  1. Wow ! Incredible riding . When mod riding is done right it looks so damned impressive .
  2. I hear you , and there's a resurgence of popularity for traditional saddled streety bikes . My pure trials bike rarely sees use , in favour of my playbike :
  3. Hey Nick - welcome to the riding absurdly small bikes off walls / rocks forum ! The Norco Havoc seems to be a pretty playful well built bike , but is intended more for the dirtjump / street crowd and it's a rarity for trials riders to use suspension . Sure , Mr.Leech rides trials on something like this ( to incredible effect ) but that's probably a mix of contractual obligation combined with the fact that he's absurdly talented and could probably win competitions ridin' a shopping trolley . Pretty specific question you posed though , you've been offered one ? You could certainly learn the basics on it and work on your balance and general bike handling , but the gearing and that sus fork will be a hindrance . Take a look through our bike pics subforum and you'll get an idea of prevalent types and configurations . Occasionally there are some killer deals to be had from our for sale section , too . Any riders in your area ?
  4. I guess back in the days of NoPogo and VTCZ I followed a picture link here . Nice to be able to keep up with the U.K scene .
  5. Yeah , preload is crucial-equal and opposite reaction and all that. Also getting the bike pretty steep / vertical allows a faster rotation . Are you giving a little pedal or just pullin' the bike with muscle power / bodyweight displacement ? I learned 'em with a pedal but now find it more comfortable to yank the damned thing . Finally got 'em reliably by focusing on really snappin'fast - rotate rapidly , spin speedily ,pirouette promptly and , uh...boing briskly ?
  6. Was the roughened finish literally smooth again , or was the brake simply not feeling as you had hoped ? If the latter , it can take a while for the pads and rim to get to know each other . The pads may simply need a while of usage to match the new contours of the braking surface .

Really impressive and I'm fond of any rider who's not afraid to show his mistakes . Looking forward to great things from this fella .
  8. Clean your damned lens before every take , Complete sections / lines as opposed to single moves , Film a talented / innovative rider .
  9. I recommend diligent attention to writing attentively and accepting that a grind becoming duller is a normal consequence of usage . Were bite / hold satisfactory when first ground ? If so , you're doin'it right . For what it's worth , my Try All needs the tender attentions of a grinder every 3-4 months ( soft V pads . )
  10. Invalidated if they suspect trials usage , and by all accounts they can identify the specific type of wear inflicted by trials . Fortunately , if well maintained and and you have good technique , a rear :king: will offer years of reliable service. And to answer your other question - they offer 72 points of sweet, buzzing engagement .
  11. Oh my - you're in for an astonishing surprise ! Check out Chris' Trial Noir section for a start . Can't embed videos 'cause I'm a dummy .
  12. Best wishes to Mr.Akrigg , the most inventive versatile rider out there . When he recovers and has his first tentative ride , he'll still be better than pretty much everyone here .
  13. If your current bike's a hardtail it should already be ideally suited to learning the basics and improving your general balance whilst you shop around . Occasionally some killer deals surface in our For Sale forum , keep an eye out !
  14. Hey , hope to meet / ride with you sometime !

  15. Strange to see so many recommendations specifying every individual component ( except noodles - unsung heroes ) but omitting the most critical variable - the rim(s). LROB87 , whatcha' rollin'on ? For me it's a lightly ground Onza Ronnie , Avid SD7 levers, XT arms ( really impressed , look great too ! ) Noname booster that I've been running since like the early 90's Trialtech pads with a linear slick cable , though I might consult with my LBS about some SP51 at Mr.C's recommendation . Not too sure about optimal setting of the speed dial adjuster , between squishy but powerful or sharp but less forceful I kinda leave 'em in the middle .
  16. They sure were / are . You're from Holland- whereabouts ? I'm in Den Haag , pop me a PM if you wanna ride some time. Mr. Greetings - I've run those rims forever although only a year or so ago did I build it onto a :king: before then it was all Hopes ( often bought through our very own for sale forum .) My beloved Base frames only just accepted those absurdly wide Try All rims and I had to contend with major V brake arm protrusion , but they offered massive stability . I recently sold the Karbon to a beginning rider , thus ensuring good trials Karma for this season !
  17. Scheveningen ? ( pronounce that, English speakers !) All up in my hood ? Can't wait !
  18. Nice to see your technique gettting really dialled and enjoying the glorious weather . This one's really impressive ! Where's this / these spots ? Edit : I guess Haarlem ?

Just incredible and inspirational , a really welcome return to the feel of the older era scene with the addition of modern bikes and techniques . Laughably talented riding throughout and expertly captured and edited . Spectacular . Saved to disk , and spammed the Vimeo link to every human I know . Sincerely - thank you for making this , Mr. Westlake .
  20. Looks so playful , perhaps among the most handsome bikes I've ever seen ! Seeing it from the side really shows the surprisingly high bracket , oh the endless , effortless manuals
  21. Probably true , in my early days Megamo was one of the ONLY choices , alongside Monty , Pashley , Crescent and not-quite-trials-but-suitables like the Giant , Cannondale and Orange's Zero .
  22. Gorgeous lookin' bike , godawful skinsuit ! Between cursing the Gods at being reminded that that song exists , I was wondering if this was recent footage , or contemporary with the era of the Megamo . I guess modern 'cause I saw a few recentish lookin bikes ? Edit : Durr , it clearly states " fresh style . "
  23. Wheel(s) slightly out of dish , overtight headset , being blown kisses by hot girls ?
  24. I recently sold my beloved Koxx Karbon to an enthusiastic beginner , sad to see it go but pleasing to know someone's getting a really good start . As a result , this is my main bike for the Summer : A Base TA26 frame , resprayed and with bashplate mounts ( on a stock ? ) removed . Nice tall front end for playful , obedient bunny'oppability . Damn your hydraulic systems ! That blue booster on the back has adorned every bike I've had since , like the early 90's ! :king: Welp , small images !
  25. Looks like a lotta fun ! Gotta wonder how a pro like Mr.Peat would handle it .
