Do what you will enjoy the most aside from how others view you. f**k everybody elses pretensions on the matter.

But what did they give sacrifice for? That's the point I'm getting at. I'm not denying that those who fought in the second world war did not do so for good reasons. I am however suggesting that modern warfare is a different kettle of fish with regards to intent and meaning. If I flip the circumstances slightly you should get my drift. Imagine a rememberance day by muslim extremists for their "fallen" (nice euphamism there); specifically those who have died in terrorist acts. How might people react to that? I can imagine many Brits taking a far more extreme approach than what actually occured at this rememberance day. Again, I'll emphasise, this isn't to say that all those who are referenced by our rememberance day are on par with terrorists but that servicemen and women of more modern times, no doubt mostly through ignorance, are fulfilling what honestly should be termed as "state terror". This is very serious and shares a definite relationship to extremist terror. If our motives, with regard to Iraq are aside from those claimed such as "liberation" and "pre-emptive strike" then something very sinister is happening and in terms of actual overall harm, we've greatly outdone all of the atrocity we so easily hate the other terrorists for. And to make sure this implict point isn't missed it should be noted that rememberance day is actually a diservice to the men and women who have lost their lives fighting unjust wars because it maintains the lie of what they were really fighting for. It masks the true waste of their lives which were lost for such insidious reasons. My bad there. I went back and checked what you said and I did misinterpret what you meant. Does Britian feed me as well? I certainly don't feel that's the case. I feel that there's more of a reciprical relationship. And anyway, what is Britian in this sense you mean? I'm not sure I find your argument to have much sense here. What I'm finding implicit however is the suggestion that muslims should be assumed to be recent immigrants probably claiming benefits? I think it's worth people being respectful to one another just because it's healthy not because there's some financial relationship.

I have to disagree with you here despite my agreement at the fair degree of folly the Muslims had in their approach to protesting. There is a valid point to a kind of protest with regard to rememberance day though. This is in the sense that it's used to to romanticise the always noble actions of service men and women. What follows from doing so is the logical deduction that anything our service men and women are engaged in can only be of the same noble nature - the thinking then continues that if our service people are so great it's not possible that they could be involved in state terror and thus our state can only act in line with these qualities. Otherwise it's like trying to get Ghandi to rob a bank, in a sense. If you hold the view that opposes this, that they are often an extension for the imperialistic wants of our government, then this form of propaganda is worth indicating because what is revealed by doing so is far more important than rememberance day in the sense that people will continue to die for very bad reasons. Also denying protesting in general is very dangerous. Unless it can be shown that there is a very real risk of violence the curtailing the right to protest denies a very important, and unforunately much underused at present, democratic process. We have to put up with the religious fools of this sort in order to protect that process because it's more important than inhibiting the offence which they cause. Finally I'm unsure of your "hand that feeds them" statement. If these individuals are working like anybody else and are citizens they have a right to criticise the state of things just like everybody else. This is something which is very important for us to do but we're all usually too busy enjoying pleasures to do much about anything that considers or even helps other people.

I'd say you hold an overly romantic (ignorant) notion of Britian and "what it does". What we actually do is go to other countries and decimate them (Iraq for example?) for, ultimately, our gain. These have often been muslim countries. Sadam was once our ally, even when he was doing the bad things which we later used to justify invading him for. It was only when he wouldn't tow the line in a sense that impacted on economic benefit. We used to supply weapons to both Iran and Iraq in their war. We helped overthrow a democratically elected and relatively benign Iran leader (I think in the 60s) and install an extremely harsh dictator. The there's the UN security sanctions of Iraq from '92 - '98 which killed, I think either 0.5 - 1 million children. Britian supported these sanctions which stopped basic supplies such as medicene and food going to Iraq. This of course was after we destroyed their infrastructure (hospitals, schools, water facilities, power stations, and so on) in the first Iraq invasion. The list goes and it constitutes a great irony with our "war on terror" in the sense that we are a terrorist state. Lots of people have a great deal of cause to be angry with us. And I mean all of us who support the actions of our state through the lazy and selfish ignorance and/or inaction to stop what's happening.

The trouble is that there is good reason for protesting against the kind of propaganda that rememberance day serves - although there are obviously better and worse ways of going about it. This is not entirely true but certainly in part and specifically with regard to warfare (clandestine and overt) since the second world war. There are really two differing histories on military action since then. One of them holds that our actions and motivations are benign, almost heroic and noble and the other suggests a much more malign intent that's based on, as mentioned, imperialism. What latter means is that military action is used for national gain through the exploitation of other nations. I'm not motivated enough to give examples because if people are really interested in looking at alternative views of our nation and what's done in our name there are many online sources and books which will inform you. The standard procedure though is, of course, to just adopt what exists in mainstream discourse. It's a shame because wisdom and truth mostly seems to come from the sidelines.

Associating the act of a minority of the muslim community with immigration fails on so many levels. Might be worth thinking out your feelings a bit more before you let them guide you into statements of nonsense. I should add that those muslim protesters are also numpties regardless of the degree of truth with which Britian is imperialistic - something I agree with.

I couldn't find the ride to the hills section which was probably my favourite leech riding.
-
That's how he used to be though and that was the point at which he was one of my favourite riders. He realised though that he prefered the approach that wasn't so bmx orientated. I know I would prefer to see him progress in the old style he used to have but you've got to give the man props for just following his own way; the one that makes sense to him. Ryan, as far as I can tell, seems to be happy without even progressing his riding. I say furry muff although I don't really appreciate the stance.

I think people are riding on Saturday. Rowan and Joe mentioned they might. I'm pretty sure I will be now.

Very good riding, song selection and editing. I especially liked the brakeless front wheel 270 on the flat bank. Some of the more novel approaches to riding don't entirely float my boat. That's in terms of enjoying them in the same way as I do his other riding. In a "not taking things too seriously" sense however it's amusing and kind've interesting. Reminds me of the stuff Berridge used to do actually. What was the music?

Nothing that should mean what im feeling. I'm feeling bit better now though. Weather is mint.
-
I've woken up feeling dizzy and nauseous. I'm going to try my best to make it as I'm desperate to ride but this isnt really a state in which i can ride. Argh.
-
That's a trippy circle you just made there. I've used it about 10 times now.

fjkrykyrukyukyukgyukhjkghkgghkghkghkghkhjgkjhthere you go.

I'm definitely there for this ride

You said that last week and you never came... Anyway, I may be out. It really depends on how much work I manage to complete today.

Hey mate, sorry for the late response but I've only just noticed this. I'm not available this Friday because I have to spend the day in the library attempting to catch up with all the work I've recently missed at uni. Usually I'd be available though as it's my day off. I am however intending to go out at the weekend depending on how I manage the aforementioned catching up. My number is 07796 563 952 If you message me I can message you back about where we will be, what time, etc. That is, of course, if you are able to make it. Anyhow, I look forward to meeting you and hopefully giving you a hand at learning stuff

I'll be 38 and I imagine three different scenarios. Working in a university as a lecturer teaching philosophy and/or Buddhism. Meditating in a monastry or something similar. Probably following a Buddhist teaching. Dead via a dangerous hobby I've taken up because the first two plans failed.

My feeling on the matter of a best song is an unwillingness to narrow my appreciation down quite to that extent. And even the three which I'm going state seems unfair. However, these three tunes have probably resonated with me the most. Tim Buckley - Once I was Clint Mansell - The Fountain Nick Drake - Riverman

Cheers for comments. I've got a multitude of ideas and a completed video rattling around in my head. Really excited about getting the camera tomorrow and starting to do the lines that really require a push. Annoyingly that stiffy rim only comes in a 32h (I think you might have mentioned that before) so I may have to endure a battered rim for a while yet until the next student loan and new rear hub 203cm and my torso is only about 25cm. My legs have blantly saved me in situations where almost anyone else would have perished (in some sense). Both you two need to get more vids done so I feel even more motivated about doing my own shizzle.

Very very very good all round I'm starting to change my attitude toward the existence of the approach to street that I thought wasn't really happening all that much.
-
Awesome stuff there, very motivating. I felt the editing definitely had some merit but wasn't exactly my cup of tea.

I'll be about on saturday, for some of the day, providing the weather is okay and I'm happy to show you around Just let me know what time, where, etc.

I just ordered my dslr so thought I would discard of my last clips from the DV camera. This vid should have been longer but unfortunately I broke two spokes whilst out riding today
