SATA drives are generally 'better' than IDE drives as they're slightly faster, the cable is small and they've got a future! SATA/II are compatible with each other and if your motherboard supports SATA II then it'll be faster than standard SATA (assuming the hard drive used is also SATA II). Yes, you can use both drives simultaneously with the SATA as the main drive.

Basically using a normal ethernet cable between two connections from devices is like trying to plug a 3 pin wall plug into a 3 pin wall plug. A crossover cable switches the 8 wires in an ethernet cable over, so the far left goes into the far right, etc...so basically it makes it work.

Quite importantly, don't forget that Mac OS is based on Unix, and is hence largely open to open-source software. You'll be able to find almost any type of application you want; sure, they won't be branded, 100% certified and tested etc but when you're paying nothing it really makes up for itself!

You won't be able to install Windows programs on there, you'll have to buy the Mac versions of them and use those. I'm not sure about OSX Leopard, but I know ~Tiger only comes with TextEdit which is alright, but it's more or less Notepad on Windows.

I'd say it's a bit of an exaggeration to say the cheaper Macs are poop. Apple have started competitively pricing their products, and hence their cheapest models are now still extremely capable machines for their time.

Take a look in your motherboard manual and look for memory slot settings. If you're using all 4 slots the memory controller usually only likes having them in order. The only other time i've ever had memory size issues is when i've used cheap crappy ram, faulty decent ram or a cheap crappy motherboard.

Any chance the music you have in your other non-iTunes music folder is lossless? iTunes may have converted it all to AAC when you imported it into your library, hence the large filesize difference.

Go for a K custom dry ride, whatever style you're playing for. They are amazing. If you're a heavy player, go for Z custom crashes. If you're not so heavy, go for K or K custom. If you're an inbetweeny, go for A customs. Z customs and A customs complement each other very nicely, as do Ks for K customs. Go for the K hats as above, or the A custom projection hats. The 13" type of the projection hats have a nicer tone and a much crisper sound when closed.

If you want to make any sequence of keys or buttons do pretty much ANYTHING, download Quicksilver. It lets you definea sequence or combination of buttons to execute any string of commands or do something within a program. For example, I've got Ctrl+Apple+Page Up/Page Down for Next/Previous on my iTunes...and this will work when you're in any program, without Quicksilver or iTunes selected.

With hindsight i would say don't bother, but having girlfriends or whatever as you grow up is just part of growing up isn't it?
