Just wondering whose going to be attending this 'ere fine event? Also do those who are having their entries carried over from the previous round need to send an entry form in? Andy

i'd steer clear of the deore front hubs, i've had two and the axels have snapped on them both. I did a bit of light dirt jumping and street on them, and they seems to have died far too easily. I'd say see what you can pick up 2nd hand.

I wasn't at the devon event, but wanted to add my opinions to the whole future of trials competitions discussion. I agree with some aspects of what both Dave and Wayne have said. It must be extremely difficult to arrange large events to which large numbers of the general public attend, especially with the locations that most trials are held. I agree with Dave that it for trials to become a larger entity a united front needs to be presented and a single universal set of rules decided upon. I know this would be difficult and i don't know the details behind the reason there are currently two different bodies involved, but having a single larger body governing trials in the country would certainly be more beneficial. Onto the getting the general public to events, the only realistic way to raise the profile of trials and get people regularly attending to spectate is to piggyback off other larger cycling events that already exist. The bike shows are a prime example of where this happens successfully with the trials arenas always surrounded by a crowd when there are people riding. Integrating trials into events such as the national XC series would certainly raise the awareness of trials hugely, as has been done with dirt jumping and dual at dowhill/xc events in the past. I see trials being ignored ever year st the BUSA (university) events, which already include xc, dh and now some dual. There is certainly no lack of trials riders at university, as i'm still discovering current or former trials riders around the loughborough campus on a regular basis. The main reason cited to the reason no trials is included is down to the organisation factor, no-one is willing to put the effort in to organise the events. This is where people like dave and wayne are certainly taking posative steps in the same direction, however there are some aspects that need addressing to improve the events. Certainly some publicity wouldn't go amiss, local advertising in papers or fliers etc will generate some interest. Also decent clear signing to events is a must, not only does it allow people to easily find the venues, but it also generates intrigue amongst the public, seeing a large sign to an event may get them to look up and see what is going/went on, the initial hook, which is currently severely missing. Finally having facilities available at events is a must if you want to get the public to attend. The hiring of toilets and arranging of burger vans etc make events a lot more enticing and personally actual enable me to compete (medical condition means i need to be able to get to a toilet regularly). These things will help get people interested, turn up to events, then retain their support, no-one wants to turn up to an event, then have to piss in a bush, and not be able to buy some refreshments. Their my views on the whole shebang, make of them what you will, if you don't agree, that fine and please add your opinions

you can use rivatuner to underclock your graphics card, it will also let you monitor the temperature if the card has a sensor. If underclocking it solves the issue then return it under the warranty as it is on its way out (don't mention the underclocking though as it voids your warranty)

I managed to pick up a deore hydro disc for £50 last year for the front of my jump bike. It's been excellent, good power and modulation, with a comfy lever, and has put up with the neglect of not being touched since fitting, so all good.

I've had all the fun of shoulder injuries in the past culminating in surgery to reconstruct the cartelidge in my left shoulder. I found that i was able to get on my bike fairly soon after the op (a lot sooner than was expected) and that it definately helped speed up the healing process. You have to be careful though that you don't mask the problem by building up other muscles to support the ligaments, as these can cause problems with pulling and/or biasing the joint differently to how the ligaments do and could lead to more problems down the line. The electrotherapy that Si is talking about does seem to help speed up healing, i think it breaks down the scar tissue allowing healthy tissue to grow quicker etc. Other than the electrotherapy, there should be some exercises that the physio can give you to keep your muscle strangth in your shoulder using a clini-band or similar, thats how i got the majority of my shoulder strength back and was what i used with physio before finally resorting to surgery. It definately helped and delayed the surgery a good 5 years at least (bear in mind i was dislocating my shoulder lots, not a single isolated injury). Whilst it is good to get back to riding, you do need to be VERY careful and not push it at all, its not worth the risk of a bad landing or crash to tweak it again, especially if your working towards the speediest recovery possible. You'd be better to do weight/band training if possoble to maintain your strength as it is a lot more controlled than riding and so there will be less risk of agrovating the injury. If you want to have a chat about it or anything grab my messenger address out of my profile and lob me on Good luck, hope it heals nice and quickly

Right, enough bitching people. Yes he's riding with a cast on, yes he's mentioned it in the vid name. If you don't approve then can you keep your comments and questions non abusive. Rich you know more than most how frustrating it is to not be able to ride due to injury so please don't continue the abuse. Anymore abusive posts will result in warnings. Back on the topic, TRA, which bone is it you've had trouble with as i've broken the scaphoid in both my wrists i the past and am currently finding that every time i ride one aches for a bit whilst the other one seriously hurts for a day or three after. I'm going to get them seen to, just hope i don't end up needing any surgery.

Middleburn Super Pro Trials Bashring
tank_rider replied to Wright Pads's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Pete, Ti is definately harder to weld than steel as it needs to be completely immersed in a certain gas (can't remember off the top of my head but neon rings a bell) which is completely different to alu. On the steel bach/rust front, i would be very suprised if it wasn't made from stainless steel like 99% of steel chainrings etc. -
Enough of the slating guys, and Pete, surely you should be getting your 9600SE flying, can't have me beating you using air cooling now can we !! I'm currently on a 40% performance increase in AM3 already, still on stock voltage

i really don't understand how all you guys round bolts and strip threads so much, i've not once done either and i've been maintaining my own bikes for about 7 or 8 years!! (and before you get smart, i've never had anything come loose on me )

Ed, i'm guessing your talking about the truck thats yours, or is the traction engine yours too?

you've got 7 days still to get em here

I find its all about confidence on committing up to the front wheel, mines improved loads recently and i'm finding bar height a lot easier and higher is coming slowely. Crouching low and lowering your front wheel a bit before you explode upwards helps a lot, it seems to go against the logic to get higher, lower the front wheel, but i find it stretches your arms out as much as possible meaning you can pull up harder and longer, getting more energy going into getting the bike going upwards.

What graphics card have you got? and are you overclocking it at all as BF2 can be picky with overclocking. For referance i manage to run BF2 well enough on my media pc on lowest res and mostly low settings with an overclocked ATI radeon 9500. The lines sound like artifacts leading me to believe there is a problem with your graphics card.

I had a mate who went to lincoln university and did media production, i think there media department is quite good Lincoln University home page, Photography course (called contemporary lens media), Media production course (mainly fimling editing etc) It may well be worth sending an e-mail to the admissions people at a couple of universities to ask their admissions process for overseas students, they will usually be more than happy to help you out and let you know their process for admissions etc. I'm not that knowledgeable on the media front when it comes to which universities are good for media stuff as i did all my research with engineering in mind. I'm sure there are some people on here who have done media type courses who will know where the good places to go are

I've not had any problems with mine. I've got two pairs, one i used for riding and another i use for everyday wear etc. Both pairs are over 3 months old now and are still in very good condition with very little wear at all. The extra heal padding has certainly saved my ankles from severe jolts on more than a few occaisions

I've not come across a tyre/rim combo i can't get off with only my hands yet!! Get the tyre in the middle of the rim and the slack in one place and it WILL come off. Alternatively ride with pretty damn low pressure and land a couple of gaps sideways, instant tyre popping off rim I managed it while trying a 180 gap earlier.

I'm a believer in insuring your bike. I've got insurance on my trials bike and have done ever since hearing that Dave Cleaver (tartybikes dave) had his trials bike nicked in the first year at loughborough. Also i invested in a decent D-Lock (with a proper key not one of those round biro hackable ones), so hopefully it should never get nicked, but if it does i'm covered. The money i pay each year is something i see as a small price to pay compared to loosing the bike i've spent years and large amounts of hard earned money getting to how i want.

Nice work. I like the idea of different sized holes on the side of the bash that doesnt usually get hit so not to loose any strength from the side that gets mullered most often.

Voted for Todges vid, nice chilled out inventive and varied, just the right length too as it leaves you wanting a tiny bit more Leedstrials was a very close second due to the original stuff in it, not seen riding switch bars before
-
Hmm, lucky i saw this, i am going to be getting a new rim in the next month and was considering one of these. Looke like ill be trying to find a DX-32 (talk about return to the old school!!) or get another ronnie as mines served me for 18 months and has only just started to dent lots due to quite a few grinds.
-
Yeah siders like those. You can do it with a dremel and a flexi extender to give you more control. Have a good practive on a bit of old perspex before you go for it on your main bit though!! It's another thing i want to have a play at over the next year.

You may not be able to cut them out, but you could have a plain window and etch those designs onto it, would look pretty damn sweet

anyhoo, enough posts about the one in SM chat, go forth get drunk and entertain the rest of the forum with your drunkeness

No, they will be left here as a record, in a months time it would be nice to be able to look back on posts of yours like the ones above and think, yeah he has changed, if that happens you may well be let into the main forum again. Improve and you will get yourself back to where you want to be. Improve your attitude, and stop abusing people. People have changed in the past on here and it has been recognised, were not "out to get" anyone, or have any hidden agendas against anyone. Behave like a normal mature human being and you will get back into the main forum, it may take you longer than normal, but thats due to your past record which you'll have to live with. Oh and before you complain, thats life, you can't do something, then just ignore it and hope it goes away or will be instantly forgotten.
