Measurable improvement , Great for fitness, Promoting the sport in Holland , impressing females :"> , interested in the technologies , It also allows me to be someone else for a few hours ... seriously , it's a very therapeutic form of escapism from my otherwise unrewarding life .

People are too easily dissmissive of V-Brakes , so I'll leap to their defence as best I can . A correctly set up rear V can be massively powerful , whilst still offering great modulation . The crucial factors are pad and cable choice .There are some very good soft V pads available now , and once "worn in "to the rim are very reliable . Your own suggestion of an Avid SD7 is a great idea , not entirely sure about adapted Magura blocks . Invest in some quality cable , and keep the cabling running in clean lines , and lubed , taking care to make your cuts straight . All this said , I'll confess to only having used Magura's HS33 for a few months , after which I chose to go back to V-brakes . V-Brakes : Weight saving , excellent stopping power , endless combinations of pad , cable , levers etc... I only hope your frame has cable stops , or is it hose guides only ?

Damn ! Grips are so impotrant too , being the only other contact point aside from pedals ( and saddle for some .) I kinda liked the idea of Monty's foam grips , but have been scared off , now . I've been running Onza Porcipaws for well over a year now . They're very thin , incredibly sticky and feel good , having not ripped or slipped yet . Great grips , but hard to find .

Ha ha , working on Norton Ginger Works ... (Y) ...

I expect they're drawn from tubing , and the term "extrusion "comes into it the process at some point . Kinda curious too .

Bored out of my skull , waiting for my replacement BASE TA26 frame ( See topic ) http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....showtopic=52903 Thought this might be funny , excuse the lame Photoshoppage , I've only just learned the basics . I'm sure some of you Photoshop whizzes here will improve on it .

Holland's experiencing something of a Trials drought too , I'm one of at most 15-17 riders in the whole dammned country ! Even worse , Kenny Belaey , being Belgian was former World Champ . I'm the bloody village idiot here , I tell you , I get people asking incredibly daft questios , or simply staring as if to say (Y)
-
It's possible that the bashplate from a BASE TA26 might fit , and most people who own one remove the dammned thing straightaway . Ask around Base owners , you could have mine for free , but I dunno for sure if it will fit , plus I live in Holland , so postage might be prohibitively expensive .

I'm rather curious about Coppelstereo 's response to this question . No offence meant . That he continues to ride , despite the obvious disadvantage , and has found a smart solution to the problem of brake levers is pretty inspiring . That must take some serious coordination .
-
Even the best cable will perform dissapointingly unless cut correctly , meaning nice clean cut staight across the top , filing off any diagonal excess if need be . Clean / replace your ferules aswell , when necessary .
-
Coppellstereo , that White industries eccentric hub is just soooo dammned cool . A friend of mine runs one , and totally loves it . It looks so neat , having no mech on a bike with vertical dropouts . The hub itself is also reliable , depending on choice of freewheel , of course . Silver only , though .

I prefer the simplicity and ( slight ) weight saving that SS offers once I'm on target at a spot , but getting there can be annoying . I can't stand actually cycling around between spots , perhaps I should use that time to work on manuals . As stated above , going singlespeed leaves the bar uncluttered with unneccesary cabling .

I ran a set of square taper Deore cranks for a few months , they seemed to hold up pretty well . Some guy on Observed trials . net managed to machine a pair of Shimano Deores to accept a front freewheel ! Looked pretty cool .
-
Great lookin'bike . They look so low , I briefly thought it was 24" :"> . Love the design of that frame , it sits poised like some trickriding insect . 'n stuff . Nevermind . The quality of those "ridden " pictures is amazing , damn my cheapo digicam !
-
Gosh , gotta love Pures , they are so obedient on the back wheel . Good looking build up , too . Your rear non Q/R skewer - what make is that , or was it supplied with the King hub ? Also - why the inverted Avid lever ? Chain could be shortened by a few links , though . Nice bicycle , dude .
-
I was about to ask what had happened to your white Planet -X with the Union Jack saddle . Decent gap , fella. Next time I'm in Israel I'll certainly bring my bike .
-
Didn't bring the monitor near any powerful magnets at any time , did you ? These can cause permament discolouration , typically purple .
-
Perhaps they were not unresponsive , but stunned into shocked silence , not daring to break your concentration . Only kiddin ' , you rode well , some people simply find it hard to express enthusiasm . Don't forget , from the "outside " trials can be hard to understand . They don't know it's a recognised discipline , and it can be easily misconstrued as agression , showing off or vandalism , take your choice . I've been accused of all .
-
I started riding so young , I was riding trials in my last incarnation . Gapping around the Pyramid building sites , was great fun . In this life , however , I started way too late : 20 :">

All this talk of revenge is very natural , and I'd be f**king furious too , but seeking vengeance against them won't help . You suggested that you know where that car is parked ? Inform the police , you can easily demonstrate that you've been assaulted , by the sound of it . The kind of idiots who do this kinda thing will probably be well known to the Police anyway , so that plus your testimony could put 'em away . The fact that they're Asian is irrelevant , it could just as easily have been any group of people ( Chav scum " ) , what is important to the Police is that they commited an offence . Well 2 actually , attempted theft and assault .

What Was The First Trials Bike You Ever Had?
Endohopper replied to Trials Star's topic in Trials Chat
Learned my basics on a G.T Outpost ( 17" ! ) then got me a 2nd hand Kona Munimula , which I destroyed within weeks . First proper Trials bike was my beloved BASE TA26 , as shown below . P.s : Lovely white Maguras on that Koxx , Phenovenom . -
Nice pictures , especially the fourth , as Trialmedia said . On the shot of the ( good lookin ') bike itself , it apears that you run your brake levers angled very steep . Doesn't this become uncomfortable when leaning far back ?
-
Absolutely agree . Successful or not , simply attending / entering a comp teaches you so much . It's also a great way to meet other riders and see all the shiny kit . It also shows differing approaches to the same section , the tactical , the brute force ( unhelpful ) the smooth etc. Living in Holland I sorely miss competitions , let alone any trials scene at all :S . Have fun and good luck .

I think these are cut outs from Onza's Hog rims . Having a whole bunch left , they decided it would make good promotional goodies . Strangely though , the rim itself is Black only , so these were specially anodiosed . There's a topic about 'em somewhere on here , in which several members have the whole set , like all 6-7 colours .

I reckon that our sport is practiced by such a wide variety of people that there is no "Trials Style ." As long as clothing permits athletic movement , and allows heat to escape it'll be in use . The U.K scene , specifically streety riding tends towards a baggy "skatey "look . It all suits me fine , as long as we never forget the horrors of skin tight lycra :S . Let us learn from history .
