Yeah tis gay. Ive pretty much given up on updating my 720. Only the QuickGPS fixes/updates seem to actually update. One thing I do do however is backup all the stuff on the TomTom whenever I connect it to the computer. Simple copy and paste into a 'tomtom backup' folder on my desktop. Saves anything bad happening if you happen to update something that tomtom itself doesn't life and refuses to boot up.

Yeah id like to know as well, Home always crashes, and wont load any updates. Shame theres so much crap to go with such a great device.

Nice bike Dan! Good one on getting the warehouse going! I can see a major possible health and safety problem - all that wood/cardboard (whatever it is) ontop of those two shelving units. Id hate to have that fall on me! With 110% due respect Joe, does it matter? I can't see how it does.

I went to College. Got A levels in Computing and Graphics with Materials Technology. Then went on to do a degree in BA(Hons)Digital Screen Arts where I branched out into video (as it was a multimedia course). Now im getting freelance filming jobs as a camera operator and/or production assistant, whilst doing the odd bit of editing for people. Hard work but fun and the money is great. Its sweet you've got a rough plan with what you want to do. I can personally foresee difficulties getting a decent job after travelling for so long without going to College, unless of course you do indeed do an apprenticeship of some kind, which wouldn't(?) be part time. You'll need a full-time job to save the money needed to travel dude. I for one know how hard it is to save enough money for trips. The trip im doing in the summer with a load of friends and old cars is gonna cost a lot, and its only going round France for 10 days! Imaging how much you'd need for the World! Ideally, if you can afford it, go to College and Uni (as Adam said, these really are the best years of your life) and then think about traveling/work - im sure you'll get a part-time job whilst at college + uni to tick yourself over etc. Dunno if this helps, just my advice from having been through the system. Oh also, concerning the money from the Will, I would put it in an ISA or something, save it, then just see if you do end up going round the World. The money will obviously be handy for the trip, but things change and you may end up needing to spend it on something else, so you may as well earn some interest on it

Hi dude. With the highest of due respect, I think you're wasting your time and probably hard earned cash on this project. If I were you just scrap it, and get something slightly more decent to restore. Sorry to piss on your parade. See ive never been impressed with HDD cameras, mainly because at the time of me being shown other people's cameras they were recording in low-q to get as much on the drive as poss. As far as im aware solid state is gonna be taking over slowly but surely. But yeah to answer your question def MiniDV for the time being. Good work on getting a job there dude! From the website it looks like an awesome place to work! If you can call it work, you probably have a wicked time haha! Yeah those recorders look expensive, worth it though imo. What sort of mini-cams were you using, im guessing far from the £130 jobbies you can get from Chain Reaction (Boyz Toyz section) - I have two, quality is ok, not superb though. I was thinking of buying a Z1 end of this month if funds allow, but I recon a V1 would be better, as it has things like synced timecode which would be incredibly useful if you're using any of the DSR series cameras on multi-cam shoots, so we'll have to see. Again dude, seriously awesome job! Bummed me out a bit if im honest, I havn't been riding, on a ride or filmed any Trials in months, sucks soooo much!
