Amazingly Expensive Yet Beautiful Products...
tank_rider replied to adamtrials's topic in Trials Chat
no mention of how the hubs work (pawls or some "other" method), would thing they use pawls though. They do look exceptionally pimp! -
I've found them to be fairly slack with the whole customer service thing to be honest. They have been slow sending things out and have had to be rung back several times after "accidentally" hung up on while they check the stock of the item i was after. If their website was a bit more proffessional i would order off there, but it looks like its never updated and was done by a 10 year old.

I use a short runup, then one powerful forward pedal stroke with my bad foot and use the final pedal stroke with my good foot to get as much height as possible. As i say with most gaps its all about getting height, as the longer your in the air the further you can go. maybe pretend the gap has a slight up to it to force you to get some height, or practice on a slight step up to force you into this. The apply the same technique to a flat gap Once i've finished in a couple of weeks we'll have to have a session at the brick works

I ran water and anti-freeze for over 2 years in an old mag with absolutely no problems at all. Am just waiting to get the time to re-bleed my new mag the same.

I'd say check out the O2 online deals, i just moved to them from T-mobile. If you go for the 18 month contract you can choose whether you want lots of mins or texts. I'm currently paying £30 a month for 400 anytime any network mins and 150 texts, for comparison i paid the same amount with t-mobile but only got 200 mins!! I paid £50 for the phone i got with my O2 contract, but thats not suprising as its a samsung SGH-i300 smartphone with a 3GB hard drive in it, perfect for running my life with outlook while at uni and will defo be invaluable once i start work to keep track of the hundreds of meetings i always end up with.

Bolt Broke Off In A Wheel How Do I Get It Out
tank_rider replied to Davetrials's topic in Trials Chat
Take it to an engineering shop, they will drill a small hole in it and use a reverse threaded bolt to undo it. -
Opening Of Memorial Garden For Dj + All Day Ride!

I'll be there -
I get what your describing, which is arm pump, caused by muscle fatigue. I also get RSI though due to the sweep on my bars, it shows as a sharpe pain in my wrists which occurs when they are under any load in certain positions. I think its a combination of riding and lots of keyboard typing. I will be getting some new bars to try to combat the problem, the doctor who diagnosed it also said to try wearing a support (which i need to get round to buying!!) For your problem, the more you ride, and longer lines you do, the situation will improve with time. I find i get the problem at comps after having ridden a few sections, due to me usually riding street and single obsticles or short lines, in comparison to two mins at a time as in comp sections.

I myself and guilty of swearing a bit at trials, but usually only when talking to mates. I was a lot more aware of myself though at the last YMSA and definately toned down my language after the previous discussions on here. I'm not generally a loud person anyway, so when i do slip up on the swearing side of things its pretty localised and usually not aimed at anyone. One thing i never do is be rude/offinsive or moan at/to observers, as has been said they are volunteering to do something that benefits me, so it's only polite. If they make a mistake, then there only human too, so maybe pointing out something to them can help clarify things for the future, but do it constructively and in a friendly manner.

I've got a 203 version 3 rotor and am using it with my avid cable. Works really nicely and looks pretty good too I'm running mine backwards to how they suggest as i could see it was going to mangle pads if run the "correct" way round. [attachmentid=4625] sorry for the poo pic, could probs get a better one if you want

It's always nice to get something new for your bike I'm always a bit skeptical of any new product, especially in the drive train region!!) so will be interested to see how the latest set of hubs and freewheels released in the last few months hold out to some sustained trials abuse!!

Fund Raising For Mongol Rally - Your Thoughts/Any Ideas?
tank_rider replied to tomturd's topic in Chit Chat
team pink panda have done very well selling t-shirts, they were a tenner and cost about 2-3 each to make, so you can make a fair bit of money reasonably quickly. They have sold upwards of 140 so far i believe!! That is with two people at different uni's, and having half the mountaineering club buy then for the team pink panda social which was arranged. -
Ad, any chance of a pic of the internals?? Am interested to see how they compare to an eno and acs.

Jesus, didn't think locking it would cause this much of a problem!! I was following the guidelines which say you may be bitching to your mate, but we don't know that. It was a topic full of bitching and tripe, so i closed it, live with it. It also had a couple of reports if i remember rightly so obviously others didn't like it either, it wasn't just done on a whim. If you don't like the topic about killing bring it to the mods attention using the report button, thats what its there for, don't just start a topic moaning. The report button gives us a chance to get a heads up if we haven't seen something, but it also helps us make decisions on what people don't want to see etc.

jonny, i could probably put you in contact with a couple of bands whose music you could use drop me a pm.

since when can you sure aids!! you can't cure it, just suppress its effects for a while. unless you plan on making the pawls out of some very exotic material you won't find anything strong enough to withstand the forces experienced.
-
the rim should be centra on the axle so the easiest check to get the wheel dished correctly is to flip the wheel over in the frame/forks and check the position. It works for me, and is nice and simple.
-
I seriously wouldn't do that unless you plan on never having any children. Single pawl engaguement is like aids, you never want it.

i'd say have a look at an apprentiship, there are less and less people doing them, resulting in a decline in people doing things like plumbing etc. Get yourself under the wing of a well respected plumber and learn the trade, maybe supplement it with a part time college course and you'll be well on the way. From talking to quite a few people theres a lot of money in skilled work such as plumbing, brick laying, corgi fitter etc so it's definately an idea to check it out. Beyond that, try to do one of the job suiter test things that most careers agencies have, you answer a whole bunch of questions and they give you ideas of careers to consider and investigate. Thats basically how i found out about engineering and i haven't looked back since. Thats not true!! My course has a lot of project work in it which is done with industry, so you are solving real world problems etc. I do agree that there are a lot of courses out there that do little to prepare you for the real jobs your likely to do, but a uni degree will give you a lot of the knowledge that will take decades to learn on the job. It may be stuff that you don't remember, but you'll know where to look things up to refresh your memory, rather than having to learn everything.

The sheldon brown guide is awesome. It's what i used to learn to build wheels, and after the first one (which wasnt bad, but wasnt that great either) all my builds have been pretty damn good. My 2nd build was my current americal classic 140 disc on XM719 and has lasted me about 20 months so far, and has only just buckled, i landed a 360 off a 3ft wall front wheel first and still spinning which would have bent any wheel to be honest!! My best advice would be to take your time and make sure you bed the spokes in by standing on the spoke cross overs one at a time on both sides, then re-true/tension the wheel and repeat until the wheel doesn't change between standing on sessions.
