Awesome stuff Euan. I definitely think the move to 24" was a good one. You've got great skills and style. I've watched this about 10 times already You should make your way upto Bristol some time. The Bristol riding would definitely suit your approach to things. I need to get back to Portsmouth though as well.

Overall that was top stuff. I can definitely see that your editing is improving, Mark. I'm picking up on a greater correlation of auditory and visual - something I hold to be one of the cornerstones of a good vid. Also just the general intuitive feel is improving. I have to admit that the absolute use of black and white doesn't do it for me. Some shots with it are awesome but overall it kinda removes a sort of life from everything. To be fair though, this is the UK and I suspect that, even with colour, our constant grey sky would amount to much the same. I can definitely relate to your artistic choice to choose b+w though. It certainly goes with the style of "Clean". In terms of framing I thought all of the shots were awesome and especially some of the contextual shots. I'm not overly keen on the amount that a wide angle was used. My philosophy with this has always been that, for trials, the loss of perspective when height or distance play an important role in the move is to be avoided. But then this is always a choice of balance between artistic value and the value of showing it how it is. Artistic value in the sense that the wide angle makes everything look kind've awesome Basically I think the production value is really good but I thought you might be up for some subjective-constructive criticism, Mark Ali's riding was of course amazing. He brings new meaning to the idea of flow on a bike. Everyone was awesome if their own way as well. Not so keen on my own riding of course edit: oh yeah, forgot to add that I thought the type writer intro was awesome. Very tidy. edit 2: Having watched the downloaded version and experienced higher quality I feel better about the b+w
  3. That was exactly the sort of thing I was after. Thank you very much, Matt. I'm hoping though that I don't have tendinosis because if I do that means I will almost certainly need many months off of riding most other sports. If I do have it though this artical has made me feel more confident about the method of dealing with it. Funnily enough, my doctor gave me the recovery time of tendinosis with the diagnosis of tendinitis. I actually spoke to my ex today, who's a physio, and she thinks that my symptoms are more likely to be tendinitis which is a f**king relief; to be perfectly honest. Although I possibly shouldn't get my hopes up too much just yet in case she ends up being wrong... Matt, you should try to find out if you're actually suffering from tendinosis which is what chronic tennis elbow usually tends to be. It's something you have to be very careful about and which changes your treatment if you have it. Treating either tendinitis or tendinosis as the other can cause more harm than good... For instance, nsaid's like ibuprofen restricts blood flow and one of the probelems with tendinosis healing is already a problem of blood flow. The symptoms are very similar though. Apparantly it's common for doctors to misdiagnose it because it's a more recent understanding that hasn't been caught up with yet. Check out tendinosis.org Thanks for replying and I'll get back to your FB message soon Whatever works eh? I'm hoping that anti-inflammatories are what I'm after though otherwise I'm gonng be off the bike for some time. Sorry I haven't replied in your vid thread yet. Watched it this morning then just felt totally gutted I couldn't ride
  4. Probably the best fix for not riding
  5. Hello, I just watched and, now annoyingly, enjoyed the new Clean vid and it's caused me to feel pretty shitty because of an injury that's currently stopping me from riding. So I'd like to call on the mighty wisdom of trials-forum with regard to knowledge and/or experience about 'tennis elbow'. I've spent hours now reading up on this injury and there is often contradictory ideas about treatment. I have tried exercises and stretches and these often just cause more pain. The pain itself is not so much of a problem - I'd give it a 3/10 - but I'm concerned ignoring this pain and continuing to, say, ride could make it considerably worse and even permanent in some sense. Basically I'm considering risking it and want to know if other people have done this and had it go away anyway or, at least, not had it get any worse. It'd good be good to know about the specific effect of trials riding on it. I would really like to ride through the summer and have the winter off rather than vice versa. I'm not up for riding two winters in a row without an intervening summer. The winter just gone was hard enough to maintain. I'm also interested in knowing what were people's methods of recovery. Any 'quick' fixes? Thanks in advance.
  6. Has it all just randomly started working now or did you figure something out? Not to selfishly ignore your current creative suffering but what's the eta for your first vid then?
  7. It's so incredibly pointless arguing about our own language constructs particularly when they are such general terms. The word "trials" doesn't describe some trials reality out there; it just reflects certain goings on that we can choose to highlight or not as constituting its meaning. dave33, you're just making up a set of subjective rules and then projecting them out into the world as though you found them there. The value with which you judge other peoples style of riding is your own and therefore relative and only right for you. Basically, you're not describing reality as it is yet you seem to think you are...
  8. If you were to view the original you'd appreciate how much of a quality drop was involved. Anyway, thanks for comments thus far. Dave's bike is a leeson, inspired bars, street forks of some kind and some other stuff I'm not sure of. edit: my bad; you mean actually viewing on vimeo and you're right; it's much better.
  9. Enjoyed editing this one. Filmed and edited yesterday. Was a glorious day of weather. Rider is Dave Wells. edit: argh, vimeo seems to rape quality even more than youtube. Really worth downloading and watching in terms of quality.
  10. Good riding and great style. As said, more please
  11. I'm one of those people that doesn't reply. Just because I have a phone and access to the internet doesn't mean I'm going to be a slave to those things and other people's view that they have immediate contact with me. I prefer to be able to disconnect from that stream of information, in one sense, because it's healthy to be able to do so. Thus, some days, I don't even look at my phone until the next day when I'm feeling more in the mood to deal with it. I don't get bothered with not getting a response from other people. Pretty much all my riding buds here in Bristol often don't respond if they're not up for a ride.

.mp4 is only really the wrapper within which the h.264 codec is contained. Another wrapper for h.264 is .mov (which I use) and .flv; and there are probably others. You're obviously going to get some loss of colour and sharpness because you're throwing away some data to reduce the size of the end product. What sort of bitrate are you using? I usually aim for 10,000+ seeing as everyone has broadband these days. I'm struggling with h.264 at the moment because it creates excessive motion blur. I need to get on the case of resolving that.

Self deprecating music for the unpretentious win. That was definitely your best edit yet. You made the visual intuitively and appropriately match with the auditory. And there was a good use of context. The riding was obviously very good as well. What codec are you using? It looks a bit washed out like it might be .wmv although that might just be the dull weather you were obviously experiencing. Anyhow, more, init.
  14. Another cool update I really appreciate the emphasis on the events contextualising the 'fulfilled' riding, so to speak. I've been very guilty of ignoring it in terms of media production but it's good to see even when standing alone. You may end up influencing my video making methinks.
  15. Very awesome looking. Certainly a step up from that bike I saw you riding in London... How does it ride?
  16. Good stuff, Tom. You might want to consider cutting the individual clips down a bit though to remove moments where unimportant stuff is happening like the camera moving toward the ground or somebody preparing to do a line for a few seconds before they actually begin. Keep at it though
  17. Yooo, Check out this vid. 'tis a couple of individuals from around my way. Not their best stuff but I think it's really good none the less.
  18. All in all, pretty good. I think on some shots there was a fair bit of wasted space, so to speak, and in relation to that some closer shots were lacking but the filming was mostly good with some really nice shots. What camera are you using, Craig? Besides that, good tunage and clean edit. Riding was, obviously, good. More please
  19. Both these sections were awesome but that intro was brilliant. Had me laughing. That's the kind of intro I'd like to see more of. Much better than your bog standard intro with city landscapes, etc. although that sort of contextualisation is still good and makes sense.
  20. Awesomely big 360 drop and wallride. Great style as well. Dudes the man. Generally nice production value as well although I didn't think the music worked particularly well.
  21. Outdone by my own tyres eh.
  22. Yeah, standard problem that; trying to find the words that do me justice. Jokes Masterful, Ali.
  23. Awesome photos, Mark. Keep 'um coming. Can't wait for your next update if it is what I think it is
