    My New Bike

Auto-Mod Please use the bike pic thread, all the info you need is in the first post.
  5. To be honest on a mod i wouldn't worry too much about loosing weight, and be more concerned with maximising strength. To this end, I'd recommend either the new echo rims, or Onza Ronnies. As said above definately steer clear of the try-all rims, they have reputation for being pretty weak, with the sidewalls having the tendancy to dent very very easily compared to the rims mentioned above.
  6. In a word, NO Read below Validating works as a screen to prevent the main board from becoming a mess of text talk and rubbish like the MBUK forums. To get validated, it's not necessary to have any trials knowledge what so ever, just put some effort into typing your posts correctly, and put some thought into their content. Validation then depends on either a moderator or member of admin noticing these posts and validating you. There is no set time, or number of posts you have to gain before you can be validated, some people have been validated after a metter of minutes and only a handful of posts whilst other have been in here for months nearly years and have hundreds of posts, yet they still can't seem to type properly and feel it is necessary to reply to every topic whether they are adding and useful content or plain just replying with one word or line. Want to get validated quickly, start a topic that is going to provoke some discussion (I said discussion not argument) and reply with your opinions and thoughts (everyone has an opinion on things, all of which are just as valid as yours so no-one will necessarily be right or wrong) to this and other topics and you'll be sure to get noticed and validated. Finally, the moderators have just got back the power to validate people after the migration to the latest forum software so the numbers of people being validated should increase, reducing the time for decent members to get onto the main board. Hope that adds some insight and helps you find your way onto the main board as quickly as possible. Andy
  7. cheers that would be great, if you find out whether or not its available first, well cross the getting it to the uk bridge when we get to it.
  8. Right looking for donations of old less than 1 litre cars no longer needed. If you know anyone with one give me a shout over PM, there will be advertising space for anyone who has a business too, so if your parents business donate a car that is used then you'll get a nice banner advert on it. Additionally, if anyone knows of any business that wants to sponsor us we need to raise £2000 to be able to compete. All sponsors will get advertising space on the car as well as publicity on the website we will shortly be setting up, and also airing in the video of the event that i will be making. Obviously the bigger the donation the bigger the plug (space on the website and size of banner on car). Cheers guys. Andy and Tic

    Xbox 360

Ok guys, theres no need for the bitching, i can see there is some good healthy discussion going on, but just leave the personal snipes out of this, thats all three of you, joe, tom and mesaman. On the subject of the 360, i can see why it was popular at launch, due to all the hype and a couple of good games. Microsoft have chosen to make getting their product in first their priority, which has its benefits and problems. The less mature hardware being one, as is the lack of decent titles available that can take full advantage of the hardware available to them. Some of the hardware issues will be sorted out through rolling development (hopefully the disc scratching problem at least), then the overheating should be sorted when the chips move from a 90nm production process down to a 65nm process, as this reduced the thermal output for the same speed and architectured chips. Finally, game development, new hardware always takes time to learn the best and most efficient ways to program and utilize, hense the increasing quality of games on all consoles as they move throughout their lifetime. By the sound of things Sony has decided to give their game developers longer to get more mature games at launch whereas the big M decided to get the hardware out there with only a couple of develoipers managing to get anywhere near what they should out of the hardware. I can see big things coming in the future for both the 360 and the PS3 in terms of games quality. My one big hope is that when the 360 gets an HD DVD drive they prodiuce a USB version for those who bought one of the original units at launch. Personally I'm a PC gamer anyway, as i like to have something that is a bit more versatile than a console and can't stand first person shooters without a mouse.
  11. currently running heatsink blues, pretty damn good on a grind in the dry but a little lacking in the wet, should be getting some of his latest pads through soon which are meant to be better in the wet, now my ankles fixed and i can ride again.
  12. Tom yeah this years fits in perfectly with me finishing uni etc!! As for the car, the advantage of having a bro-in-law whose a mechanic will be wicked for getting the car ready, but trials-pimp's comments on what to take as spares etc are well appreciated, i guess the main consideration is the dust and things, and how to prevent it getting into the vital places. Right off to my sisters now to beg for a car and help!!
  13. a very low viscocity oil would be best, something a little thicker than pure WD40 (tried by a couple of mates who has slight leakage problems if i remember correctly), i'd try and search for something but can't actually remember how thick magura oil is now as i haven't used it in so long, and water with anti-freeze works perfectly for me
  14. drive up to loughborough for a house party (fancy dress - black and white), then drive home new years day
  15. after a bit of discussion on msn with Tic, were gonna give this a shot, its perfectly timed as ill have just graduated and so can have a month off before starting work, and always wanted to do something challanging like this Now to sort out a car, hopefully will pick up a Nova for free of my brother-in-law who works for a vauxhall garage
  16. I run less than 10% antifreeze in mine and it's never frozen on me yet, also the antifreeze acts as a slight lubricant to prevents andy wear to the seals. I've had my magura running on water from the day i got it 2nd hand 3 years ago and its still running perfectly well with no leaks. The time over which the pressure is applied will be insignificant in terms of causing damage, frames fail through brake flex due to the fatigue of the cycling of the force and the stress it causes. A single continued applied load will not cause any more problems than a single application.
  17. 99% of current systems don't require anything more than a 400W power supply so long as its from a decent brand. Generally anything below £40 for a power supply no matter what the claimed wattage and you could run into problems. However that won't be the case with the 9600PRO as i don't think they even require an additional power connector, so they can't be that power hungry.
  18. congrats, thanks for the insight mary12 oh and btw your now banned. and yes i will know if you sign up again as all the mods/admin can see what IP address you use, who your host is and where about in the country you are.
  19. I believe you did by posting this on a public forum!! Don't post useless topics and put a bit of effort into your posts and topics and no-one will have any issues with you.
  20. Well in those 35 minutes you've been on here you obviously failed to notice the large banner marked New Members Guidlines. Read them, read the main guidlines page, post well typed and thought out replies and don't insult others and you'll get validated. Simple really.
  21. I'd be more inclined to replace the cranks before the forks, a nice set of middleburns, as those lite guys should last you a fair while. Other than that, then a new rear wheel, maybe wait for the hope trial (or whatever its called) rear hub on an onza ronnie and a new set of rear brake pads. In terms of a bar and stem combo, then its a matter of personal preferance, try to get a ride on someone elses t-rex with a different bar and stem combo to see how theirs feels. As for the other upgrades, they seem to be well thought out so
  22. you should never need any tools to get a mtb tyre off!! the secret is moving the bead of the tyre over into the middle (lower) section of the rim. Go around the rim doing this and pulling all the slack this creates to a single point, then you should be able to simply pop the tyre bead over the edge of the rim. It might take a couple of trys, and you might need to move the inner tube out of the deepest section of the rim by fiddling with it a little while in order to get the bead down into there, but its perfectly possible. I know that its made a lot more difficult this time of year when your hands are freezing etc, so if you can take the wheel into your house and let your hands and the wheel warm up a little first before giving it another go. Try not to use any substances to aid removal as youll then have to spend quite some time cleaning the rim thoroughly to prevent contamination of your brake pads!!
  23. Well if Pete's casting pads they must be made from metal, rubber is moulded not cast.
  24. I've heard nothing but problems from 9600PRO's. What other games do you use with it? Also what is the exact model of the card, brand and amount of memory. One of the guys i live with still can't get his brother 9600PRO to play any modern games, and it sounds like you may have the same problem (they crash when loading), he has tried all sorts of drivers (latest, really old, modded etc) and still can't fix it. It might be worth seeing if you can borrow a mates gfx card (something other than a 9600PRO, preferably better) and try that, if it does work send that 9600 back.
