  1. Hello, I recently bought myself a HD camera and am having trouble getting anything I've made down to a sensible size. I use adobe premiere and have been trying to export my edit as an .avi. The consequence of this is my film is squashed along the horizontal, presumably into the standard ration rather than 16:9. I export at 1440 * 1080 and use the HD settings. Could anybody, who uses HDV 1080i, describe to me the route they take in getting it from premiere to whatever compression/conversion software they use, if they use. I've been tearing out the proverbial hair of my head attempting to sort this. Thanks in advance. Ben
  2. So presumably nobody is going? The weather looks a bit temperamental but ok at the moment...
  3. Depending on the weather, I shall come out and get some filming practice in
  4. Good luck Spacemunkee, hope you get it sorted You could always blag illness or something (death of gran)?
  5. I reckon I'll be there this year. It's been a while but the last one I went to was mint
  6. Thanks chaps. Sorted
  7. I'm having difficulty finding the answer through searching this forum, so the question is, what 8spd chain to people consider to be the strongest? I saw mentioned an 8spd KMC kool chain but I can't specifically find one of those anywhere? I need help please
  8. The question is, "Who will actually turn up in the end!?"
  9. That was some impressive snow riding that you definitely wouldn't catch me doing!
  10. I'll be out around 12 tomorrow. Probably catch you all in the standard occupancy that is castle park
  11. Totally fine, and the fixed wheel took the rides pounding. I owe you a bottle of drink and a chocy bar
  12. I'm there! Spokes sorted thanks to Mr. Eskimo
  13. I guess ill be out with me camera seeing as I have a broken wheel. Rowan please remember my tripod piece!
  14. You seemed to suggest that this film was going to be on the tame side? Anything but - great stuff.
  15. That would be superb if you did nick - around 236mm, possibly 238 though. That would save me a trip to Swindon at the weekend and missing out on the ride here in Bristol
  16. I will try but i snapped three spokes the other day and the spares are in Swindon. The trouble of 24" is apparent.
  17. Is this ride happening today (thursday)? I'd like to ride!
  18. Bristol open day was really good and now I have the dilemma of choosing between two universities, unless of course they reject me. Anyone know of ranking systems besides the guardian and the times - something a bit more "official" than two newspapers? Anyone been to or go to UCL that could tell me of their experiences, especially for the biosciences?
  19. If it's the 24th, I'll probably be out to ride. Can't make the 23rd as I'm in Swindon
  20. Offers for Neuroscience from Leeds, Sheffield and University College London so far. I have an open day for Bristol University tomorrow and an interview for Sussex in April but I think I will accept the offer from UCL. Really excited about the prospect of university
  21. I'm very impressed with mine and prefer it to my previous ashton 24". I feel a lot more confident doing spins, bunnyhops and manuals. Like Alan says though, get some high rise bars. I'm using gusset open prison 3" risers and they work really well - also recommended. There's no problem with tires - I run DMR motos and I love them. Very fast rolling and ideal for streety especially of the spin variety. Highly recommended!
  22. Try sanding the pad down slightly.
  23. Smooth riding and great moves. Digging the riding in and out parts are the beginning and end as well. Make another one basically!
  24. Great riding and a very clean edit - very pro. However, what's up with the colour distortion in the corners? Presumably this relates to your wide angled lense, but why?
  25. That's a fair point Mark. I wasn't very lucid there - in fact I contradicted myself. Please accept my excuses of a head cold and codeine withdrawal Hopefully though I've been a bit clearer in the post I just made. What I meant was freedom from the concepts of right and wrong, of the type that motivate us to judge and dislike/hate one another. Dropping these morals, or concepts, allows us to consider the situation how it is. We find a freedom from the negative emotions that are deeply ingrained with those ideas. Guiding principles are just ideas that we can use to help us decide in a situation, of what might make people happier. They don't carry the either/or absolute attitude of right and wrong. However, I do think there is an awareness that informs us of a 'deepness' to reality that arises when and if we can, drop all concepts. Concepts typically shroud our perceptions as we constantly get them confused with the things they represent. With regards to "scorning", I don't entirely understand what you mean but I'll try and redefine the point. My point was an individual who realises a reality with no right and wrong doesn't scorn because he has no reason. Thus, he doesn't become loaded with dislike or hate. Minus these qualities there is more room for positive qualities which allow him to better interact and contribute to those things that, I am assuming we generally find desirable. I prefer it when somebody doesn't hate me... I see that as a contribution, to a more desirable society, which is probably what I should have said rather than "help". There's no assumption of being a 'better' person, just more able in the sense of certain emotions are less likely to interfere with certain actions. Finally, with regards to my emphasis on morals as "constructs" (am I detecting some animosity here?). The point is that I think we forget that fact. I have pointed this out (I think) on several occasions. The idea of morals existing outside of is an example. An additional example is people that think a piece of music is rubbish. Something is not rubbish, you think it is rubbish. You are describing your sensations of that music, rather than a quality in the thing itself. People have lost the distinction between the symbol and thing it symbolizes. This causes a lot of confusion, stress and suffering. I'm fascinated by it and I like to discuss it. It's also my preference that people get reminded. I'm not telling you to think the same way as me though. Please, do what you like. I adopt somewhat of a hindu philosophy alongside my ideas of 'attempting' at getting to the root of understanding. That former philosophy is that we're the godhead, but we're bored of being omnipotent, omniscient, etc. so we've deliberately confused ourselves - we're playing a game. The godheads that most confuse themselves are to be given the most respect - they are really going for it! I bow down to conceptual confusion, although I always put forward an alternative way of dealing with it. Can't be bothered to check this so apologies for any incoherrence. I can;t imagine my being able to sleep now for the next 4-5 hours
