  1. I have a work visa for a year in Canada and would like to have my bike posted out. What's the cheapest way to do this?
  2. Absolutely loved the video. Both the street/ park and the trials (am I the only one that wants to see you on a street trials bike?). I wish I saved it for a time I could have the sound on because I love a bit of J5!
  3. I think comments along the lines of "killing animals has always been brutal why change" and, as above, "lions etc tear their prey to pieces", kind of miss the point. I studied history at Uni and did a module on Islam. In that i learned that the Halal method was partly introduced to cause as little pain as possible to the animal being slaughtered. Obviously technology has progressed (while religion has only stagnated) so that we now have the ability to slaughter animals in a way that causes them less pain than the traditional Halal method (without stunning), or indeed a lion tearing it's prey to pieces, and many people would like the option of eating meat from animals killed with the least distress possible. In most of Europe it is illegal to slaughter animals on mass for the production of meat without first stunning them. I would rather this were the case in the UK but failing that i don't think it is unreasonable that meat from non stunned animals should be labelled as such. I also can't see the problem with Halal meat from animals that were stunned and unconscious when their throat was slit, and i'm pretty sure that all the supermarkets have said that this was the case with their Halal meat, so to an extent i think this is a bit of scaremongering. It's also a shame to see comments along the lines of "why should they come here and get their way", it's xenophobic at best, if not outright racist. I'm all for increasing religious freedom and multiculturalism up to the point where doing so infringes on the rights of others, and i think that is the case IF people are unknowingly eating meat from unstunned animals. I've only read through half of this thread so i don't know if it's been mentioned but Sikhs cannot eat Halal meat yet many have unknowingly been doing so. But of course as a much smaller minority they haven't really been catered to.
  4. I had a spell of this after spending most of my time at home alone while recovering from surgery. In the short term I think reading the news while at work will help. A couple of sites/ papers aimed at different audiences would be good like the sun and telegraph for example. It will keep you connected to the outside world and give you a decent mix of stupid but banter worthy stories to share as well as some info to start a decent thought provoking conversation. This helped me, particularly as I don't follow football, celeb gossip, TV programmes, pop music ect that are often topics of small talk.
  5. I joined the forum last summer but have only really used it for watching videos as for most of the time since I've been recovering from shoulder surgery. I'm now at the point where I can start to ride again (while still taking it easy) so I'm wondering if any of you guys live locally. Until 5-6 years ago I used to see a few people riding the town center but I never come across them any more.
  6. I think I've got just what you need! Admittedly it's got a 24/7 suicide set not dark angel and DJ3s not dmr forks but with the 48h halo sas rims and dh tubes its close enough eh? I actually learned to ride street/ trials on it about 6-8 years ago. The other day I got off my fourplay onto this, tried a 180, and fell off when the rear wheel didn't leave the ground.
  7. I have a friend who bought a generic disc hose from a lbs for his magura. Despite repeated bleeding it feels terrible and has barely any power.
  8. Thanks Ross that's some good advice, I'm leaving to get them now fingers crossed
  9. I'll try and make sure the seals are all ok althought I don't know how obvious this will be without mounting them. These are from pink bike too, the guys says the seals are all fine and he's only selling them because he's bought the 820s. If the calliper seal had gone is it a big issue like the lever one?
  10. I'm buying some m810 saints second hand later, is there anything particular I should look out for? Edit: I'm now the proud owner of a pair of m810 saints. They were £160 including ice tech rotors and mounts so from the little research i've done i think that was a good deal. I got them from pinkbike and the guy wanted to meet in a neutral place so I was a bit worried they might be dodgey. I popped the rotor in each and gave the lever a squeeze and everything feels fine so hopefully I won't have any problems.
  11. If anyone needs a quick whip fix then take a look at the Ozoneys video but personally I found this more enjoyable to watch because style and variation are prioritised over pulling off lots of whips. I really liked the (I don't know exactly what to call them) foot jam spins. I've never seem them before but maybe that's because I rarely watch bmx videos.
  12. I know lots of people that have gone and all have said its awesome. Alcohol is very expensive and you're not supposed to bring it in so pack a sly bottle of spirit. One friend went VIP (Very Important Person). You get better toilets and another music tent which he didn't rate. He thought the main difference was that there were sniffer dogs checking those going in the normal enterance but VIP ticket holders could bring in all the drugs they wanted.
  13. This is the nicest 26" street bike I've seen!
  14. Lean back more and feather the brake to stop you going off the back. Getting comfortable with falling off the back should help you lean back more. Although saying that my problem is being over reliant on feathering the brake, i can manual fine down a big hill but on a straight i'll come to a stop from using the brake. Anyway i wouldn't worry about that yet.
  15. Have you ridden trials bikes before? It would be good if you could try a couple of different wheels sizes before buying one. I know there are tall riders who get on fine with mods but i'm 6ft2 and the few that i've ridden have always felt too small. On the other hand the first time i got on a 24" i loved it.
  16. I just looked at the pictures of the zoot before it was sold and the bars are tilted forward quite a lot. I'm assuming you're running the same bar angle. Tilting them back should make a big difference. The geometry of trials bikes means that you will feel that your feet are high and weight more towards the front in comparison to mountain bikes. Believe it or not the Zoot has a relatively low bottom bracket and isn't particularly long (in comparison to other trials bikes) so you will get used to it.
  17. Unless you are particularly uncomfortable and cramped on your mod then no. It's just a case of learning to balance your weight and bring the front down more gently.
  18. I watched a video you posted here a while ago and you didn't look very comfortable on the back wheel. You looked like you were trying to do each drop/ gap as quickly as possible to prevent the front from dropping. I used to be exactly the same and one of my friends who is newer to trials still is. Try practicing your balance on the back wheel. Practice pausing slightly between hops on the back wheel and gently lowering the front wheel by shifting your weight back. You can do this on the flat but the same technique comes in when doing pedal ups and drops. It will come with practice.
  19. Doesn't the Skye pro come with Avid Elixir 5s? A small error but worth pointing out as it's one of the bikes being considered in this thread.
  20. This is a gold mine for recent videos. http://www.biketrials.tv/en/top100
  21. I've been a bit evasive about it's specific purpose. I didn't want to give a full lowdown on what we're doing and make it available to the world via google search as it's something to solve a specific problem for a customer who would be looking to patent it if it works out. If anyone's interested enough to want to know more they can pm me.
  22. It doesn't. It could be any off the shelf device that is easy to put on/ take off and reliably transmits signs of life (to prove it's being worn) via bluetooth / radio waves. Nothing else seemed to fit.
  23. I work at a small electronics company and we are developing a product that detects whether a person is present in a specific area. We are looking to use an off the shelf heart rate monitor that transmits to a piece of our equipment. Putting a chest strap on in a work environment isn't really practical.
