I still stand by me previous spec, its £50 under your budget but you need to factor a case into the equation, so a nice well built one of those should cost you around £50. As for the A64, make sure whatever speed you end up going for you go for a Venice core rather than a winchester as they overclock much better and have a better memory controller. RAM wouldn't really be as much of an issue with the A64's for overclocking as it can be run on a divider with minimal hit in performance due to the on chip memory controller. Obviously running the RAM at the same fab as the cpu is desirable to increase RAM bandwidth, however overclocking RAM often costs quite a lot. Monkey, if you already have a gig of PC3200 RAM do you really need another gig? If not it may be better to sell your existing stuff and get some overclocking RAM such as the Geil ONE and get a better overclocking motherboard such as the DFI LANParty Ultra NF4. As it is, unless you make the jump up to a 7800GT graphics card, you won't get much better performance than a flashed Sapphire X800 GTO2 as they are based on the same core as the X850 XTPE and so can be flashed to the same pipe configuration and/or overclocked up to very good performance levels.

I'm with natwest for my student account and also have an ISA with them, they seem pretty good, nice big overdraft and are pretty good at correcting their mistakes. Anything they have sent to me through the post has come pretty promtply, when i opened an ISA with the a few months back i got all the paperwork through within a week of walking into the branch and filling out the paperwork.

heres a quick one i knocked up, its a little over budget and you would need a case (anything cheap would do as i have specced a decent psu anyway) theres no opticle drive in there but you could downgrade the gfx a little to factor in a dvd writer fairly easily, the thing with that graphics card is that it can be unlocked to run at the speed of an X850XTPE which is one killer card.

Quality vid, Love your style Stan, tis always awesome to watch. Nicely put together vid too (Y)

a few more details as to what you are trying to do would help!!

wohooooooooo i just plain didn't use my bashguard throughout the entire series this year (well ok i might have hit it once or twice) so it should suit me nicely (Y) I wasn't at the last round, who is the new organiser going to be?

Utterly discusted. Thats a farce, let out to improve chances of resettlement, personally i think he should be forced to live in the community he has wronged for a few years to face what he has done, not just sit in a prison. While i usually don't condone violence i think he deserves anything that happens to him.

having just downloaded a load of hd vids off the microsoft site i would say its defo worth making a vid in high def, then compressing it down (if poss) to the usual size, i think the ability to see every detail in a move can really add to the feel of a vid, specially technical stuff. Even if the vid is 300MB i would still download it. I guess you would then be limited by hosting.
-
I'm sorry but thats one poorly designed site, yes using flash is nice and means you can get some funky effects, but the lack of ability to save the vids to file is a looser in my opinion.

thats not strictly true, my current xp pro installation is about 2 years old and is still going strong. It's a little slower than it could be but meh. I need to do a format, install all the progs i want then make an image so i don't have to bother re-installing everything every time, thats the main hassle. Might have to give that a go this week (Y)

i always use www.mx2.com they delivery relatively quickly and are cheap.

i'd say that until we are being limited by the present crop of cameras (not the file size) then its not worth it. As has been said, its not like were seeing videos being put on the net at full resolution and quality as it is, so there would be little call for it initially. However, faster connections are springing up in more and more places round the country so it can only be a matter of time before file sizes begin to creep up and we begin to be limited by shooting resolution. Personally i would like to see two versions of videos available now, one at full resolution and quality for download by those with fast connections and another for those on slower connections. I remember when this was the "norm" a couple of years ago when broadband was emerging, but 56K was still the norm. What sort of file sizes are we talking about for an HD video or say a typical bike vid length of approx 4 mins?

ive used my set of lite guys for about 18 months, having bought them second hand, ive not had any problems so far although they are starting to worry me a little and i havent got the confidence in them to get a very good front disc for fear of ripping them in half. I'm planning on upgrading soon anyway. I'm a fairly light rider fork wise, and dont really give them a massive thrashing.

i have two pairs, one for everyday wearing and another for trials use. They are damn comfy for everyday use and trials and seem to grip well on both my VP's and pinned pedals. The extra cushioning in the heel helps quite a lot during bails stopping your jarring your body as much etc. The back is a little higher than usual which seems to help ankle stability too. The quality of construction seems to be as good as my previous pairs of vans, and duffs. All in all i'd say they are pretty damn good kit for the money. Sam@southtrials, if you don't have anything valuable in input (i.e, you havent used, or probably even seen a pair in the flesh) then please feel free not to reply to the thread, theres no law that says you have to reply to absolutely ever thread that gets posted up on here. Half baked, or stupid comments from people like you who have absolutely no idea about a product really aren't useful at all and generally just end up causing arguments.

I'm gonna give it a miss, rode shockingly last time and am going to watch bowling for soup on sat night so will be in no fit state to ride anything

awesome vid there Bongo, took me a few watches to see everything that was being put down, sick stuff, great editing (as usual) and a decent tune definately a keeper there.

thats pure genius, well done to the lad!!! as im sure most people are saying, i wish i had thought of that!!!

i used to always ride in glasses, then got new ones which are considerably smaller and now cant ride very well in the due to not being able to see enough area out of them, so have switched to riding in contacts all the time. ive not had any problems riding in contacts, and find it easier as they dont move about at all and give you a much better field of vision.

someones been tightening up there stem bolts massively havent they mr prawn (Y) seriously, looks to me like its failed on the weld at the bottom, then cracked straight underneath when pressures been put on it, quite an interesting failure, would be good to see a couple of pics with it off the bike to see what the area by the steerer tube looks like.

the mod booster will be a 4 bolt design similar to the stock version, however it will have a little extra clearance for the larger mod rear tyres. As Steve doesn't want to have any problems with clearance and compatability he is doing the same level of research as he did with the stock boosters, and so it may take a while but when he releases it it will be a sorted design. Be patient, it will definately be worth the wait.

Just thought i'd add my 2p worth to this thread. I got my booster on monday, but only got out to ride it today. First test was some nice slippy natural where my brake had been slipping (heatsink blues with an old style mag and medium grind). To my delight i was able to ride all afternoon without a sign of brake slip in sight, did quite a few boon fests up sloped rocks which would previously have resulted in brake slip, but nothing this time, just pure unbridled locking goodness. So that seems to have solved my rear brake slipping problems on my rex. The stiffness is excellent, even though it looks like it has had massive amounts of material removed which is mightily impressive. I'm not a weight weenie and so didnt get the scales out, but suffice to say it didn't feel heavy in the slightest when i was fitting it. Fitment was simple, straightforward and easy with no interference or difficulties setting up the brake. Now onto the booster itself, the quality is immediately noticeable the minute you get it out the plastic wrapper, the finish is smooth and consistent with all corners rounded to stop ankle killing incidents. The anodising is very nice and even in colour and should prevent any oxidisation meaning it should keep its good looks for the forseable future. All in all a quality product thats been well thought out and well made, and sold for a price which is unrivalled for the quality and research on show. A big healthy thumbs up from me (Y)

ive been running them for 3 years now, had a 120 sus (non disc) for about 18 months, and now have the 140 disc hub, which has taken 18 months of punishment without a hitch. I'd say for the weight and money they are the best front hubs about for trials. I certainly don't see mine throwing in the towl any time soon.

the best source of information about specialist subjects are journal articles, they are usualy only available if you or your uni/college pay a subscrition, but you can usually read the abstract to get a good idea of what its all about.
