As with all cad/cae software the best way to learn is to have a play. If you can't figure it out then your probably not really fit to be using it. If it has any tutorials then give those a go as they are often the best way to learn how the package works.

I like the colour coded parts, but am not a fan of the eyelid thingy either, defo won't be getting one of those for my G40 when i get one.

I'd say give leeson and hope a call, it should be fairly simple to get a decent bash machined to fit the xtr splines which has the mounting for a chainring on it already (a la burns pro trials)

Please please please sort out the quality on the vids, the hosting is free so theres no excuse to have really poor quality vids anymore!! Riding was good though. Oh and another thing, all the thanks at the end? may be slightly amusing, but really pointless!!

It may well be a thankless job, however you need to get the basics sorted and communicated before anyone will turn up to any events!! It's all well and good saying you'll sort membership on the day, but i don't usually take my cheque book to a trial, or much/any cash. How difficult can it be to say how much membership is going to be? Also it's hardly fair to get people to sign up to something they have no idea how much the final cost will be!! Another thing that needs sorting ASAP is a decent set of directions, so people actually know where they are going!!

I couldnt get to last years event, but will be sure to get my ass down for this years. NASS but with just trials and no pikeys, awesome!! Also, had a thought on the whole perimeter thing, how about wrist bands like nass and cencerts etc, different colours for different things. Would be simple, quick and easy to identify who should be there and who shouldn't. I like the idea of a days comps and a days just chilling riding the course, would be a nice compramise Ill have graduated by then and won't have started my job (hopefully) so will be available for the days leading up to the event should you need any help with setting up etc Andy EDIT: There's a YMSA round that weekend, but sod that, this should be a lot better and closer too

Mah, there are two on ebay at the moment that i could get to, but until i finish uni i can't afford to run a car. Just need to do some more investigation as to what they are like on motorways etc as i will more than likely be doing quite a few motorway miles.

hmm, the thought of a G40 is starting to grow on me now might have to replace the fabia VRS i was planning on getting, and is a hell of a lot cheaper!!

It was only really a matter of time before this started happening really. I have no issue with paying to send a broken hub back that is out of warranty or not used for its intended purpose, however the prices seem a little steep in terms of a jump from free to that. Does anyone know how much the parts cost to buy from hope (ratchet, pawls, freehub, bearing etc)? So long as they cover their hubs for the intended purpose for the minimum warranty period of 12 months then they are keeping their legal obligation, which is fair. On another note, whats the deal with 2nd user warranty, i.e i buy a 6 month old hub off someone then it breaks, can i still send it back (providing i get the proof of purchase with the hub), or is the warranty for the initial purchaser only? P.S by the way wayne, yes a manufacturing defect is defined as a fault in material, however the law on warranty states the item must perform it's intended duty (as advertised etc) a period of 12 months, meaning that a poorly design product that breaks will also be covered by warranty (think echo es range, a design flaw rather than a material issue was their problem), its also why saracen don't have a leg to stand on with their "using this bike for stunt riding invalidates the warranty" stickers on the MAD series.

Right, there are no details on the whole membership side of things in any of the topics or on the tartybikes site. I want to send my entry in tomorrow, but obviously don't want to do it only to find i need to send another cheque with my membership. Can we get some clarification (preferrably by info on the tartybikes site and not in a random thread on here) about exactly what is required both munitary wise and form filling in wise, as at present i can think of an analagy that describes the current state being compared to a certain event in a brewery. It's all got very close to the closing date for entries and the requirements are still up in the air!! Lets hope the actual trials is organised quite a bit better Andy

I don't personally have a VW, well a car for that matter!! But i have a couple of mates who are really into Vdubs. My housemate has a tidy mk2 with a few things done, gti interior and cam shaft etc. The other is a bit more extreme, he has a corrado 20vt 4x4, can see more details about it here. I very almost bought another of my mates mk1 with a gt engine in, but the rents wouldn't lend me the money i needed for it. pic below [attachmentid=2771]

I'm now 23 and have been riding for about five years, so far i've managed to break both my wrists, and dislocated my shoulder upwards of 20 times (have had an operation to correct that now), along with the miriade of usual bumps bruises and shin dents. To be honest, it's a pretty dangerous sport in comparison to some, however if i had played football or rugby for 5 seasons i would think i would have had a similar number of serious injuries as i've had through trials.

congrats guys, you've successfully got the thread closed!! I think the question about the frame has been answered, in that i don't believe there are any production versions of the frames in the country. I know Jon Fisher has a prototype 24" uci style frame from Steve, but I think thats completely different geo from the final version. Oh and for the record, yes Steve's products are good, generally because he's an engineer and so knows how to carry out proper product development.

i did the same thing before my 3rd year of uni. Use it as a get to uni bike/bit of street type thing. 2002 MAD frame 2001 Z4's with coils 521 on mono rear with random cassette 521 on dewhore front dewhore cranks with dmr saturn chainring ddg buzzbars with random stem dmr jump saddle kore seatpost un52 bb fire xc front xtr rear brake with avid lever stuff i bought to get it finished el gayto rear random headset dewhore front hydro disc sora mech whole thing ended up costing me about £100 It actually rides suprisingly nicely for such a random collecion of parts.

best place to park is the retail park near the middle of town, ill sort you out a map. I can meet you there at about 12 if you want, outside the kfc. [attachmentid=2757] The red area is the kfc car park, you get into it off regent street as shown by the red arrow. It's meant to be a pay and display if your not shopping in any of the shops, realistically I've know loads of people park there all day and never have any problems, so i wouldn't bother with a ticket. -
Glad you did it using hollow tubes, tis far too easy to just use solids And to get an idea of the weight, there should be something in there that can give you the volume of material used, then its just a matter if using the density of alu to get the rough weight. Will give you a reasonable ball park figure to see how thick the tubes need to be etc to get a reasonable weight.
