx, and he rips the park up with ease. i did wonder after watching the second vid if they were listening to what i said lol, (if you were thats a big (Y) to nick varley) video 3 anyone???? (hint hint hint)

up to rail in the first few secs :D lovely stuff once again, cant say i would mind buying the DVD, save space on my hard drive if nothing else

they had actually sculpted a take off ramp and cleared the landing area, so much preparation went into that jump, they probably had more than one camera on it. and he fell off, gutted he fair bounces down the hill though jesus christ!

righty then, now they seem to be substitute goods if the demand for platinum shifts the demand curve outwards and so forces price up, this shift up in prie will be dependent on the demand and supply elasticities, the more inelastic the supply the greater the rise in price. as the price rises, suppliers of platinum are likely to increase production (providing they have spare capacity), and possibly more firms will enter the market seeing as though existing firms will be making supernormal (monopoly) profits due to rise in price. this shifts the supply curve out. this reduces price and profits and inefficient firms are forced out until the market is perfect again. (sort of) anyway that may seem a little off track, but....if the suppliers of palladium shift to supplying platinum, to take advantage of higher profits in this market then this will cause a shit inwards (left) of the supply curve in the market for palladium, this means an increase in price in that market. assuming the good is normal and not inferior (this should be obvious) then the increase in price will lead to a fall in demand, in reading your first post, because PED is inelastic, the demand curve will be steeply negatively sloped. thus the market will see a large rise in the price of the good while quantity demanded is going to fall proportionally less than price. and because of this, IN THE MEDIUM TERM (because as keynes says "in the long run we are all dead"), profits in the market for palladium will rise to be supernormal and firms will enter the market/increase supply and thus return the market to its origional equilibrium..............now this last bit is probably a bit beyond the question. it depends on the substitutibility of the goods as to whether the increase in demand for platinum, and subsequent price rise causes demand for the substitute good palladium to rise?. this will happen, but again will be more a medium term effect. i dont know how much of this makes sense or is relavent to your A Levels so if u need clarification or something let me know.

ok i cant show diagrams in post but as rob says if platinum goes into palladium then the increased cost fo this factor of production will mean that the supply curve for palladium shifts inward (left) and thus increases the price of palladium at all levels of supply and also, reduces consumer surplus (due to higher price) and increases producer surplus. also i dont know if u want to consider derived demand - the rise in demand for platinum may be as a result of increased demand for palladium. in terms of complementary im not sure thats true, complementary is like milk for tea, butter for bread. for 8 marks ul get 4 for a good diagram and 4 for explaining

ur best off speaking to waynio, he ran one on his ashton for a while, either email him or airevalley, should be able to tell u from expereince he is using a mono trial now though, if that gives u a hint at what to get

tis a very nicely editted vid! that red base is so shiney, u need some scratches on it lol. i havent seen your other vids so cant comment on improvements in riding. but there are some big ballsy hucks in that, mighyily close to the trees for my liking. shame the summer is over u guys look like u enjoy riding a LOT. that shin beating at 2.45 looks nasty, well done on making that gap, deserved to be nailed in the words of mr hawyes "that really f**kin' hurt...dont think your gettin away with that", nice one!

i was always under the impression they couldnt charge you to take bikes on trains. if you are on a virgin train they have 4 bike spaces for a train of about circa 200 people. i got on a train in sheffield going to leeds with 4 bmx lads so 5 bikes there, 2 bikes already on and people who decided that the bike area was for luggage, so as u can guess lots of bikes dumped there. 5 mins before wakefield the "train manager" (ha) comes down and asks for tickets, we all had one each, problems came when we couldnt show him cycle reservations. we explained that sheffields booking system wasnt working which it wasnt but he wasnt having any of it. started being really arsey with us and tried to make us pay half fare for our bikes! when we all said "ur having a laugh mate" he ranted "look u little t**ts stop f**king me around, you're getting off at wakefield" needless to say we tried not to get off at wakefield and reordered our bikes so that they werent in the way and leeds is only 10 mins down the line, still he threatened us with the police. so we got off and filled in complaints forms  aside from this i havent had any problems and ive taken my bike on trains pretty much across the country, just be nice if u havent got a reservation and yes AVOID BUSY VIRGIN TRAINS! finally lock your bike or stay with it some have been known to go walkabout.
-
your LBS probably has a shed load of them. if they stock hope they probs have a spares box. i would have been able to send u some had i gone home from uni this wkend ive got a fair few spare, but they are in barnoldswick and im in sheffield, so thats not much use to anyone!

same impressive riding as per usual. what did the guy say to james at the end? anything other than the standard "you're not meant to be doing that"
-
that section is so much worse when ur there, the run up isnt smooth, infact its totally nasty, and the up, well i consider it a sizeable drop off!! really cant wait for the full video to come out, wonder if akrigg will put some footage of him on his bmx in (for a bit of variety) because he is bloody amazing on that too!

very good watchable video, so much street style mike, there really is no practical use for spinning the bars round like that, but looks sweet as! looking forward to the next one
