  1. Some real classic stacks in there. Good effort!!
  2. Is solidworks the fully featured package, or is it a cut down easy to use version of a full tier 1 package, like solidedge is to Unigraphics? Looks good Bigman! Are the tubes hollow? as if they were you could probably get an idea of the weight by getting the volume used and the density of commonly used frame alu. Also do you have a shot of underneath the bb area, as i'd be interested to see the detailed design on that. What was your thinking about how that area would be made? single chainstay and bb yoke? or seperate parts welded? Just a couple of things to get you thinking, thats all
  3. uni 9-5, spent in a mechatronics lab trying to get my head round programming a robot line following buggy. Came home, ate some food and started work again until about 11.30. 12 and a half hours uni work in one day, and people say uni's a doss p'ah. Day off tomorrow (well today now) though although will probably end up back in uni to test the code i wrote tonight
  4. Whatever you get make sure it fits well, thats the most important thing. Without the chin strap done up you should be able to shake and nod your head without it moving much at all, the chinstrap is there to stop it coming on upwards, not to hold it on. In terms of brands, the usual Giro, Met, Bell, Lazer etc are all good. Try to go for one with the internally adjustable band, any reasonable helmet has them now so no excuses really, they aid fitting and help comfort. Make sure the helmet suits your shape of head and is comfortable. When i went to buy a helmet i ended up spending about £20 less than i wanted as it fitted my head the best and was most comfortable. Finally, get down to a shop near you and try them on, none of this blindly ordering online stuff. Have a play with them all and find the right shape and size, the sales assistant should be able to help you get the right one for you. If you want to save a bit of cash and get it online, take a note of the make model and most importantly size, then order it from your chosen online e-tailer. Hope thats of some help, oh and yes i used to work in a bike shop so know what i'm talking about
  5. your forgetting supercycles will charge you about £3 postage on them though, whereas taty won't charge you for postage

  8. How much would this text cost me then? standard rate, or is it one of these, well offer you a prise paid for by the fans who voted by sending a £1 text??
  9. Ah it's a pay as you wank phone then, explains why there in no hurry to help you really, as they have what they want (your money) and won't be missing anything by not sorting it out. Still no excuse though. I'm guessing its all still got it's orinigal packaging and everything so they can hardly say you've broken it if its mint. Keep at it mate and if there arsey tomorrow just mention a phone call to trading standards you'll be making if it's not resolved to your satisfaction there and then.
  10. [attachmentid=2729] Not your usual RC car [attachmentid=2730] The "brains" [attachmentid=2731] The "eyes" It's basically a line following robot, based on an rc car, it will have 3 of those boards on it when its finished, one each for steering and sensing, motor control and communications (between boards and bluetooth back to a pc). Basically got to program it to follow a line on the floor with it going as quickly as possible, need to include things like traction control, antilock braking, and speed sensative steering, in addition to being able to control certain parameters such as max motor speed etc from a remote pc using a bluetooth comms link. It's a group project and i'm in charge of the line sensing and steering part, should be quite good fun Only just started at the moment so i'm trying to get the steering working by reading a voltage in through the potentiometer by the front right wheel in the first pic, then need to expand the code to include the reading of the sensors and using the speed sent by comms to determine the steering position etc. All being done in a programming language i saw for the first time two weeks ago

    Bracken Rocks

Take the A52 across to Ashbourne, then the A517 to Belper where you turn north onto the A6. Turn right at the sharpe courner where the road bears left, just after Whatstandwell station (on you right), then take the first left after the brige (about 50 metres), follow that road along for about half a mile, and the entrance is on your right, you turn into private property, with a orange tape on metal poles up one side of the driveway, follow the driveway round to the right into the carpark
  12. hmm, you must be pretty damn unlucky if you've had to wait every time you call them, I've got through nion straight away every time I've tried. Are you ringing the online customer service number ? 08706003009, that number seems to be pretty good for getting through to speak to someone. I had a few problems when i got my phone from O2 online, however they were due to the curier being wank and delivery the phone next door and not leaving a card (i was in all day too so i know they hadn't tried to deliver it to me :@) and then my neighbours were shit and didn't give it to me for 3 days. Things to remember, you're the customer, you're right. Was it a pay as you go phone per chance? If it was a contract phone, upgrade or new, then next time you ring up tell them you will suspend your direct debit until they get the issue sorted, also always take the name of the person you speak to and take a few notes as they you can quote what they have said and who said it, which may well help things along. Oh and don't take any bullshit about them calling you back, tell them you want to talk to the manager NOW! Good luck
  13. Silly, very silly. Schoolboy error not to check the date on a "shock story" sent yo you by a mate. Yeah, you've been able to get a few extra features and a bigger inbox for ages for a small amount of money a year. The only useful thing i would pay for would be outlook support which was removed for new accounts from last year some time. Luckily i signed up for my accounts ages ago so they still work with outlook
  14. i have found that while adaware is good for some things, spybot search and destroy is better, give that a go, it should help sort you out
  15. My main single comment would be there's no info on postage that i could see!! Do all prices include postage? or is there a new back end system that calculates it when placing an order? A couple of lines explaining the prices etc would be good. There's nothing more annoying than having to actually fully make up an order to get an idea of the price postage will be. EDIT, just had a play and found that its clearly shown when you add things to your basket liking that a lot!!
  16. There are no copywrite laws in china etc, its a problem that will plague any company, no matter where they produce their products. As soon as the far east gets one they can copy it and start knocking them out cheap as soon as they want. If you want to stay ahead, you need to innovate and try to curb the copying either by manufacturing in house, or by agreements with far eastern manufacturers not to copy your designs for a certain amount of time, although that usually only stops the one factory you use, not the miriade of others around.
  17. can you make a list of a few of the names the program has in the task manager process tree, googling them may well give you more clues as to how to get rid of it. Out of interest, are you running any anti-virus software and/or a firewall?
  18. Just had a look at the old website and can't see anything new on it etc, is it still the same site? If not whats the new address! Also not sure if your aware, but the 1st of may is a monday!!

  20. With the decent budget they have, i wouldn't mind a trials park that was used for this type of thing, although i'm not averse to having in depth conversations with my christian housemate, and even used to attend a christian union for the decent discussion etc. I'm not actually christian, i just like to hear different peoples views on things and find out what drives them to be how they are. And to say christians don't binge drink is silly, two of my mates who are very christian go out and get hammered all the time, and yes shock horror in night clubs too
  21. depending on hwo things play out in the next few days i may well end up dumping sarah on or around valentines day. meh
  22. i'd recommend the dell outlet, whats on there changes day by day, so you have to be ready to jump on what you think is a good deal when you see it. My advice is look at the main site and come up with a spec and model you want for about £400-450, then look for the same spec on the outlet section of the site. I got my original uni pc from there and saved about £200 on the list price. Also the best time to look to get a good deal is the morning as thats when the list has all its new additions put on there. My advice spec wise would be to go for no less than 512Mb of RAM, other than that really its about getting the most for your money. If you can get a P4 over a celeron, even if its a touch slower clock speed wise then go for it as they will be faster. It doesn't say whether the outlet pc's come with a monitor or not, so it may well be worth a quick call to find out, then if not, modify your price accordingly.
  23. RAM is already running on a beefy divider as its only rated to 2500fsb, but i find running it closer to 200 on tight timings gets better performance. Just had a go at getting to 3GHz but found it tops out at 2.9 not that thats a dissapointment considering the chip cost me £100, and it runs fully 24/7 stable at the speed of a £600 chip . Just need to have a play to get the lowest ram timings and cpu voltage now which should help reduce full load temps a bit.
  24. just run the test now im home again and....... about as close to the fastest tested as you can get [attachmentid=2682]
  25. I'm going to loosen the ram timings a bit more and see if i can get it up to 3GHz, it's at 2.8 (FX-57 speed) for all day running and is completely rock solid there. As for temps, there in the high 20's idle reaching about 43 max sustained load.
