Big drop indeed , my question is not so much how did the drop go , but how the Hell did you get up there in the first place ? :) Fine steed too .

Retapping thread is only really neccesary if you have encountered problems with inserting your existing B.B , or it coming loose . In the case of my Base frame , it was necessary , as there was paint and even a blob of alu ( ! ) on the thread . As suggested above doing so removes material from the shell , so should only be done when necessary , although it does work extremely well , giving clean even threads . I'm with Caleb on this one though , give the area a good clean , and grease before inserting B.B .

Not surprising that this is such a popular post , it's kinda therapeutic to get it all out . A lot of unneccesary negativity going on here though , several homophobics , serious ageism and chavs . Well , chavs can just perish painfully . 1. People not knowing that trials is a recognised discipline , as opposed to vandalism . 2. Brakes howling like a constipated banshee. 3. Nazis . Yes , really . Out here in Holland some people are openly Nazi . (Y) . 4. Dust getting into my sensitive electronics. ( Hi-Fi , P.C etc...) 5. Several aspects of my psychiatric architecture :"> .

Kinda like the technical tickety-click of a good hub . Caleb , you jokingly suggested your Hope XC is pretty noisy , I'm buying one soon ( 2nd hand ) - I presume these are generally noisy ? Hope so . Any info on reliability ?
-
Absolutely Alibongo . In fact , yours looks so dammned nice , I'm considering one as my next or second frame given my prefference for V-Brakes . Ideally , of course an Ali in white .

Double ditto on the " looks awesome " etc... Might wanna clean your fisheye lens though (Y) . Looking forward to the finished article .

Any ideas on the Starck ? Original frame , or respray ? Either way , absurdly wide down tube .
-
Whilst browsing O.T.N , I came across this , and thought it post - worthy . Not seen it before , looks terribly low and long . Original post : http://www.observedtrials.net/vb/showthread.php?t=13450 The other is a Starck , Russian I believe , one of Holland's few trials riders uses one of these . At first , I suspected it to be a resprayed Yaabaa or similar , I'm sure one of you guys / girls might be able to identify if it is an existing frame that's simply been resprayed .

I believe B.T recently published pictures of their new fork , which looked to be pretty solidly built . I'm sure someone on here will link to it .

How about white ? I understood they were pretty rare . They're good looking either way .

Yeah , not entirely certain where the creaking is coming from , but best replace the frame before it fails , you wouldn't want tubes just snapping whilst riding now , would you ? Wanna know about Base's TA26 ? Well , perhaps I'm somewhat biased , but I find it to be an excellent all rounder , being of medium length , and having short chainstays that ensure an obedient backwheeler . Good value for money , and reasonably light , this frame feels pretty stable and has good looks too , in my opinion ( as shown in link below :)" ) . Once you've removed the supplied bashplate it builds into a nice bike , whose rear triangle will accept a fat rim / tyre .

Yeehaa ! Can't help you on blue spokes , I'm afraid , but looking forward to seeing a blue themed wheel / bike . Blue is true .

478 kb / sec ! One of the few advantages of living in Holland . Oh , the Hell with it all , I'm gonna pack up trials and take up knitting or something , there's too many massively talented riders out there . Guy's good 'n stuff . Well filmed , too .

Mystery solved . What I'd like to see is the Top Gear team testing trials bikes , with all their usual commentary , swish camera work and production values . Imagine Jeremy Clarkson describing a Coustellier or something . Awesome .
-
I'm such a sucker for anything blue :"> . Really looks nice , I wanna see the thing built up with the Try-All rim , please post pictures when complete . Now call me an ignorant n00b , but is that hub intended for 20" or stock ? Dammned nice , either way .

Wasn't there a safety recall on these a while back ? Seems like a good lid .

Yikes ! That's a pretty good looking piece of hardware . Hmmmm...That + blue try all ...

Slipknot ? SNOTLIP :)"

We now have two types of memory; random access memory (RAM) and virtual memory, or the page file. The page file is created during the Windows XP installation and resides on the hard drive. Page files are measured in megabytes. The size of the page file is based on how much RAM is installed in the computer. By default, XP creates a page file which is 1.5 times the amount of installed RAM and places it on the hard drive where XP is installed. From " Elder Geek ." If virtual memory is low , either delete some uneccesary files , or a restart can help.

:) That Union Jack design ... *sheds a patriotic tear* Bit 'o class . . .

At the risk of showing my age : anyone remember the Mr.Crud D.C.D ( Dave's chain device ) ? In times of yore , when men rode to battle on 17" frames wearing lycra :) these used to be on pretty much every trials bike in the U.K . Pretty pointless really , when you can simply shorten your chain , thus saving weight instead of adding to it . I have plenty of photos of Lord Martyn of Ashton and indeed many "older" riders sporting these curiosities on their chainstays . For a while there , even I was running one , Blue of course . Aaaah , them were the days . . .
-
Kind of interested in this too . Who manufactures them , and exactly how do they work ? I presume that using one allows you to shorten your chain , thus achieving chain tension without a mech / tensioner . Sorry for the hijack Dandaman :) , but I was gonna ask anyway . Someone explain , please ?

Great pictures , good riding , awesome rocks ! I'm moving there ! Holland has NO natural , you're just making me jealous now .

You're right , Jonny MC , the Gods of trials rarely smile upon us . It seems to come in phases , where a few months will pass without mechanical failure , and the riding seeming to go well . As suggested above , good componentry is half the battle , and some regular maintenance and fettling never goes amiss . It does suck lots though , when it seems your bike is cursed .
